It was the 1978 ECAC Holiday Festival, not 1979. I broadcasted those games for WRSU my senior year with Dave Siegelman, back when my eyesight was much better, which was required since they stuck us up where the green seats met the blue seats! We also beat SHU in February of 1979 at the Garden.

No, 1978. Greatest game ever.We beat Ohio St in the '74 Holiday Festival in triple OT.
No, 1978. Greatest game ever.
You definitely have the Cinci game in 1977 wrong. We blew them out. I think Cinci came into the game ranked #5 at the time.
Best of Luck,

Definitely greatest game I ever saw. I believe we scored 7 points in the last 6 seconds of regulation to tie the game. No, 1978. Greatest game ever.
Missed that cause my Parents invited me and my friend to go with them to Ft. Lauderdale and I was 19, legal to drink, it was spring break, and they gave me free use of the brand new black caddy to cruise the strip.Definitely greatest game I ever saw. I believe we scored 7 points in the last 6 seconds of regulation to tie the game.

I actually missed one of the greatest games in Rutgers history (1978 Holiday Festival final vs Ohio St) because I was on the team of my High School’s greatest game in history. Upset of Franklin (w Roy Hinson) in the Finals of County Tournament..
Yes, Marshall, whose leading scorer was George Stone. I think Lloyd dropped about 40 on them—to cap his record-setting 129 for the 4 games of the tournament.1967 NIT, 3-1 beat NM and UT lost to SIU beat ?Marshall? In consolation
There is an error here - Rutgers Beat Purdue in 1975-76 season. I was there, so record vs Purdue is 1-0Pulling data from sports-reference.com and looking at the Arena name from 1950-present:

Dinky Proctor.Lol..no..but Dinky did..
Walter “Dinky” Proctor played on NC St National Championship team
In 1983
The festival championship trophy lifted by the team (1:32 mark) was put up for bid at a Court Club auction a few years back. @RUClassof67 was the winning bidder!Colonel,
Thanks for posting the video. Have not seen that in a bunch of years. Have said it many times before, but it was the best and most memorable game I was ever associated with at Rutgers.
Don't even remember what we got as a gift at the end of the game.(I still do have my 1978 NIT watch). I am getting handed my gift at 1:31:21 of the video.(dressed in my brown jacket with the beard and only about 60 lbs. less!). Where have all the years gone??
Best of Luck,
Groz

I thought they beat LIU more than once at Garden. ECAC tournament and regular season
Ahhh - 1967 NIT - our first post-season tourney - such great memories! I remember leaving a game at the Garden and heading back to the Barn to await the opening of the Ticket Office the next day at 8AM. Spent the entire night playing basketball on the Barn floor. They lost twice in opening round of NIT in early 70s, - once to Minnesota w Dave Windfield. Also to Utah, coached by Ex coach Bill Foster and future coach Bob Wenzel (assistant). In the old Garden, Rutgers also was 3-1 in the 67 NIT w Lloyd & Valvano. I was too young for those games, but think I was at the loss to Tennessee in the ‘69 NIT
