this cannot be overstated. Rutgers threw for less than 1,600 yards the ENTIRE SEASON.
that's 4 games for our boys.
You can't bring rational thought to the free board. We have far too many mindless fans over here who lack the capability to admit their points are absurd.
Let's address some of the stupidity in this thread:
1. "Frost's offense doesn't really emphasize a tight end." Jordan Akins, now with the Houston Texans, begs to differ. He caught almost 60 passes in 2017 at UCF. In this scheme, they create a ton of exotic looks for the tight end.
2. Vokolek is actually very athletic, and that position needs more. Plus, they can flex him out on the perimeter more. He is a more legit vertical threat than Allen or Rafdal with a longer frame than Stoll. Legrone still needs another year of conditioning.
3. You need depth at skill positions for special teams. Vokolek provides with a Big Ten body who can run. Hence the term "roster upgrade."
4. Someone suggested Noa was brought in for "depth." That's laughable. He's a replacement for Stan Morgan period. He is an impact transfer and allows Andre Hunt some time to develop further without becoming a full time starter. Warner backs up Spielman. Wandale and Miles Jones will battle for the Duck R.
5. It is comical how anyone would judge the guy for his statistical production at RU considering their offense was a dumpster fire. They have been unable up muster the forward pass for a few years. Nebraska wad even better with Joe Dailey in 2004, and that team's passing game was dreadful. His numbers were pretty good considering their offense was clusterfvck.
Lastly, Vokolek is a Husker fan. The kid wanted to play for Nebraska his whole life. This wasn't a charity pick up. Athletically, he's skilled enough to play here. When you add that component to his desire, he is easily a valuable pick up.
