He wheel.Wheeley??
That is Jamal Wheeley to you.Wheeley??
Let’s hope and they don’t turn out like the Askew threads. I have faith.Never doubted it. But great news. The people who doubted the value of this kid will be cringing when some of the April threads are revisited next spring.
That’s bold, cotton.First team all conference this season
Askew was an under-aged freshman trying to learn college basketball with little summer or fall prep because if COVID. Wheeler is a junior returning after an All-SEC second team season.Let’s hope and they don’t turn out like the Askew threads. I have faith.
That's wheeley good newsHe wheel.
I believe/hope you are correct but everybody thought Harrow was gonna be a beast too, especially after redshirting a year here.Askew was an under-aged freshman trying to learn college basketball with little summer or fall prep because if COVID. Wheeler is a junior returning after an All-SEC second team season.
I’m confident their years won’t be the same.
Yea, Harrow was never an assist leader in the ACC or an all conference team selection. You're comparing apples to oranges.I believe/hope you are correct but everybody thought Harrow was gonna be a beast too, especially after redshirting a year here.
Askew started the season at 18 as is usual. He reclassified back to his original class. But I think Wheeler will be fine. He's already proven he can play at this levelAskew was an under-aged freshman trying to learn college basketball with little summer or fall prep because if COVID. Harrow never mentally had it to play at UK. He was also really small physically. He played well after leaving to a school without the pressure we have hereI believe/hope you are correct but everybody thought Harrow was gonna be a beast too, especially after redshirting a year here.
He was also the only non freshmen PG we had, up to that point. If you don’t think he was hyped up, well, not much I can do for ya.Yea, Harrow was never an assist leader in the ACC or an all conference team selection. You're comparing apples to oranges.
100 percent. I should save some of these posts for the first bad game he has, a lot of these people hyping him up, will be the same people that demolish him.Harrow never mentally had it to play at UK. He was also really small physically. He played well after leaving to a school without the pressure we have here
Yea, becasue it would be completely illogical to hype the SEC assist leader, SEC 3rd team selection and one of the top passers in all of CBB last year.He was also the only non freshmen PG we had, up to that point. If you don’t think he was hyped up, well, not much I can do for ya.
I don't know about "everybody," but I was sure guilty of thinking Harrow was going to be really good. I don't mind admitting I was wrong on Harrow. But there was stuff going on with him that had nothing to do with a lack of talent or skill set. Unless Wheeler has a similar psychological struggle, then I think it's reasonable to expect similar abilities to what he showed at Georgia, right?I believe/hope you are correct but everybody thought Harrow was gonna be a beast too, especially after redshirting a year here.
Why would anyone who doubts Wheeler be cringing? I remain a Wheeler doubter, but if he turns out to be a good player for UK that will be great news...I would hope we all care more about UK basketball than our prognostications.Never doubted it. But great news. The people who doubted the value of this kid will be cringing when some of the April threads are revisited next spring.
Wheeler's "traditional" stats are impressive....14pts, 4 reb, 8a, 2 stl....but his "modern" stats and some others, are just terrible.Yea, becasue it would be completely illogical to hype the SEC assist leader, SEC 3rd team selection and one of the top passers in all of CBB last year.![]()
Perfect nickname for the SEC’s top assist man.Wheeler the dealer

Perfect nickname for the SEC’s top assist man.
Classic spin btw
He will be a bigtime table-setter and become a fan favorite with his play.First team all conference this season
I’m a little skeptical about the shooting part.It sounds unreal, but Wheeler could average 10 assists a game with the shooters he'll have around him.
I'm giddy for the season to start.
What your analytics don’t ell you is what Crean May have been telling him about how he should play his game. Maybe he told to shoot that much because much of their line up sucked and the coach decided he had a better chance of scoring than anyone else. Also comparing Brandon’s analytics to Wheeler considering the personnel each played with is disingenuous at best. It is a fact the kid led the SEC in assists playing for the second worst team in the league, that not your dubious analytics makes me excited that he will be playing for us.Wheeler's "traditional" stats are impressive....14pts, 4 reb, 8a, 2 stl....but his "modern" stats and some others, are just terrible.
Georgia's raw offensive rating was apprx 102 points (per 100 poss.) and defensive rating 102. But Wheeler individually had and offensive rating of 96 and defensive rating of 105. So he was a net negative 6 points on the offensive side and net negative -3 points on the defensive side. Simply put, he was a below average offensive and defensive player both nationally and on Georgia's team.
These numbers made him 8th on his team in Win Shares per 40 minutes and that number (0.072) would be worst in the Cal era except for Askew. That's right, Harrow's win shares per 40 minutes was better than Mr. All SEC.
The reason for Wheeler's poor analytics is his nearly 13 shots per game (only Brandon Knight averaged more under Cal as a PG) and making a low percentage (only 54% of layups, 22% of 3's) and averaging nearly 5 To's per game.
Hopefully he will be an asset for UK, but the analytics suggest not. Rooting for all you guys and gals that are high on Wheeler to be right. We will find out soon enough.
Regards
I think this kid is a leader and is very knowledgeable about BB. He could be the major steal for us.Never doubted it. But great news. The people who doubted the value of this kid will be cringing when some of the April threads are revisited next spring.
