Everyone talks about what a wonderful person CMP is, but when it comes down to it, what is he thinking personally? What’s on his mind? Is he a hardline cynic or a hopeless dreamer who thinks everything is rainbows and sunshine?

He’s had cryptic messages about wanting to kill himself at the beginning of the year and by the end of the season he’s coping in real time on the coach’s show about somehow doing better than Cal did the last 4 years like it’s somehow cutting the mustard. I’ve heard from BYU fans that CMP likes to make a lot of excuses.

Now that he’s lost out on Freeman and Rancik, what is he thinking? He has to think that things aren’t looking good for him. There’s no 4th chance if he screws this up. The walls are closing in and the natives are restless. It’s going to get louder as it becomes all too obvious that Stokes probably isn’t going to be here either.

Next year is looking like a disaster and I still wonder if he thinks he’s doing a good enough job of being allowed to stick around.

I’m afraid it might be contagious so don’t want to even consider what goes on between that guys ears.

Pope wants out. He is in the middle of the fire. This is about to get real painful.

I’ve been wondering the exact thing. Like, is he stressed the f*** out rn? Does he realize whats happening around him?

Not a bad gig. He will walk out with close to $32 Million for 3 years of coaching.

Mitch buying out his BYU contract for a one time $6 million payment just keeps hitting harder and harder.

With Pope’s payments and buyouts and buying out the contracts of his assistants after next season, it will be a $50 million debacle that ruined UK basketball.

I rag on Pope 24/7 but ultimately it’s Barnhart fault for hiring him. Dude should never have even been considered as an option for HC

Mitch made the wrong call with Pope. He’s in over his head. Next year is going to be a disaster.

We wasted too much time on a second/third tier option at the 4. Freeman should've been a backup option to a number of 4/5's out there.

Wildly unprepared this portal season. We got a ton of players with remaining eligibility last year and let almost all of them walk. Williams and Moreno are the only relevant returning players. This put us in a desperate position, requiring to find at least 3 starting level players. Of all positions, the 4 seemed like it should've been the highest priority given what we saw from all the 1 seeds this season and the rather slim pickings.
