well the bandwagon thing was in response to him saying if they’d win multiple championships, would I then convert.
It does bring a little different element to me if an old franchise were to move here. I would still be a Reds fan through and through. Personally hoping the Orioles stay put. If they want to move a franchise start with the Rays to Nashville/Charlotte/Montreal then Oakland to Vegas. We do not need expansion in MLB although it looks inevitable
It would just piss me off because it would emphasize how long it's been since the Reds have been competitive, and here an upstart is kicking ***...
I was on board up until the UK basketball reference...I would trade in all of MLB if it was either/or between them and UK basketball.

We had a cat that hung with my group back in high school (i'm not even going to call him a buddy; I didn't care much for him then and less now) who was a complete ***-clown. Didn't know a line-drive from a pop-up and couldn't name a single pro-player in any sport other than Ozzie Smith for the cards. "You know...he does a back-flip before every game. A back-flip!"
that’s fair, this is a UK board lol. I just love everything about MLB and the Reds, I’m a diehard. I used to be a diehard UK basketball fan but I’ve honestly been more casual the past couple years. Trying to get back into it now, that’s why I’ve been on here a lot more recently than I have in years
Tough question there. I’m a big Nationals fan myself and I don’t see myself giving up that fandom ever but I also want a professional team in Kentucky to cheer for. For me it would probably go like this...

No. I've been a Bravos fan since Hank Aaron days. Also, Nashville or Indy will get a MLB team before Lexington. Sadly, covid has probably set everything back for several years.

Miss those days. He was the ultimate kids baseball player. Ozzie auto’s are just now becoming valuable because he signed so much for kids. I’ve got autographed cards of his that are of him signing autos. Lol.
I got so sick of Jeter being called the best defensive shortstop in history once Ozzie retired. There’s not a person on planet earth who can watch Ozzie play short and call anyone better. His athletic ability at short was mind blowing.
I've been to many Reds games. I love baseball but I've grown to hate all pro sports. Too much money ruins everything.
If I'm a Cardinals fan, I'd be happy about Pujols. He gave you his best years, and would you be wanting to pay that contract for what he's putting out now without the juice?
This is gospel truth. Ozzie Smith is the paragon of excellence at shortshop. No, excellence is not really enough. And I'm a Braves fan. I'll give Jeter his due, but Ozzie is from another planet defensively and held his own at the plate.
I am an Indians fan and I would cheer for a Kentucky baseball team. When they play the Indians I would be happy either way. A pro basketball team would do better but I just about hate the NBA now.
I've been a Cubs fan for 40+ years. Through the good and the bad, (mostly bad). It would be tough to change my fandom of a team. An instate team would probably be a close second.
Tony was a good player who had the good fortune of playing on the BRM. If he had played on a average to crappy team all those years, he would be remembered as a slightly above average 1st baseman (not a great one). I like Tony, but I'd take Votto all day long.
I agree Votto is a better player, he is elite at getting on base. Perez was the heart and soul of the BRM, never could make it back to the WS without him
I get that, but we have another World Series had been stayed put. We were Pujols short of him winning his 3rd, and he’d have a statue next to Stan Musial right now. He blew it and it cost us the history. And he blew his history as well.
It doesn’t get better in baseball than Ozzie, Musial, Pujols, and Yadi statues. Some might say Yankees, but only through the early years. You just don’t give that up.

All of ours are actually Stan Musial, Enos Slaughter, Dizzy Dean, Rogers Hornsby, Red Schoendienst, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, Jack Buck, Ozzie Smith, Yadier Molina ( going up soon). I’d say by far the best statues outside of New York and better then the Yankees since 1980.

No way would I pass up a chance to throw a Griffey statue up. I know he wasn’t Jr from Seattle but still, the guy revolutionized the game and was probably the best clean / natural complete player of the entire era or more. His impact on the game, collecting cards, pitching, and fan interests was unmatched.

put 2000 Griffey Jr on my all time Reds team. Had already slowed down a little but like you said, revolutionized the game. He’s got a spot in my OF any day
theres been a big resurgence of people buying the 80s/90s guys cards rn. I’ve moved most of the non-Reds Griffey’s I had.
Tony Perez is a HOF first baseman and member of the back-to-back WS champs in ‘75 and ‘76. Big Dog was the anchor in those lineups. Taking nothing from Votto, I’d take Perez in his prime over Votto in his. The game was different, so it’s really hard to compare.
Just because Perez won 2 WS, doesn’t mean he’s a better player. He had 3 absolute studs in Bench, Morgan, and Rose helping. Votto has had no where near that support
Votto is absolutely elite at OBP and OPS. Votto is currently 27th in OPS, go look at the guys ahead of him. Perez is in the 400s. Votto already has a higher career WAR, 5 seasons over 6 WAR compared to Perez 2. Votto simply had more prime years
