You should have seen the clock management before half. He must have had ice cream waiting for the team in the locker room.

I can still remember when he was hired...it went from

1. Who?
2. I have never even heard of him!
3. I think the Husker social media account was hacked

To

1. I did some research and this guy is good.
2. He did more with less at Oregon State
3. Once he has a real weight room and not just a bowflex...watch out

Nailed it. Amazon orders to Nebraska of the Energy Bus skyrocketed. We're gonna dominate again, the Nebraska way!

The way some of the dorky posters tried to convince themselves that it was this genius hire was amazing.

The part that I felt was most interesting was seeing how many posters had never even heard of the guy, that was a big eye opener as far as what a lot of Husker fans are really like when it comes to watching CFB.

The second part that cracked me up was posters pretending like recruiting to Corvallis was like recruiting to Kosovo.

Thn, pretending like the resources would change something. Riley was not a .500 coach at Oregon State because of the weight room and location. He was a .500 coach because that is who he is and the only reason he was at OSU for so long and for two different stints is because he was happy there and willing to take a lame paycheck and thee school was happy to pay him lame cash for lame results.

****, Dennis Erickson went there and turned them into like a 10 or 11 win team in a season.

Did he ever manage to find a house where the paint fumes weren't overwhelming?

I didn't realize that all eight USFL teams will play all their regular season games in Birmingham.

There will be 32 games at Protective Stadium (UAB home field) and eight at "historic" Legion Field.

Today is a triple header. I read tickets cost $10 (kids free), and are valid for all three games.

As a comparison, tickets for the state finals in Memorial Stadium are $8 for adults and $6 for students; I believe the NSAA clears the stadium after each game.

I think most people here were baffled by the hire, but yeah there were definitely some diehards who swore it was a great move. My favorite theme was the notion that Tommy Armstrong was holding the team back, and that everything would fall into place when future NFL star Tanner Lee finally took the field.

Makes you wonder. Is he dragging his wife all over the country on these 1-year gigs or is it a long distance marriage? Amazed that this guy is still getting jobs. He probably works for peanuts, knowing Nebraska paid him a king's ransom

Mike Riley, part of the U Suck Football League. Of course, any former Husker players excluded! ;)
If you go to the ESPN homepage, there's a blip about the fan friendly football League starring 48 year old Terrell Owens, and nothing about the USFL. They should have asked the Donald to get involved.

Two more things...

The paint fume joke got me in trouble years ago...some people found it to be insensitive!

Also, there is a reason that guys like Fyfe just shut up and do/say the right things...now he is on a path that could (in a few years) land him a really nice coaching gig with a fat paycheck.

I think this is smart. Keep expenses down and maybe the league will last. If it gains traction, start moving teams to home cities. OR keep an eye on ratings. If it plays well in certain towns, “relo” teams to those towns.

And then they will wonder why the league failed.

1. Birmingham is a **** hole. outside of the gulf, the state of Alabama is trashy and undesirable to visit. So why would anyone ever want to go there for a semi-pro game?

2. What kind of loyalty can cities build behind its teams if the teams never play in its cities?

3. Most people hate the Crimson Tide. When I hear Alabama and football, I think of the crimson tide and generally how awful college football really has been since Nick came to Bama. Then I think, “why do I want to watch an Alabama league in spring” and then say Screw this I’m going outside and enjoying the weather.

is there a way to short the league? I’d throw some $$ down on that. Everyone keeps trying to make football in spring happen but they lack any vision. Thought the league that was going to do an ex-college star theme had a little shot but they couldn’t get financing

Why do people blame him? Blame who hired him. Do you think he was trying to fail?

No kidding...I applaud him!

Imagine you are at your job, not doing all that good at it and out of the blue one of the biggest names in your sector calls and basically offers you a winning lotto ticket.

I would have said "yes" right when I got the call.

I was that guy 100%, I admit it.

I so desparately wanted it to be true. I was an obnoxious guy for 2 years and 3 games, and I am pretty sure I apologized to a lot of people after that.

It’s sad how a desire for something to be true can turn someone into a crusader. I feel like I should apologize all over again.

You were never as bad as 3-4 others, at least not that I can remember.

Holy cow. There’s a reason guys like Archie and Red Rover can’t show there faces here anymore.
