What is the story on Addie Deal. She played 5 minutes and took one shot. This has the makings of a transfer.
Maybe she's just struggling as a freshman adjusting to the college game and isn't as good today as the players in front of her. Not every highly ranked recruit looks like CC their first year. What is the story on Addie Deal. She played 5 minutes and took one shot. This has the makings of a transfer.
Did you actually watch the game? Baylor is super long and athletic. Clearly she’s not quite where a lot of us thought she might be. And that’s ok. Explain why she would transfer? She’s going to get better. She’s not transferring to UCLA and immediately starting, or anywhere else right now. Just let it play out. What is the story on Addie Deal. I mean, expecting a five-star (9th in the Country!) to be ready to be above-average or even great isn’t expecting too much.Maybe she's just struggling as a freshman adjusting to the college game and isn't as good today as the players in front of her. Exactly why a 6’0” ball-handler is generally better to have on the floor.Did you actually watch the game? Baylor is super long and athletic. I am sure you were comfortable and above average at your job from the moment you arrived. Back off and be patient. I am sure the key to recruiting is to have fans tear down their own players if they aren't producing right away.I mean, expecting a five-star (9th in the Country!) to be ready to be above-average or even great isn’t expecting too much.
I would prefer Chit-Chat was 6'0" as well, and still had all the attributes she has. But that's not happening, so you ride with what you got, and she brings plenty to the party.Exactly why a 6’0” ball-handler is generally better to have on the floor.
Our 5’4” guard had 5 points and 0 boards.
And what do we have? A five-star guard that’s six feet tallI would prefer Chit-Chat was 6'0" as well, and still had all the attributes she has. But that's not happening, so you ride with what you got, and she brings plenty to the party.
There will be some games where she gets exposed a little because of her height, and it's up to Jan to figure it out at that point. We have a pretty solid bench, so not concerned about Chit-Chat and what she brings at all. She could start at a lot of DI schools, so we're fortunate to have her I believe.
Absolutely love what that girl brings to the table in the early going. I definitely want to see more of her on the court as well. When she had her hair down yesterday, wasn't even sure who it was, couldn't see the #8! Ha!Based on on court performance, I'm actually wondering why Journey Houston did not see more playing time.
It's easy to see all the 5*s that turn into Juju Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo, but forget about all the 5 stars that take a little time to adjust. What is the story on Addie Deal. She played 5 minutes and took one shot. This has the makings of a transfer.
Not sure if you're aware, but she gets to play College basketball for 4 years. She'll figure it out.And what do we have? A five-star guard that’s six feet tallonly playing a few minutes
You keep repeating that she's a five-star. Have you actually watched how she's played these first 5 games? High school ranking means nothing if it doesn't translate in actual games. She'll get there, she's just not ready yet. A game against a ranked non-conference opponent is too important for the resume to sacrifice for the sake of getting freshmen more development. And what do we have? A five-star guard that’s six feet tallonly playing a few minutes
Avg for five-star Freshmen above Deal:You gotta relax. She is a FRESHMAN. We like to praise the Iowa culture and then the second a freshman is taking time to learn the ropes, as fans we are jumping on them and calling them busts and putting unnecessary pressure on their shoulders. If we are going to praise Iowa for their culture, maybe we as fans should also reflect that same culture. Relax and give them time and appreciate the team for what it is. Deep. Jan knows what she is doing and will play Addie when the time is right and when the game starts to slow down for her. Be patient. There's not many freshman around the country that are getting minutes right away.
This should be the expectation, at a minimum. Not sure if you're aware, but she gets to play College basketball for 4 years. She'll figure it out.
She might even figure it out and be an All Big Ten type player, just to piss you off.![]()
Who’s saying it’s not the expectation? You do nothing but ***** on the football board. Happy to have you trolling over here as well. This should be the expectation, at a minimum.
She gets 4 years to prove it. I hope your mental acumen allows you to not hang yourself while you wait to see how it plays out. I wish you well in that endeavor. This should be the expectation, at a minimum.
Avg for five-star Freshmen above Deal:
Oklahoma’s - 30 minutes and 17 points.
USC’s - 31 minutes, 16 points/game
S. Carolina’s - 17 minutes, 8 points
Texas - 24 minutes, 13 points
Tennessee - 17 minutes, 5 points
LSU - 11 minutes, 3 points
Stanford - 27 minutes, 10 points
Just sayin….Deal needs to be on the floor so she can get experience and become a superstar sooner, not later.
Give her a break, she's just a freshman. CC too struggled her first year. And what do we have? A five-star guard that’s six feet tallonly playing a few minutes
Is it you? What is the story on Addie Deal. She played 5 minutes and took one shot. This has the makings of a transfer.
So you want her to play over others that are playing better just because she's 6' tall and had a high recruiting ranking? Do you think Jan isn't giving her more minutes just to piss her off? I don't understand your position. And what do we have? A five-star guard that’s six feet tallonly playing a few minutes
Yes it is expecting too much. "Hope" is different than "expect". And she wasn't generally considered 9th in the country. I think she is going to be just fine, but a few complaining this early in the season about a freshman are exactly why "Come to Iowa where there are so many fans!" isn't always resonating with recruits.I mean, expecting a five-star (9th in the Country!) to be ready to be above-average or even great isn’t expecting too much.

Trolling. So you want her to play over others that are playing better just because she's 6' tall and had a high recruiting ranking? Do you think Jan isn't giving her more minutes just to piss her off? I don't understand your position.
I also want Deal to play 20 MPG and made 15 PPG, but WHAT IF… Jan had chosen to put Deal at PG replacing Chit Chat (which was the pattern Jan went with in most games), instead of putting Stremlow at PG? WHAT IF… Deal had made a turnover that handed the win to Baylor? Deal would now be carrying the weight of the loss on his shouldeesand being dragged on social media and fan forums . I don’t think that would be such an unlikely scenario. Without Stremlow we probably would have lost that game. Stremlow had zero turnovers and was essential to the victory. Jan’s gut feeling was right. She deserves that credit. What is the story on Addie Deal. She played 5 minutes and took one shot. This has the makings of a transfer.

I would just say that the biggest thing for her I believe is just playing in a couple of minute spurts. That has to be so different from what she's used to. Hard to get in any kind of rythem that way. Deal lets the game come to her. Watching her in the McDonalds AA game she never forced things like many of the players. She let the game come to her, and in the second half you could really see her overall skill set. I do think she needs a bit more extended run in games to get in the flow, because she's not going to force things. I think it will come, its just when...Avg for five-star Freshmen above Deal:

I have no idea.Who has more turnovers? The 6 footer or the 5'4" point guard?
Lol, you take the time to create a whole table of various freshmen minutes/points across the country, but can't even look up a simple comparison of turnovers between teammates when it doesn't fit your narrativeI have no idea.
Well, if YOUR’E trying to prove something then by all means provide statistics to support what you are saying. Common sense, Miguel.Lol, you take the time to create a whole table of various freshmen minutes/points across the country, but can't even look up a simple comparison of turnovers between teammates when it doesn't fit your narrative
The 6 footer who plays less minutes has 12 and Chit Chat has 8.I have no idea.
