OP this..thank you for saying it. I hope our fans in the game thread mature. Its not always the refs. There was a stretch where RU lost composure and not playing well defensively, sure there were alot of fouls called on RU, because we didnt handle that situation well. When we settled down we actually got the lead. You have to respond, we blinked for a few minutes and paid for it

Regardless, the loss is not devastating

Hope Pike doesn't let them think they got jobbed.

Just don't let the loss spill into Saturday

Take care of biz at home Saturday afternoon and get back on track

We got slightly outplayed by a very good team. Deal with it.

Honestly I think we slightly outplayed Iowa.

Iowa had 19 or so pts in the last 10:30 on two made field goals. Amazing defensive effort. But the damage was done by the refs in the first 6-10 minutes. Was enough for Iowa to hold on.

Yeah we missed a some opportunities and no ones going to argue that.

But the fact that some boomers on here can’t understand that the way officiating impacts a game isn’t limited to the FT column is more than a bit annoying at this point.

Do you not think that Fran's scene at the end of the half didn't have any effect on the way the game was called in the second half?

They literally tried to foul us at the end of the first half. Fouled Caleb two or three times and they didn’t call it. It worked in our favor. But makes you think. Geez if they didn’t call the foul when they intentionally tried to foul us, how many others did they miss. Rewatch the first 5 minutes of the second half. That was horsecrap

I do think the game was called a little bit unfairly in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half, which certainly helped them a bit, but that's going to happen on the road - I don't think it was egregiously bad overall though. More importantly, Garza abused Myles/Shaq and they outrebounded us by 8. We also couldn't control the tempo the way we normally do, but then again we we were up 1 and fumbled the rebound on the missed FT and then JY missed the easy layup to tie, so the game was there to be won.

He won’t. He doesn’t seem like he makes excuses. This game was there for the taking. They haven’t learned how to close out tough road games yet.

You can tell who knows basketball and who doesn't. Anyone saying that calls "even out" cant be taken seriously

Boylan is so old he should get his eyes checked and Recco couldn't even get the score correct numerous times while listening on Sunday

We certainly didn’t get “jobbed” but the refs called a real ****** 2nd half that favored Iowa and completely changed the way the game was played.

There were at least 2-3 times the announcer went out of his way to comment on how we were fouled but there was a no call.

The refs did a great job in the 1st half. Did they miss the foul at the end of the 1st half? Yea.

But how about some consistency throughout the whole game. That’s all I ask for.

What does that have to do with anything?

What was the take of the TV announcers?
They are usually unbiased.

Did Stephen Bardo say we got the short end of foul calls early in the 2nd half?

I didn’t turn on the game until 6 minutes left, so just asking.
If so, in a close game, that makes all the difference.
Sure, we missed a couple of chances in the end, but that does not wipe out BS calls (regardless of BAC’s ridiculous take on this his entire life).

lol

RU had a 78-77 lead and failed to secure the rebound after 2 missed free throws, they then failed to finish a layup to tie...gotta make the plays,

If the refs weren’t so ****** in the 2nd half our lead would have been bigger. Why can’t you admit that?

So we all can acknowledge home teams get calls

If you can't accept that, then watching basketball is going to be tough.

Was that really a foul called on that out of bounds play with Harper?

It was definitely questionable. But you know they would have called it just the same if the jerseys were flipped.

That was 1 play. Can you name another?
And how many bad calls went against us?
Just asking for a reasonable discussion (since I missed most of game).

So did bardo

Bac dont know ****
Please, Bardo was talking about 2 bad calls, not the whole game. We got 4 points on a blunder in our favor - Caleb was clearly fouled before the end of the half, but the no-call gave us an easy basket and the T gave us 2 more. They call that foul and we have 4 less points. So yeah, things tend to even out.

Did the whistle go our way, no. Sometimes it happens. Balls in and out, Young missing an layup to tie it, the other team hitting impossible shots. Sometimes it isn't your night. Suck it up and win four of your next five and we are a lock tournament team.

Wrong.

Bardo in ONE comment alone said that Iowa got away with fouls on SEVERAL possessions.
