ESPN may void the GOR if UNC and UVA goes to the SEC but would hold schools accountable if they go to the Big Ten. Are they really willing to play that dirty?
SO...if everyone leaves the ACC, where does the buyout money go? A bunch of fat guys in an office somewhere? If you are ACC commissioner, maybe this is best case scenario. Or what if only Wake Forest is left behind? Do they get all the money?ESPN may void the GOR if UNC and UVA goes to the SEC but would hold schools accountable if they go to the Big Ten. Are they really willing to play that dirty?
There was someone on Twitter posting this with a blue check mark. It was no one I ever heard of though.@Bamm Bamm Rubble pulls this stuff from his a$$. How many threads will he start they are made up
Would they really? Texas a&m, the Longhorns and Missouri are respectable AAU members. I think the SEC is quietly trying to bolster its academic profile.UNC and UVA would be horrible academic fits in the SEC. Vanderbilt should be left by their lonesome in that regard. They are much better fits in the B1G.
A blue check mark? What is Twitter some sort of higher authority that validates people in a wide variety of subject matter? Not saying you, but people give far too much credence to Twitter and their blue check marks. Some of the most unhinged, unreliable people on Twitter have blue check marks. Most of them being celebrities and athletes and politicians of all persuasions. There was someone on Twitter posting this with a blue check mark. It was no one I ever heard of though.
Somewhat agree which is why I didn't post the thread myself when I saw it a few hours ago.A blue check mark? That’s what I’m thinking, it’s the conference that owns the rights not the media companies.ESPN can’t void the GOR. It is an agreement between the conference members.
That said, I saw an interesting thread by James Kratch on how ESPN will not cede their rights to valuable ACC properties (even though they are less valuable than SEC and B1G properties ("teams/schools"), and ESPN will maneuver and rig the moves to benefit ESPN.Somewhat agree which is why I didn't post the thread myself when I saw it a few hours ago.

Here is the first tweet, which Kratch expounds upon in later tweets. That said, I saw an interesting thread by James Kratch on how ESPN will not cede their rights to valuable ACC properties (even though they are less valuable than SEC and B1G properties ("teams/schools"), and ESPN will maneuver and rig the moves to benefit ESPN.
Exactly. If there has ever been another topic on this board that people seem to understand less, yet continually opine on than what a GOR is, I have yet to see it.Once again, the GOR is a contract each school signs to cede control of their tv rights to the conference for X number of years. The conference signed a contract with ESPN where ESPN gets to broadcast those games for those years in return for payment to tte conference that is distributed to each school.
ESPN can play games, like claiming the value of the ACC rights is drastically reduced if UNC/UVA go to the B1G (helping the ACC in court and making it hard to replace them) while allowing the ACC to replace UNC/UVA with no reduction in payment if they go to the SEC. They can’t void the GOR or hold schools accountable to it, because it isn’t their agreement.
Hate to break it to you but UGA, Florida and A&M and (eventually Texas) rank as high or higher (academically) as Rutgers.UNC and UVA would be horrible academic fits in the SEC. Vanderbilt should be left by their lonesome in that regard. They are much better fits in the B1G.

Obviously the swim team is more connected than anyone. We all should know that. This is the source of it….really come on now lol.

Source: Virginia, North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson in Talks to Join SEC
A source told SwimSwam that Virginia, UNC, FSU, and Clemson are negotiating to join the SEC as ESPN attempts to void their 20-year TV deal with the ACC.swimswam.com
To be clear:
The amount of trash coming out is going to be very high.
This has always cracked me up West Point Knight. I'm very proud of my Rutgers education and degree, and I get that other fans are as well, but we frequently act like we're Princeton and everybody else is a community collegeHate to break it to you but UGA, Florida and A&M and (eventually Texas) rank as high or higher (academically) as Rutgers.
FYI and HTH…carry on.

F ESPN ..they suckESPN may void the GOR if UNC and UVA goes to the SEC but would hold schools accountable if they go to the Big Ten. Are they really willing to play that dirty?
It's funny. People in NJ think Rutgers is much worse than it is academically. And Rutgers grads act like it is much better than it is. Reality is somewhere in between. UNC and UVA are much better fits in the B1G, but at this point there are only so many golden tickets left and you take what you can get (assuming they could get out). If no B1G offer is available, they would be crazy to turn down the SEC. And it is every school for themselves right now. The idea that politics is going to hold anything up anymore is silly. Just look at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. If politics didn't stop that, it isn't going to impact Washington or Oregon or UNC while their futures are at stake just to protect little brother. Same goes for old alliances. If UNC can move and no one wants little private school Duke, so be it. Schools are acting in their own interests and that is all that matters anymore. If you can come as a package and retain old rivalries great, but that isn't the driving force anymore. Not to mention, who outside of ND has that kind of juice? The B1G and SEC control the narrative, not the remaining schools who have zero leverage. The risk of being left out is far too great. It's about self preservationThis has always cracked me up West Point Knight. I'm very proud of my Rutgers education and degree, and I get that other fans are as well, but we frequently act like we're Princeton and everybody else is a community collegeA good example was last year, when many people were absolutely dumbfounded that academics could possibly have been a factor in Myles Johnson's decision to attend grad school at UCLA. It's kind of cute actually.
Florida is AAU as well.Would they really? Texas a&m, the Longhorns and Missouri are respectable AAU members. I think the SEC is quietly trying to bolster his academic profile.
It’s not an academic conference. It’s an athletic conference.UNC and UVA would be horrible academic fits in the SEC. Vanderbilt should be left by their lonesome in that regard. They are much better fits in the B1G.
I guess a lot of people think MIssissippi and Alabama.Hate to break it to you but UGA, Florida and A&M and (eventually Texas) rank as high or higher (academically) as Rutgers.
