Great to see a Kentucky boy get his shot and make something of it.

I was neutral on Allen. I said give him a shot so the Allen supporters could either shut up or say I told you so.

Tonight the Allen supporters have a right to gloat.

I hope they gloat all season because if this kid plays like that the rest of the season, we will be a dangerous team.

This. He went nuts tonight. Can he do that every night ala Steph Curry? Certainly hope so. I love the kid but he can’t be the only offense.

He’s an elite shooter and he just proved it.

Also, he didn't just fire away every time he felt leather, he took good shots in the flow of the offense. He's a bigtime weapon.

Boston is a good kid. He’s not cocky and completely self centered.

If he can find his shot, he’ll be everything we hope he can be.

Hope so and will keep pulling for him. I've been kind of hard on him during games as I was expecting so much more from him.

EVERYONE did. Almost every evaluator in the country seemingly missed on him so far.

Yep, including those voting on pre season SEC all conference teams. Still hopeful we'll see his real talent before too long.

Cal's stubbornness, I'd say. And I'm not alone in thinking that.
“I could’ve done it today, but I’m giving these guys that are in front of him the room that they need to be able to miss shots,” Calipari said of Allen following Kentucky’s fifth consecutive loss of the season. “We go in practice and they make shots, but they aren’t making them in the game. It’s not, “I come out every time I miss a shot,” obviously you guys know that’s not true. You try to give them room and encourage them to shoot.”

I wonder if Cal wishes he had that one back?

Oh we know, but I don’t think you do.

If all you’re going to do is dismiss every single incident and evidence that comes along which aligns against your worldview, you’ll never get it.

I take it that’s your way of saying you don’t know or we don’t know why he’s been sitting.

It’s a legit question I have and have asked many times but no answer. I know there are likely some conspiracy theories on the subject like Calipari wants to sabotage the program, etc. Since no one seems to know ANYTHING about it, I’m going to make the simple assumption the kid did something Calipari and company will not disclose to the public. Apparently, he’s served the bulk of his debt to the team.

I answered your question twice. You’re being dishonest because it wasn’t what you wanted to see. Cal makes mistakes so don’t be one of those people that irrationally don’t wanna believe it. We all make mistakes.

In so happy for Allen. All any player wants is an opportunity.Cal was to stubborn to give him one.Sometimes you just put the player out there and let him or her just work through it..if they miss shots keep them in..if there defense sucks let them get embarrassed and play through it...have confidence in the kids YOU recruit.Sometimes it doesn't work out but most of the time it does and a coach who gives respect also earns respect...I remember back when Pitino tried to use Tony Delk at point guard at the start of the great 1995-96 season but soon realized that Anthony Epps was the glue for that team.He was exactly what they needed at point guard and the rest is history.Dontaie Allen now knows he can contribute and help this team and it only benefits the team.He proved Calipari wrong and nothing like a coach eating crow even if he can't admit he was wrong

As someone who’s followed Calipari for a very long time (Memphis grad during his days there) I can tell you this guy, at the end of the day, is no longer worried about our position as the top program. Cal is not coaching to be dominant anymore.

Sometimes in coaching the first ring is enough. Take a Pitino, he wanted the second ring more than the first. Not every coach is built like that.

Cal is interested in a legacy outside of championships. He’ll probably write books when he’s done, talk about his time coaching pros, use the relationships ect. I truly believe championships and competition are behind him.

Like I said you can choose to not believe it, dismiss everything to the contrary of your opinion, throw out the evidence. At the end of the day my point is being proven.

If Allen was a problem yes we’d know something. We wouldn’t know details, but we’d know that’s why. It has nothing to do with it as evident by Calipari’s own words. You not realizing this sort of shows you’re probably not geared toward understanding how this works.

I am being as honest as I know how....I haven’t seen an answer as to why Allen hasn’t been playing. My question is a legit question. I haven’t seen a legit answer. A legit answer would be.....

1.) Allen broke team rules.
2.) Allen pissed Calipari off in a game or practice.
3.) Calipari told Allen he hates him and wishes he’d never recruited him.

See that’s a legit answer.....what’s not a legit answer.....

1.) I think he’s not playing him because he puts his favorites first even when they suck.

You see there is Truth and there is Conjecture. I’m looking for the truth with my question.

Yeah right. Absolves the coach for not playing him sooner. Cal finally bowed to pressure. Too many people were asking him why he was sitting when we were 1-6 with miserable shooting. He gave in and we won.

Cal plainly said their were players ahead of him in that quote. I even sent you a KSR article discussing the matter.

My guy, you really need to work your way back to being a UK fan and less a Cal fan. Even if he stayed here 5 more years he’s eventually going to leave. Throwing away your ability to reason in chase of this is no way to go here.

What you’re telling me is you do not understand anything about Calipari or the way he works. Cal has been catching hell about Allen, he would have definitely hinted toward problems if that indeed were the case. He clearly has said otherwise.

let’s get a grip dude. You’re taking the Cal defender thing to places they don’t need to be.

To all the fine folks who've been shitting all over Allen because of your Cal worship, this is why we wanted to see him get a real chance to play.

"He looks lost"
"He doesn't play defense"

Stop

You stop. People like you said the same thing about Willis after he had a good game. Willis became a good player, and I expect the same for Allen, but Cal isn't holding him back. The kid is just now getting comfortable and getting a little confidence and it's starting to show. And yes, I thought Allen should have been getting more minutes, but when he did, he would miss a couple of shots, make a bad pass, and let his man score. It is partly confidence, and I think he is finally getting some.

Very good point. You could tell he was VERY tentative early on tonight. Needed some confidence and I hope it sticks after his performance tonight.

You’re clueless. Allen was an elite, multi level scorer before he got to UK. Cal tucked him behind his draft picks and sacrificed games for the benefit of 2 guys that were playing AAU ball. Allen has had the ability to do this all season.

But you keep on being the Cal excuse maker that you are. Allen just proved how ridiculously bad Cal is and here you are trying to act like Allen just learned how to play.

What's your excuse for what Baker and Juzang are doing now? Come on man, wake up.

He was tentative because Cal yells all damn game long and specializes in taking players out of their comfort zone.

Allen started lighting it up the second Cal got ejected. It wasn't a coincidence.

Do we know why Allen has been sitting for the bench for much of the season?
Because he would have to sacrifice the minutes of Boston and or Clarke. Both of them were five star recruits that were projected as first round picks in the NBA.
Had it not been for Clarke being unable to play tonight, Allen would’ve never been given the opportunity to play through his first half jitters.

It’s true. Fans are generally wrong and just move on continuing to be that Monday morning QB. Never the wrong night to learn.
Says the guy who is sitting here doing the exact thing he's accusing others of.

You’re trying to force your opinion on others, like you just know you're right and everyone else is wrong.

You look almost as bad as Cal… .. almost.
