Why is it a problem that we like Byrne?

Things were so much more fun in the 90's when both teams were winning. The Egg Bowl meant something for both teams. The rivalry was fun (I just can't get into it when one of us sucks, particularly us). Both State and Ole Miss can be successful at the same time again, and really it is better that way.

just completed passes and scored touchdowns, won some games. In other words, he did what you expect a quarterback to do. I don't get all the man-love.

I think the love for Eli simply stems from the fact that no one liked Romero.

Thats why he finished an All-American, All-SEC, and third in the Heisman voting. Greg Byrne isn't even doing his job better than many of his SEC peers, much less being greater than most ADs in the nation.

look, everybody outside of Auburn gets excited about new hires. We get that. But you boys act like you just hired Steve effing Spurrier away from Florida.

Mullen could be the ultimate badass, or he could be another Croom...or he could be another Gene Chizik coordinator bust! Nobody effing knows.

We understand that hope is exciting and all, but damn people. Temper that ****.
You have a good coach, and now we have a good (but unproven) coach.
If he's "unproven" how is he good?

he simply did his job to the best of his ability, and for that you people love him. Seriously, why?

You don't think Byrne is doing a good job compared to his peers? I can think of one AD he's got a step on off the top of my head. And anyway, how easy is it to be AD at LSU, Florida, or Bama? You just wake up in the morning and money flows in. Byrne has done an outstanding job of raising revenue for us. Both of his coaching hires look good on the surface. What's not to like?

Auburn fans would disagree with you. And, if they would admit it, Mississippi fans would as well.
