Washington Marching Band

[Jayb01]

This is pretty awesome. Haven't seen this in other posts, and call it OT if you want, but this is what they did as a tribute on Friday to the kid from the Hawkeye band that passed.

Respect!

Only in college football would you see something like this. One of the many reasons why, despite its increasing flaws, I still love it so much.

Definitely better than the Stanford band

Love and hate run deep in college football.

That is a very nice touch by their band. Too bad their fans leave the stands during the performance. I saw a ton of games at Kinnick and we stayed in our seats at halftime to watch the band and when we lived around Iowa City we would go watch the band warmup in the old Fieldhouse before the game and there were hundreds or more fans at the warmup.

What song were they playing?

[eyesofhawk]

Great job, Washington

Indeed, that is Awesome!

Another pretty cool event, shockingly from the NFL but.............The Packers had a moment of silence @ Lambeau before the game in honor of Bears legend Mike Ditka.

Didn't see that one coming, but nice gesture from the Pack organization.

That was during the pre-game show while the UW band played "On Iowa."

That one was good too.

It feels like Wash is classier than most. Somehow I can't see Nebraska or Penn St. doing something like this. Well done.

That’s great to see!
I’ve always thought Washington was a class act. Even when they thumped us in Rose Bowls, they did it with class.
Beautiful campus and lots of cool history there. I highly recommend reading The Boys In The Boat by Daniel James Brown. The book, not the movie.

The Nebraska band wore ribbons honoring him.

Good to hear. Props to them and I stand corrected.

I remember immediately after the '82 Rose Bowl Washington head coach Don James saying he thought if the two teams played 10 games that they would probably spilt 'em 5 games apiece.

Very generous of him and it made a big impression on me, obviously I guess.
