From other articles I read, I was under the assumption that the switch to the Briles/Heupel system was by Fordham’s OC Kevin Decker but if it’s Conlin that’s fine with me too.

I’m good with giving a shot to any of options 1, 4 (Conlin or Decker), 9 , 10 and seeing if any of them can possibly work.

Only caveat with Dennis is that he’s only been at OSU in his coaching career so is he capable of doing more with less?

The thing about Matt Simon that is intriguing is that he ran exactly the same offense against us that Schiano would love for Rutgers to run - just ground and pound until the defense is totally worn out.

For what it's worth, I wish they would look towards an offensive coordinator pick coming from a Texas school (TCU, Houston, SMU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech) - specifically someone that can open up the Houston and Dallas areas to recruiting for Rutgers. These teams always score points and its because they always have QBs on their roster capable of throwing the ball all over the place. Let's get a coach that can recruit one of these TX kids to come to NJ.

Aside form money, why would someone leave a respectable OC job at Minnesota for the same position at RU?

I would imagine it would have to be significant amount of money, which Minn might match anyway.

Didn't OC Fridge basically not leave campus while he was here?
He did pretty well as OC.

Hiring for recruiting only works for 1-2 years.
Then you need actual coaching results. Otherwise what exactly is the recruiting pitch?

At his age and physical condition I don't think Fridge hit the recruiting trails much.

That wasn't his fault. Strikes me that the was a bit of correlation between that and Schiano and Hafley leaving.
I have no idea if it was somewhat his fault, partially his fault, or not his fault at all ... but if he wasn't doing any recruiting, it was partially his fault.

Not for a coordinator, they just are not as involved in the recruiting process.
If they aren’t involved they should be fired. Coordinators are very important in the recruiting process. They should be on the road just like all the other coaches.

Not if he was brought in to specifically work with the QB and call the offensive plays from the box. He was not brought in for a long term stay,

I think it going to a surprise hire. Some of the more established guys on the list don’t want a total rebuild job. I could see it being someone like Craig Ver Steeg or Rob Spence. I think the most on the list is McNaulty if he is fired.
Not a fan of any of those names. I hope not.

Would consider 1,4,7 and 10 but not sure any would be interested. I don't see Nunzio and don't want McNulty. I am sure Surace watched what happened to Gleeson. Simon and Cignetti seem like GS candidates.

I think @NickRU714 would be OK with McNaulty. Even McNaughty. But just not McNulty. I don't think poor @NickRU714 will be consolable if RU hires him back.

Mcnulty was already fired here by hobbs in season
That was a pointless move by Hobbs. Ash was the problem along with talent. Changing coordinators mid season is more symbolic then anything and when you fire the head coach everyone knew he be gone anyways. You saw how pointless it was in the Indiana game.

Heard a rumor that Hobbs went to McNulty to offer him the temp position and he told Hobbs not interested. At that point you have to let him go.

That may be stronger than a rumor and there was a little more to the story IIRC, but I can't recall the details. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. It broke @NickRU714 's heart.

Hire for coaching - not recruiting.
Quasi chicken and eggs as to players and systems. I think we have to be realistic of the players most likely available to us and have a system that those players can thrive in. In the NY/NJ/PA/MD/DE area that seems to be more ground and pound with FL kids helping to open things up. That said, I only stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

I thought at the time Gleeson was an excellent hire. Too bad it didn't work out. But yeah we need someone like him (established successful P5 coordinator) or the Fordham head coach would be awesome.

beaced like QBs that can throw thw ball all over the place especially if there is a pair of hands waiting at those places.
