I normally don’t like when people bash players either but who has bashed WG in this thread? Which comments/ posters are you referring to?

Gabriel also had positive things to pass onto Terrence Clarke prior to him making a decision. He's been back to campus since the McDaniels recruitment too. This is much more blown up and really at a very odd time for Matt Jones to even bother throwing this in the air to be discussed. Silly. Recruiting is about the now/future, the past is done. You'd think a guy who apparently is in the know like Jones would also know of Gabriel's positive impact.
What you get from asking ?'s to recruits is what you want to hear. So if you are looking for a reason to go/not go to a school, you can find it. Adidas had far more to do with Jaden McDaniels then anything Gabriel said.
Yea, if you want to know the full story get it from the "bird-man of south Broadway"Then ask Matt jones.
Matt didn’t really throw it in the air to be discussed. Did you listen to the podcast? (Not being combative, genuinely asking) he said it in passing for like a very brief moment in regards to another question.
@Rupp'sRunt knows the full story.
I think, in time, Gabriel will regret it. He's probably not going to be a long-term player in the NBA. This state can be very good to former players. I doubt he gets those perks, now. This thread makes me dislike WG. Wish I wouldn't have read it
Someone post it but it got deleted
Not sure why it's some big deal.
I guess Wenyen worked out with Jaden McDaniel's brother in a draft camp. He messaged Jaden saying since he was cool with his brother, he should tell him about Kentucky. He said it was hard and also said he made some mistakes. Said JM could be the next Kevin Durant. Then said if your handle is at all shaky, Cal won't let you dribble.
Basically Cal made him stay within himself during games, but Wenyen didn't like it
Why would you dislike him for giving someone real advice? This basketball thing has a huge implications on their lives, it's just entertainment for us fans. Wenyen just told him real stuff from his perspective about his experience. This thread makes me dislike WG. Wish I wouldn't have read it
There's enough Kentucky NBA players to go around that if I have to drop a few, I wouldn't mind.
Committing an actual crime aside.. slandering UK and hindering our recruiting might be the worst offense.
Archie Goodwin comes to mind

If wenyen said this then heck with him! That’s a bunch of BULL!It’s not much of a story. DM’d JM and basically just said some things as “advice”:
- gotta be ready to be the man immediately or sit
- have to be able to create or you will be turned into a spot up wing shooter
- have to play D in the middle
- have to set a lot of screens
basically said that he was told one thing and Cal stuck him in a roll he didn’t love. But he said it himself, he couldn’t put the ball on the floor and create anything, so what Cal sold him on never materialized, but only due to his inability to get better in certain ways. He knew the deal, but couldn’t accept it was his own fault.
edit - I don’t think this has much to do with JM’s decision, but if it did, it’s because JM’s knows fully that he will have some of these same issues.
I will say I think its funny MJ mentioned it bc he read a certain post on here. Gotta look like he's in the knowI think, in time, Gabriel will regret it. He's probably not going to be a long-term player in the NBA. This state can be very good to former players. I doubt he gets those perks, now.
What exactly about his perspective about his experience is a bunch of bull?If wenyen said this then heck with him! That’s a bunch of BULL!
Hmm weird of him to say considering Cal is the reason he's playing in the NBA. He goes anywhere else and he's barely playing overseas.
I agree. It would be reason enough for me as a program to never let him come around. This could be a reason as to why we've lost some recruits, players badmouthing the coach. I hope not.If wenyen said this then heck with him! That’s a bunch of BULL!

that’s not even close to true. Based on his skill set coming out of HS, the major time and shots he would have gotten at other schools and his ranking plus mock drafts having him drafted, your comment is far from the truth
Well if true then it probably cost us McDaniels. That’s the main reason. What exactly about his perspective about his experience is a bunch of bull?
Oh look, a strawman on Cats Illustrated. Yall can't disagree with anyone without attributing comments that the other person didn't make. I dont know if he would be a lottery pick here or or not, I didn't say or imply that he would or wouldn't. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't, Skal wasn't and he was ranked higher than McDaniels. That's not even the point, the point is these kids lives are more important than your entertainment, and let's be clear, that's what these kids are to you.Oh stop, “huge implications?” He wouldn’t have been a lottery pick at UK? Please....
This kid got so beat up by the fans, this wouldn’t surprise me.
I agree that Cal does not, and should not, look bad here. He's very transparent in that if you don't do the basic things, hell if you aren't very good in general, then with the amount of talent you will stick out like a sore thumb. If that turned away a recruit then good.
Also jokes on wenyen. The only person who doesn't come out negative in that story is Cal
Having said that, what WG did was wrong and shows no class. He did turn away a recruit, and it's the sort of thing that can spread in inner circles. Opposing coaches would love that crap and to show a recruit a printed copy of the text dm's from WG.

Wenyen had a connection to him and told him about his experience here. Yall dont even know if that had any influence on his decision or not.
I know you only care about your entertainment and not these kids lives. That's why you're big mad.“straw man?” Lol and don’t pretend to know what is or is not important to me.
