For those silly posters still basking in the glory of a 16-point loss to an ok Indiana team, Vedral needs to show something today. Bottom line. Coaches and players know what that means and he simply hasn't shown it to date. Schiano didn't bring him to RU just to simply be a placeholder. Yes, we will likely lose by a decent margin, however, this isn't your typical good OSU defense. Vedral should be able to move the ball a bit and look somewhat competent in week three - especially as a veteran grad transfer QB. He isn't some deer-in-the-headlights freshman! Let's see what happens. I hope he does OK, but could we be watching....Vedral's Last Stand?

I don't think what happens today changes his status but he does need to run a little more. Seemed like he hardly ran in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of Indy and that is when the game got away from us. He can't do it with just his arm.

Vedral is the QB. Injury is the only thing that will change that.
That is not consistent with GS' QB history. Was not surprised at all to see the WildKnight enter last week. At a minimum, if the struggles continue, we'll see more WildKnight. And, yeah, Vedral's running backwards was a problem.. step up and throw or step-up and run FORWARD.

Coincidentally, just heard Michael Lombardi absolutely shred Vedral's performance last week on his VSIN show this morning. Guess he agrees with me and disagrees with most of this board.

Why can’t we just trust the coaches for one season? I’m not saying don’t question them, but at least give them some time to develop their players.
Develop Vedral? He's a veteran grad transfer and this is a shortened season. The coaches want to win games now despite what you think. This is big boy football.

Two games. Without a spring practice. Without OOC games to get a feel of running things.

Oh, that’s right, I forgot. You’re the Pandemic Professor who’s been through this scenario before in what lifetime?

Have you ever suited up as a B1G Quarterback before?

Funny you don’t bring up game one against MSU where we were a big underdog yet won with Vedral. Bottom line is our OC knows what he has in Vedral and needs to gameplan accordingly.

Is that your excuse for QB's playing well for Big Ten teams such as Purdue and Northwestern?

Look, I love this team and this staff and 100% believe in them. I have an issue with this QB after what I've seen based on the fact he's a veteran grad transfer. We'll find out more today.

Since I don’t know Michael Lombardi ‘s expertise in the QB evaluations I write it off

Brought it up a lot on this board. Great team win there but certainly Vedral wasn't that good in that game. Was underwhelming and missed a lot of throws. Those that know, know.

A shortened season with less practices for Vedral with his new teammates to gel. We are all aware the coaches want to win. If they thought someone better than Vedral was on the roster he would be playing

I know, just like everyone else, that Vedral when used correctly by the OC is a game manager, like we saw in game one. OC got away from the play calling in the 2nd and 3rd quarter against Indy. That is what we all know

RUBob, there are more than a few pretend Rutgers fans. Some have been on here for years and years posting almost daily their anti Rutgers comments.
Lol huh? I'm the most positive RU poster on here. I predicted our MSU win in a thread before that game (which you can read) and everyone said I was crazy because we aren't that good. Clown.

Vedral needs to play better. I'm not thrilled with the wr play so far either.

You’re definitely not the most positive RU poster. You may have the highest expectations. Those may or may not be reasonable expectations. But that’s not the same as being positive. You’re actually being quite negative.

Huh? About the QB? Yes, negative based on what I see.

About everything else on the team? Nope. I LOVE Schiano and everything else I see so far.

Dude there is a long list of positive posters. To say you are the most is disrespectful to Rutgers Al, myself and a boatload of others. Being positive about an upset win is night and day different then bashing our starting QB who has played all of 2 games with his team ( and had zero spring practice).

I agree with him using his legs more. He doesn't have the strongest arm and it seems like his passes may be a bit low with the tips. We most likely won't be celebrating a win today, but seeing some new wrinkles in the offense would be refreshing.

You are underestimating the talent on Indiana. They are the 2nd best team in the B1G East and will prove it today against Michigan. I give them the best chance to knock off OSU this year.

Scils, I never mentioned your name. Not very familiar with you at all. I was speaking , overall, about some on here. Some even use Rutgers references in their names , but are actually Seton Hall, State Penn, Northern Indiana College, Syracuse, etc. fans.

Was he as underwhelming as your post ?
From the opening salvo all you did was attempt to denigrate Vedral. Has he been great no. Has he shown he can do certain things well even though he had no spring ball... no real summer prep ....you then have the chutzpah to say you are one of the teams biggest supporters. You must be a comic with that line. Saying he was not that good may be a fair comment as even the kid admitted that. Much of his negative stats have been due to his attempting to do too much. If in the future games we can show improvements at WR... O line... he can correct his holding the ball too long then we can win a couple of games this season. He’s not Fields and we get it ...I just wish fans were a bit less judgmental for a few more games.

OP is clueless if he thinks this is an OSU defense that RU can drive the ball on...rofl. They may be weaker than normal in the secondary but weaker for them is still 3x better than most of the B1G.

And with little ability to establish a run game, Vedral is suddenly going to do more against the best team RU will see all year...lol. Both guards are liabilities but there isn't any real depth to swap them with and the TEs aren't great blockers either but have to stay on the line most of the game to help.

Now with that said, Vedral isn't a good QB but he's the best of the bunch and has shown he can make some plays with good touch on the ball. Multiple QBs will play today because of the score so Art and maybe others will get some time. Barring injury Vedral is no doubt the starter for the next few games and then they will reassess if needed.

Considering the offensive playbook isn't more than 60% installed (per Schiano) the coaches are not going to be using a short leash on the QB.

OK? I hope someday Rutgers can get to just an ok #13 ranking. Apparently they've done something more than just OK for coaches and sportswriters across the country to vote them that high. But if you're OK with #13 in the country being just OK, then top #20-25 must really suck.
