I mean, I hope he’s right. However, I firmly believe Cal is too damn stubborn to admit fault and/or change. This has been a rolling saga for several years now.
Cal wants to be known as an innovator not as an adaptor. The problem is he’s out of ideas so he goes back to what he innovated in the past as the game has sped by him.

Turn it around? We are still waiting on the promised revenge tour from the 9 and 16 season!

Do these analysts not realize we have been watching and supporting these past 3 years!!!!

Two 20 point road losses to open up SEC play and he expect him to turn it around ? I can see if the games were close .

And what is the last laugh for Cal?

Dicky V has a job and that's to support NCAA basketball. Providing optimism to one of the biggest programs in the history of the sport is what he is supposed to do. I hope he's right but what would you expect him to say..."Cal has lost touch with his team and has been horrible for the last few years, UK has no hope."

He'd never say that even if he thought it.

Yeah, didn't he say we were going to win the natty last year? He's never wrong. 🙄
I think Dickie V blows a lot of hot air, but we looked like the best team in country and did beat the 2 hell out of the 2 teams that played in the Title game! Injuries derailed that team…With that said I think Cal has lost the ability to connect with the players, our defense sucks compared to what it used to be, and our offense is still built to have the top 3 or 4 best players in the country to be successful. And we haven’t had that type of talent the last 5-6 years…

only because Cal brought in elite recruiting classes and ditched most of what we were gong to get wit bcg
But it didn’t set us back more than 10 years like you said. Anything besides the facts of what actually happened is conjecture. The facts are , within 4 years we exceeded anything Tubby had done since his first year.

we got lucky with Cal just like we got lucky with Pitino after the Sutton debacle. I don't trust Mitch to make a hire that wouldn't be a downgrade at this point. I don't want to be another IU or UCLA in chasing one coach after another trying to get back to relevance

Vitale is way too old these days
He also just went through a cancer scare and got through it.

I may not agree with his take on this topic, because if it takes a HOF coach three years of mediocre basketball to realize it's time to change something, he should go. But I'm not going to beat on a guy like Dick Vitale who has given his entire life to the game we all love to ***** about. And, I've been trying hard to be more empathetic to everyone as I get older. Dick went through a lot, so maybe a few of our fans need to step back from the insults and be a little more classy.

Yesterday was a chance for this team to show that when it's best player is struggling in a game that they can take the load and push through. Instead they folded like a cheap suit. The question from that is, are they even capable of stepping up when Oscar isn't having a good game. The answer, at least yesterday, was a resounding no.

Can they get better, sure. Can they make as big of a jump as they need to? It's not looking good. Ill keep some hope, but man, it's dwindling for me.

So when cal doesn’t turn this around and we miss the NCAAT entirely we have this post from vitals to refer back too when the media starts calling us unreasonable. Vitale said this team is too talented for him not to turn it around so when he doesn’t only cal can be blamed at this stage. Thanks for teeing this up for us Dickie V.
I think that Dickie V is a great person, but he will never criticize another coach, no matter the won-loss, transfers out, lack of tournament success etc. All coaches are in the same fraternity and their motto is - you heap praise on me and I will do the same. They can't and won't offer criticism. I have been waiting to hear from him and could have written his reply. Wish him well in his recovery!

you could be right, I seen Bob Knight praise Dave Bliss as one of finest coaches in basketball and he covered up a murder

Vitale was a coach that was unceremoniously fired, so he'll always side with a coach

The only time he refuses to support a coach if they do something unethical.

Cal could go 0-30 and Vitale would say give him a chance

What is the definition of turning it around now? I mean the bar is so low. Does qualifying for the NCAA tournament mean it is turned around?

There was a guy during the 20-21 season that said when Cal got the train rolling again we would all look stupid. It's rolling alright. Right off the tracks.

I’m sure that kiss with Ashley Judd was highlight of his career. Kinda had the feel of a schoolteacher coming on to a milf. Though, she ain’t no milf anymore. He’d had to close one eye to kiss her now. …. ….. sorry

The portal has eliminated any ‘setting back ‘ . It takes a good coach , with one or two hits in the portal , throw in any holdovers from the previous coach and a couple four star recruits and you’re solid in a year . ’Setting back ‘ is recruiting restrictions via sanctions and mass transfers with restricted ability to restock a roster thru transfers or recruiting ….such as what Pitino dealt with in 1989

Be generous in your comments about Vitale. He does have significant health issues.
Health issues don't give you a pass on making idiotic comments. If his issues are such that it prevents him from knowing what he is talking about, he shouldn't be commenting on active sports figures. Vitale isn't just some random Joe, he is a public figure in sports who speaks somewhat as an expert. So, if his comments don't make sense, there is nothing wrong with responding as such. It isn't like I am commenting about his health issues because I never would. I have had 3 siblings die from cancers just so you know.

His prediction on KY basketball has nothing to do with him going through a cancer scare- that has nothing to do with me saying he is old- it means he doesn't have a clue about college basketball IMO if he thinks Cal will turn it around

I would venture to bet that Vitale knows far more about basketball than just about everyone on this board. disagree with his opinion but don't disrespect the man

The man shouldn't disrespect himself. Again, the comments are about his basketball knowledge pertaining to Cal and not about his health. Why are you trying to blend the two?

I’ve calmed down now, I think that Cal and Kentucky need to split, it would be mutually beneficial for both, but I’m already willing to watch the team again and think that they have the pieces to turn it around.

Well, I have made my position clear even if you don't agree with it. I am not allowing Cal pumpers to get away with nonsense.

These people just don't understand that we don't want to turn it around. We want it done right from the start. How many records have to keep falling for them to understand the problem we are complaining about? We don't want a process every year. We want to look like a team that is prepared at the start of the season like most every other top team.
