That facial expression above says a lot. Not much in those 11 minutes to latch on to. Sarge seemed to ask question about the pressure to improve on 1-11 and I think replied that he was focused on things which he can control. I guess the record is outside of his control.

Someone else asked about Baker coming and going so quickly and he had the gall to say that if you hire good coaches they are going to be in demand for other opportunities. Yeah that was the case this year with most of the changes! Also said you always have a list of replacements in your pocket. Would like to see that list and if the guys he wound up hiring were on the initial one. I am sure he had the lower level directional Connecticut HC on his list of OL candidates from day one.

Finally he says JLew is between QB and TE then says he wants to move to TE. Then to me he is not between positions. If he going to try and be the next DC Jefferson then let him go and try to learn the position full time.

I could go on but as you can see I am not impressed. Haven't been for awhile.

He has such a great personality. He really has that fire in him. Gets me so excited. I’m so excited I want to slit my wrists.

Ha good question. 1-11 not under his control? I guess it isn’t !
I posted this in another thread that this ash interview was rough to watch and listen . Dumb questions by the press too! Asking about the basketball team and the defensive coach that left . Cmon! And vanilla answers by Ash . Every player he gets asked about loves football! We get it.
How the hell did this guy impress Hobbs with such a bubbly personality? If Hobbs hired a route 22 used car salesman there would be more hype surrounding the program ...I am dead serious. It would be false hype, but hype nonetheless.

Maybe you should stop following RU football if you feel that way. If you can't stop, nobody would stop you.

Maybe you should stop drinking the frick’n Kool Aid.
Maybe you should change your screen name to RU#1,000,000,000 fan. It has nothing to do with Kool Aid. If following the team makes them unhappy to the point of wanting to slit their wrists maybe they should stop following the team or seek help. Those are concepts even you should be able to understand.

Can't find a single thing wrong with anything in that press conference. His opening statement exuded positivity and excitement for have a core of experienced players and new faces on the coaching staff. He answered every questions directly and succinctly.

No, I am not trying to prop the guy up or cheer for him, but some of you guys are reaching here, or just faux outraged by everything the guy does/says.

Here is Ryan Day's presser after Spring practice. Do not see any perceptible difference in tone or demeanor. Ooh, ooh, look at Ryan Day's face in the freeze frame. He looks upset or constipated. #Ridiculous

He’s like a robot coach.

How he could be the best interview ever when he has zero charisma. Is a real mystery.

I'm convinced that he was the first interview, Hobbs never having to interview for a Football HC opening became enamored with this milquetoast, epitome of fly over country bumpkin thinking WOW HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. He said Ohio State, National Championships, and URBAN MEYER!

This dude won’t last into November. He knows it too which is the sad part.

If that’s the case, he should have been fired after last season. We would be losing money keeping him . Hobbs should have limited involvement in choosing the next guy .

Since the season ended I have slowly begun to have some optimism about this year. Watching that interview brought me back to reality. Zero charisma, excitement and reason to be optimistic.

We all wish this was the case but barring a repeat of last season I get the sense he’s back. Him coming back was a 2 year commitment from Hobbs based on the financials imo. Hobbs won’t make a move unless absolutely forced to it seems like. Unfortunately for the fans we all see where this is headed much like the end of the flood tenure
