What slows down the Alabama train

After seeing these recruits declare for Bama. Having the the #1 recruiting class for 8 out of 9 years. I am sitting here thinking what is it going to take to slow down the Bama train that has been steam rolling for almost a decade? I know teams have stretches of ups and downs, I just don't see Alabama slowing down any time soon. It is really depressing to think we could have another 10 years or more of Alabama dominating. Maybe put a cap on star recruits. Similar to NFL salary cap. Teams can only have 2 5 star,10 4 star in any recruiting class. Maybe that would help split the talent up a bit

Nick Saban retiring
Thats what I was thinking too, but would it? I think they have been dominating for so long, and have such a solid recruiting base that they could plug anyone in and it would keep rolling.

Difference i see with what happened to Usc and what could happen with Bama is if they do hire there alum Dabo when Saben does retire I don't see much of a slow down for Bama the 3 of the last 4 championships has been Bama and Clemson
I just don't see Dabo leaving Clemson for Bama. He's already the King of South Carolina, Clemson will pay as much as Bama, and he is in a much weaker conference and division playing in the ACC. Kirby Smart also already has a great job in a weaker division. I'm sure Bama will find a great coach but I doubt anyone will have the kind of sustained success Saban has.

Well said. If Dabo is offered and accepts the Bama job someday, it's business as usual, or very close to it.

This Bama run is so impressive. How many NC did John Wooden win in basketball? I find this interesting though, Saban has only 1 national championship in which he went undefeated. All his other NC teams had one loss.

Dabo would be stupid to leave what he’s built at Clemson to follow in Sabans footsteps. I feel sorry for the coach to follow Saban, other than the money involved.

I get that. And I don't necessarily disagree. But Bama has been at the mountain top for so long there going to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Dabo to land him. Coaches are a different breed with egos and greed. And the pull of the alumni it just wouldn't shock me is all.

And who know the conversation of Bama when Saben retires who replaces him whether they try and get Dabo or someone else. Saban is 70 looks like he's going on 50. He might be around another 10 yrs who knows

SEC cheats more than anyone. At some point the other teams will demand a fix or the Feds will look around

Saban retiring and then being allowed to pick his replacement without a proper succession plan in place?

Depends who they hire. The last time a team was on a run like Alabama they handed the program over to the running backs coach and the slide began and they haven’t recovered

...when the NCAA finally looks online at all the pics of 'Bama players flashing cars and cash.

Anybody who thinks 'Bama is clean hasn't paid attention to the last hundred years of history there.

Does Saban have a son or son-in-law that he wants to succeed him? lol

I am willing to bet that there are more 5 star recruits riding the bench at almost any individual position at Bama than there are 5 star recruits in all of the B1G West. We’ll see Bama in the title every year until recruiting gets fixed.

Until NCAA nuts up and does their job (will never happen), nothing is slowing Bama down other than Saban leaving.

  1. Saban retires. Even if they hire Dabo, it's still a step down.
  2. Player memoirs from former Alabama players that have not prepared for life after the NFL
  3. Investigation by the NCAA for cars and cash
  4. Playoff expansion- More teams in the playoff is good for recruiting. It also allows for more competition, and gives lower teams ability to pull one out against Alabama. Saban doesn't want playoff expansion.

I think Saban will take another stab at the NFL. When that happens Bama will throw a bunch of money at Pelini.

If, and I'm saying if Bama is proven to be dirty, the NCAA has to death penalty them. Or schools need to sue them for fraudulently obtaining millions in bowl and championship money. A lawsuit against, Bama, SEC, and NCAA for hundreds of millions should put an end to that cheating ****.

Fake news

Saban's first season was far from dominating. Not 4-8 Nebraska in 2018, but someone from Troy's conference pulled one out, as I recall.
