We basically need Ulis and Murray to score in the high teens in order to reliably beat decent teams. No one else can be relied upon. That's just the way it is.

The only way this loss is meaningful is if Ullis is getting fatigued. If he's at full strength in March I like our chances. If he's at 90%, it's a different picture altogether....

I think it's fatigue even though he or Cal will not admit it.
Why? He's played great up until today having some of his best games as of late. So, he had an off day let's hope it is out of his system now. If we get a repeat performance or two I'll be worried about his endurance.

Tyler should not have to shoot that many shots to begin with..... without him Murray does not average near 20 points a game and we are around a .500 team.

Yeah, things will be much easier when they get to that much easier 82 game NBA schedule.
A bit different. In the NBA he won't be playing every single minute and have every offensive set run through him. Even Lebron James comes out of the game in the NBA. And even when he's on the floor he doesn't have the offense run through him every time down the court. Part of the art of the NBA is knowing how to steal minutes of rest for your stars. Ulis isn't getting that right now. He is carrying us on both ends of the court every possession.

They play multiple games a week in the NBA. If 30 year old starters can do that all season long I think Tyler can handle 2 games a week.

really....not his 5-20 shooting, 0-7 from three? that didnt kill us?

No...basketball is more than missed and made shots. SMH.

You seem to have some hatred towards Ulis. Not sure why, but he didn't have great game in terms of shooting, but there's far bigger issue than bad shooting night.

You have to understand more of how basketball works instead of focusing so much on made/miss shots.

I guess Hawkins should get more of Uli's minutes. Where is that poster that wants more minutes for Hawkins?

I couldn't dog the kid that has carried this team all season even if he has another bad game at Florida, just couldn't do it. What would our record be without him?

No. He didn't. You're wrong, plain and simple. Did Ulis have a great game? No…at least not a good shooting game. However, he had 6 assists and 1 turnover. He had the same number of rebounds as Poy (3), and Ulis had more rebounds than Humphries and Skal combined.

Ulis did not kill us today. If you want to know what killed us, look at our front court. Aside from Marcus Lee it was a total mess.

He had a couple uncharacteristic errors in the A&M game as well...

I do fear he is showing signs of fatigue.

Tyler has been fantastic this season. Bad games happen and he has won more games for us than he has lost.

I like the the little guy and a great player but he hurt us today.
Not his best game and maybe his worst this year, but you should hold the front court much more responsible for this loss than anything or any one person, especially Tyler who did make some nice baskets and nice plays. Our front court, minus a decent effort, albeit not great by any means by Marcus, was as inept as any we've seen since Cal has been here. Virtually nothing from them or the bench, and with that kind of effort and skill, we were destined to lose from the very beginning.

More to the gsme than offense...is this hard for people to figure out? He still played good defense and somehow managed 6 assists when only 3 ppl besides himself scored on the team. He killed nothing. Lee, poy, and Skal having less rebounds than murray alone killed us.

Seriously, some people have zero sense.

Tyler is wearing down, it's clear. A&M game was bad for him, last night was terrible.

Hope it fixes itself or this team has no chance at anything.

Typically this time of year your not goin through hard practices trying to get better as a team but rather watching film and shooting. Cal stated they went 1.5 hr of practice so they are still practicing because of Willis being out and having to learn to play without him.
Funny how when Willis is out with injury we look the same as we did early in the season when Cal didn't play him.

When you have multiple scorers it spreads the defense out and makes the game much easier for everybody. Murray had basically 3 guys hounding him in the second half.
Ulis and Murray are takig a beating as well. Will be in some serious trouble if either one especially Murray goes down.

Tyler hada bad day but it happens. It would have been nice if he had gotten some help, any help from our bigs.

Also if willis had been healthy we would have won by 5.

Ulis is a point guard with 196 assists and just 51 turnovers on the season. He is in the Top 10 in assists in the nation. He has an almost 4:1 assists to turnover ration 2nd only to James Robinson of Pitt who has about 45 fewer assists on the season.

Ulis is not the problem and "he did not kill us yesterday". Get a clue OP

Ulis just had a bad game , shows he is human , not a machine like Cal says, but our bigs did not score enough, and Brisco missed a lot of shots..

Briscoe missed 4, Ulis missed 15. Briscoe actually shot 4/8 overall, which is really good. He just has no business shooting 3 three point shots. If Ulis shoots 20 times in a game, I have to hope he'd hit 7-8 of them at worst case. Today he just hit 5. He had an off game shooting, happens to everyone.

In a crackerjack box with unusual shooting lines. We'll be fine. Some of you fans are just, well, nevermind.

I know it's a message board & we all certainly have a right to vent, etc.

That said, with all Ulis has done for us this season, to have a headline like this posts on the board is ridiculous & embarrassing, in my opinion.

Tyler, if you're reading this, pay it no mind & keep on doing what you're doing brother. You've become one of my all time favorite Cats & I go back to about 1975.

We really need to pay attention to the game as much as individual performance. We played against a college team that had strengths and weaknesses. We are a college team with strengths and weaknesses Coach Cal put together a game plan. It relied on Ulis scoring more. His shot didn't fall. It happens. Vandy went to a gimmick defense which as long as we are a one trick pony that was going to happen. Similar game to Kansas. Willis and Poy in foul trouble. Then we are in trouble. I have watched alot of basketball in my 45 years on this planet and Poy was taken out of the game with ticky tack fouls for about the 10th time in league play. He isn't aloud to do anything. Tyler just had a bad game. The fatigue thing isn't the problem of he wouldnt have had a 6 to one turn over ratio. Tyler needs that 3rd scorer to shoot effectively. His early in the season shooting problems was tied to this as well then Willis emerged and Tyler shot better as well.

It wasn't fatigue. Fatigue effects all players, but fatigue doesn't suddenly set in at the end of February. If it was fatigue, Ulis would have looked fatigued against TAM. But a lot of people here are so glued to their Ulis NBA narratives that they can't understand he, like other players, is helped or hurt by certain matchups. Vandy is a very sound perimeter defensive team with long guards. When Vandy played us in Lexington a month ago, Riley LaChance was starting and Ulis ate him up. But now, Baldwin and Fisher-Davis are starting. LaChance only played 12 minutes yesterday. Baldwin is a tall, athletic defender and Ulis had trouble with him. This is what Ulis will encounter every day in an NBA camp. That is why size matters, even for a player as skilled and driven as Ulis. The only reason Ulis took 20 shots yesterday is because Briscoe couldn't sink a perimeter shot and Kevin Stallings was doing everything he could think of to defend Murray. This was Ulis' worst game as a Wildcat, but every player has bad games at times when the matchup is not favorable.

I do agree that there should be zero discussion or comments by the head coach during the season regarding a current player's future nba plans after the season.

Remember "noise"?
