If the twins come back I don't see Newman here. If they leave I think he's a lock.

The feel you get from seeing how Cal's recruiting of Newman, Zimmerman, etc... and just NBA mock drafts.

Gone: Towns, WCS and Lyles are gone for sure. Twins seemingly are leaving as well.

Hard to call: Dakari wants to go (I think this is why so much push for Zimmerman) but he really can't with the year he's had.. Booker is looking more like a kid that comes back as well. Poythress wanted to be gone with injury de-rails all of that.

What I'd expect:

PG: Ullis/Briscoe
SG: Newman/Matthews/Hawkins/Briscoe plays some here as well.
SF: Booker/Poythress/Matthew/Newman plays here when we go 2 PG sets.
PF: Lee/Poythress/Skai/Willis
C: Dakari/Skai/Zimmerman

I think there is one more forward in the mix that may be waiting to see what shakes out on UK's roster before committing.

We have two guards that led us to the title game as freshmen, and have led the team to an undefeated season thus far, and could potentially win the title for us this year, and all the OP can worry about is if they can leave so that we can get Newman on the team? In the middle of our historic run? Get the f*** outta here.

Yep. Who the hell cares about this garbage right now? No one should be thinking about recruiting or NBA. Focus on this run and then in a couple of weeks you can think about it.

Andrew is being projected as a mid-late 2nd round pick, and I'm seeing mocks with Aaron going undrafted. If that's an accurate picture of their situation, I don't see them leaving.

I think Towns, Cauley-Stein, Booker, and Lyles are locks to go. I'm on the fence with Dakari, as I've seen him all over mock draft boards.

God, you are miserable. How are you not banned?

Some of your past gems:

Look who the coaches were during that time - Smitty(lousy coach), Gillispie(lousy coach) and Calipari(lousy coach).
I think some of the decision to go has to do with their egos.

After all, if they play ball at OAD University(also known as UK) and
return for a second year, doesn't everyone think they were overrated?

It might also have something to do with Calipari screaming at them all
the time and pointing out their mistakes during press conferences and
interviews.
Some of you posters have your lips so firmly
attached to Calipari's butt that you think he walks on water and is the
greatest coach ever. A guy who has admitted that he will do things to
hurt the program...But I guess too many of you are just like Calipari - you only care about
the name on the back of the jersey, not the front. And yet, I'm sure,
you tell people you are UK fans.
Calipari saying that was a slap at UK basketball and showed how ignorant he is about UK basketball and its fans.

Some posters before have said that Calipari said that because he was
selling the program to future recruits. UK basketball does need any
selling points like that. It is much bigger than that egotistical coach
and will do just fine when he's gone.

Maybe the OP read the story on the front page about Malik Newman and it put this thought in his head. Seems like a reasonable, although possibly ill-timed discussion, but nonetheless something that is going to be discussion worthy as we wind down the season and it reaches conclusion.

Calipari will handle it regardless who stays or goes, but would Calipari rather have the Harrisons as juniors, or add Malik Newman as a freshman?

I could be completely wrong about him. But from the description I've read about Newman (wanting guaranteed minutes), I don't want him. But it's not my decision.

However if Aaron, Andrew, Ulis & Booker return, I really can't see Briscoe, Matthews and another guard coming to UK. If we returned those 4, I could see Briscoe asking for a release and UK granting it.
I expect, whoever returns, that our backcourt will be pretty good next year.
The front court, depending on who leaves/returns, could have the much bigger variability. Worst case I could see us with Lee, Willis, and some freshmen. I don't think that will happen though.

Maybe if you focus really hard, you can help the team win! Also make sure to get your rest and eat healthy. The Cats are counting on you to keep focused!

Not sure why some are suddenly up in arms .. We've been on a title run since November and there have been plenty of threads of a similar nature. Yes, sometimes it's annoying, but just comes with the territory of what Cal has brilliantly done at UK. After we win it all, do you really think the fan base is just going to sit back and revel in the moment more than 15 minutes or so?

Yes. It is more amazing that people here think they would have an effect on the game like this.Totally delusional...

No way Cal can manage 7 guards next year...unless all the front court guys leave and he has to go with 3 maybe 4 guard line ups...

Harrison
Harrison
Booker
Ulis
Matthews
Briscoe
Hawkins

Twins would start...but tyler and devin could be the best back court in the nation on their own and are going to want their time to shine and grow as Alpha Dogs as well as present their case to the League...

Matthews and Briscoe didn't come here to sit...

Hawk will be a Jr and at some point Cal is going to need to see what he really can do so he can perhaps be a senior leader and hold the fort his last season after another mass exodus...

I think the plan behind the scenes is to get the twins to go...for no other reason than room...and to a lesser extent the same reason we get on Roy...Twins coming back for year 3...BBN tends to shake their finger at coaches and programs that retain pro caliber players for extended periods of time...

Twins stock may not get a whole lot better...another year who knows...NBA will have that much more film to nit pick...maybe their numbers slack off because they are sharing time with 3-4 other guys...god forbid an injury...

all those things other coaches could use..."well you UK has a lot of guards and they're not all going pro after the first year anymore...you'd have to wait..."..."john held the twins back...their stock fell...one got hurt..."

Yeah, but if the Harrisons are not projecting out well (as they are not) in mock drafts than they are not really pro caliber as you say. Plus, Cal can make it work with two 3 guard rotations...Hawkins is not that important if we have all those other guys. He is not going to play anyways even if the Twins leave as that means UK gets Newman and you have Booker, Ulis, Newman, Briscoe, and Matthews in your 5 man guard rotation at the 1, 2 and 3.

There is not a point guard in the country I would rather have than Andrew Harrison period! Recruits see how much Cal and the staff improve their players, I'm not worried with the recruiting.
