Any Alabama football fan who is complaining about their team just needs to quit following altogether. No major sports team between college and pro has done more than Alabama over the past 12 years. Saban wins a title almost every other year lol.
It’s uncanny, actually. The facial expressions, the hand gestures, the words - he and Cal could be brothers.
They’re getting their money’s worth with Saban. Comparing him and Cal as far as what they’ve accomplished is laughable

If Calipari’s recruits had stayed 3-4 years like Saban’s, he‘d have Saban results.

And Saban delivers like 500% of what Cal does. Granted, you could say that about pretty much every other college basketball coach in the country. Saban is a bargain at his salary and would be a bargain at $25mm.
100% agree with this. The sports are apples to oranges. Now the people will come back and say cal could have experience if he wants but no team is getting wall or towns to stay 3 years like college football coaches get the benefit of their studs to do.

There is NO comparison for Saban. Cal needs to win at least 3 more Ships to even be considered in the same breath. Heck, Saban has passed the Bear at Bama.
Imagine thinking they’re playing for our entertainment.
Of course winning is everything. However, winning with some of the greatest players of the moment and all time makes for great memories in my opinion. College basketball at Kentucky allows us to 'know' and appreciate the players because there is such a large audience to consume the bits and pieces of the details about them. Besides, everybody knows that those agonizing losses or disappointing seasons make the wins so much better.
I would not bet against Cal winning games, titles, and championships for a good many more years. Do the Cal haters understand that losing Cal means another couple of years of the newest version of Billy Gillespie? You do understand that Gillespie was always the jokester hired to coach losing basketball so that someone as good as Cal would follow Smith, right? It also obligates the 'pain' of watching him continue to win like crazy elsewhere. Given the magnitude of his success, Cal leaving also means that one of Kentucky's greatest rivals will land him and Kentucky will face his teams in opening season games and the season ending tournament with great regularity.
If I hated Cal, I would hate for him to beat the **** out of the next Gillespie-led teams at UK. What great coach would follow Cal even after the interlude of losing a la Billy Ball if the few drive him away? Not one. Instead, there would be a string of exciting young up and comers with no necessary confidence that they win.
Of course, what makes the open hatred by the few so despicable is the melange of ignorance and politics that motivate it.

Who would want to sit down to turkey dinner with the few of you who would complain to the host how much better you could have prepared the meal, having never done so themselves. If you measure the results as championships Saban has delivered exactly 500% of the results since Cal signed on here.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard nor will any of Sabans players make a comment about him like that. Wouldn’t surprise me to hear more of Cal’s say it.

Hell of a lot easier to win a championship in football than basketball. You get your players longer, no where near as much parity, definitely more of a team sport (one guy going off isn’t likely to beat you)., etc.

I get what you’re saying about retaining players being key and agree. A lot of our own basketball fans want to compare Cal to Saban I sure don’t.

No, it isn't. Why do the same handful of teams win it every year? Meanwhile look at the Final Four the past decade. All manner of different teams.

No one is saying Saban and Cal are on the same page but merely speaking alike. Coach Cal is always saying the same exact things Coach Saban said in this interview. There was not one thing about the both of them being alike in coaching or in what they achieved in their careers. Just saying they think alike.

The thing I love about Saban was his willingness to go away from 3 yards and a cloud of dust philosophy to a high powered offense when he realized the game had changed. You've gotta adapt or get left behind. That's my main criticism against Cal.

We understand that. The difference is one of them has earned the right to think and feel that way, and one hasnt.
