Same things were said about Cal. He's nothing like Pearl; not the Salesman type.
Some of you are in for a rude awakening.Chris Beard instead of Cal. No way. Boring offense. Has won nothing. That's a ridiculous choice. No way he's a beer coach at UK then Cal.
LOL. I’d sure be willing to put up a LOT of money against that. The SEC is down? You mean a lot worse than Ga. Tech, Norte Dame, Richmond, etc.? I don’t think so. Even our really good teams drop games we shouldn’t in SEC play. The very best we can hope for in the SEC is 12-6 and I don’t see a very good chance for that. I also think we get beat by Louisville (damn I hope I’m wrong here). They aren’t good either, but they don’t have the turmoil going on like we do. Just today we had a player crying on the bench and another walk off before the game was actually over. We’re not a team right now. If Cal were to be able to go on a run like you seem to think is possible, it will be a miracle.
Mark Pope, good coach, great guy, UK alum.
Wright, Stevens, Donovan, Few, Izzo would all not come to UK no matter how much money you give them. I also doubt Tony Bennet would either. I think the top tier of guys you could get would be Beard, Oats, Holtman, and someone like John Behlin. Also think that Travis Steele from Xavier might turn into a good hire depending how Xavier does the next couple of season and same with Eric Musselman.
You'd fire Cal and hire Mark Pope? You can't be serious. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.If we can’t get who we want and he’s performing at a good level, I wouldn’t object to this under certain conditions. Sometimes you have to take a chance, and if so, no one better than one of your own. And seeing how he was a player during our best run outside of Rupp, I think it would be exciting in some ways. If he actually won big and sustained great success, we’ve got our future wrapped up.
Brad's not leaving the NBA anytime soon. He has a great, young roster. He is at a top franchise, and he is on the cusp of the finals.
Drew is a Calipari mold con man. He's bad at cheating and has a record that's not good.
Beard is the first choice after the ususal suspects. It just makes sense. He can recruit Texas, he's a good defensive mind, and he's a hungry coach who's been on the verge of a title and came up short. He's young, humble, and hungry. It's perfect.
I have no idea why anyone would be hesitant about hiring Beard. Makes absolutely no sense. I can't even find a single reason.
Joe B Hall did alright for his first head coaching job.I don’t know man, that no head coaching experience kinda kills it. Kentucky is a hell of a first HC job
Some of you amaze me on here. You really don’t know that Pitino came to UK from the Knicks?Pitino went to the NBA after he coached here, not before. And he sucked in the NBA and was fired. He was not an NBA coach. Sort of my point. The two are so different.
Bourbon, he is baiting.LOL. I’d sure be willing to put up a LOT of money against that. The SEC is down? You mean a lot worse than Ga. Tech, Norte Dame, Richmond, etc.? I don’t think so. John BelienSurprised Holtsman doesn’t get more buzz . I like the guy .
and maybe I’m hung over but what about adding the guy who was at Michigan , then the Cavs to our current staff and let him run the O .. he ran great sets at UM . Name ?
I can't belive that some of these fans actually believe in what they write on here want to talk about really having the blue blinders on!Are you being serious? This team will not make the tournament unless it wins the SECT. Just look at the math. We’re 1-5 with a lone win against Morehead. I suspect we get beat by Louisville next week on the road. That’s 6 losses. We still have to play Texas. We’re going to have to improve greatly to beat them, but let’s say we do. That would give us a 2-6 OOC record. We play 18 SEC games. I think we win 10 -12 at best. Ten SEC wins would make us 12-14 overall and 12 wins would make us 14-14. That’s NOT getting us a bid much less a 5 seed or better. It might not even get an NIT bid.
Do you think we go on one hell of a run and beat both Louisville and Texas and then run through the SEC like a buzz saw? Because that’s what it would take. I’ve seen absolutely nothing to indicate that’s remotely possible.
IU and UCLA, where coaching careers go to die. They ain't UK.He won't go to any school, that is the point. UCLA and IU are bluebloods and UCLA has more banners than anyone. IU has 5. While both need to be resurrected, neither are crappy programs. TX also pays well, invest heavily, and has nice facilities and is easy to recruit. Again, not a bad job at all. Brad wants to be in the NBA and has stated so repeatedly. You can offer him 15 million and he will turn you down, but be my guest embarrassing yourself. You definitely don't seem like the type to mind!
Take a look at a couple things. There is a stark difference between Cal's first 5 years and his last 5. Two E8's in his last 5 years. The first 5 years is never going to happen again. Those transcendent players are no longer available and if they were (Zion), they aren't coming here. Cal can't do 09-15 without those types of players. He has done a good job at Baylor, but do you honestly believe he could do a better job here than what Calipari has done?
That's the problem cause he's too stubborn, to change. What worked okay then, doesn't work any longer. Might have something to do with bench warmers, that thought they'd had a real chance, to play.If I had my choice, I’d like for Cal to stay several more years, assuming he makes some changes that are much needed. But, I’m not sure he has it in him to make those changes. One thing is certain, we’re going to find out.
Lexington crime ain’t breaking any damn records. My family lives there, I used to live there and I go there quite often, it, like any other city, has bad areas, but don't even try to act like it's freaking Gary, IN.One of those schools can have him. I guarantee it won't be a major contender that hires him away.
Lexington crime is breaking records. I think they exceeded their previous highest homicide number in October. Not really a paradise either.
Remember, you said this team would be, at worst, a 5 seed. That gets more and more laughable to me with every passing day.I would say the drug crimes here are worse. At least in the region as a whole. Lot of meth and heroine in this area. Some of the shooting here have been gang related as well. Had 2 or 3 just this year at the mall that were all gang related. Also been several shootings and issues on campus the last few years as well.
Well done.Our choices are Few.
I don’t care if we have 1 draft choice in 10 years.
Wouldn't want Izzo or Donovan. But in all honesty, unless you personally know these guys, you can't say they wouldn't. You made a statement like you know for a fact they wouldn't, but you really don't know that.Wright, Stevens, Donovan, Few, Izzo would all not come to UK no matter how much money you give them.
My salary demands are as follow:I’ll do it. 500,000 and I’ll never ask for a penny more.
The "trouble waiting to happen" aspect doesn't concern me much. Calipari was "trouble waiting to happen" before he came here.Scott Drew wouldn’t be called, he wouldn’t be considered, and he wouldn’t be offered. He’s a good coach for an Arkansas or Baylor, not UK.
And his teams are undisciplined and flame out.
Not sure what some of you are seeing there. He’s also trouble waiting to happen, there’s that little issue.
