I still can’t believe there are grown men that pay someone else to mow their yard. ****, why even buy a house if you aren’t going to have any pride in your own freaking yard??!!
I was raised that we take care of our houses, fix them and upgrade them inside and out. I enjoy doing these things and enjoy learning how to do them. I’ll quote my dad “pride in ownership son that’s what it’s about”.

Gotta agree with the DIY ethic. I love learning new things as often as I can, and it's a proud day when you do something you thought you could never do.

Change direction every time you mow? Vertical, horizontal and diagonal? Is it good for the grass or doesn’t matter?
Yes, change directions to get a better cut on the grass and avoid visible patterns showing up on your lawn. But the main thing I think everyone should do is set your mower height up as far as possible. That will help keep your grass green and make it tougher on weeds.

I don't mind mowing. I don't really care how my lawn looks though as it looks like I at least take care of it. I don't bag it though because I hate having to dispose of all the grass clippings afterwards.

Front yard is a small hill so don't want to have to push it up and down the hill. The rest of the yard is longer then wide so would require a lot of u-turns as well. I got a self propelled eco electric mower this year. I was worried about battery life but I have mowed 5 times now and the battery lasts a little over an hour which is fine for me. The mower is so much better than my rusty old gas mower that was a struggle to push.
It's better for your lawn not to bag it anyway. Grass clippings are a natural fertilizer.

I pay people to mow my yard. 2 kids. Mine.

Back when I was growing up, mowing the lawn for the family was called “other assigned duties”. It was part of room and board for living at home.

Instead of getting a Gatorade/Powerade when I was finished...I was allowed to drink water out of the hose...those were the days. Winking

The strip of grass around my house is max about 11 feet wide, so changing directions isn't much of an option. But carpet grass or centipede grass is dominant here so it probably wouldn't matter much. I don't really care as long as it takes up as little of my time as possible.

Do some of you actually like mowing...or do you just like an excuse to be outside/not around family?

Years ago I had a buddy move in with me when I got my first house. He was talking (while we were drinking one day) how he loved doing landscaping, yardwork, mowing...all that ****.

Well, spring hit and I got a mower and was doing some landscaping and said "Hey, you said you loved this ****, come on out and help"

He looked at me like I had two heads...
