Mario still had solid stats on that miami team, was more than serviceable. I didn't say he was great, but definitely a solid career.

I don't think anyone is hating on Ulis. I've watched the suns play literally 60 games on league pass. Ulis really isn't a NBA player. He can not defend NBA point guards, he just can't. He also doesn't have the offensive game to overcome that. I can say that and also say Tyler Ulis is the best PG Cal has had at UK for the college game. Wish he stayed all 4 years he'd have a national title with fox and monk and the boys. He went and got his 500K or whatever and that's great but him not making the league isn't a shock. Love the guy and always will but unless Booker or some other friend of his makes a stand for him like other players have done for their buddies his NBA days are very limited going forward

I don't think anyone is hating on Ulis. I've watched the suns play literally 60 games on league pass. Ulis really isn't a NBA player. He can not defend NBA point guards, he just can't. He also doesn't have the offensive game to overcome that. I can say that and also say Tyler Ulis is the best PG Cal has had at UK for the college game. Wish he stayed all 4 years he'd have a national title with fox and monk and the boys. He went and got his 500K or whatever and that's great but him not making the league isn't a shock. Love the guy and always will but unless Booker or some other friend of his makes a stand for him like other players have done for their buddies his NBA days are very limited going forward

Calling him serviceable is kind, he's definitely not more than serviceable. He averaged 9 and 4 while shooting 45% and below for most of his career.

Myself as original OP I do not believe he is a starting Point Guard, but would be a very good back up. He has a high basketball IQ and I think he could improve his shooting and defense to be respectable. He is an assist machine and I think he deserves to be in the NBA. If not I hope he goes overseas makes some money and then get into coaching as I think he would kick but in the coaching field. my wo cents.

Lotta free agent PGs floating around as I listed but keeping my fingers crossed he can wind up on a team as their 3rd PG.

He shot 34% here his sophomore year which is about the same percentage that Hami shot. I believe that's what kept him out of the 1st round. You have to be a knock down shooter at that size.

Definitely. Size isn't just a factor in the paint. Those guys are big and athletic enough to play off of him so he can't create and still contest the shot.

It basically boils down to being really, really tough to make it in the NBA, and if you're built like a 7th grader, you have to be a rare talent, a freak athlete, or both.

He can make a fortune playing overseas though.

The team he was a backup on and averaged 5 points a game outperformed Wall's team. The team he starred on went 27-9 and got bounced in the 2nd round of the tournament. There's no comparison between Wall and Ulis.

I'm not saying Ulis is better now than Wall, just that at UK it's a close call which was the better point guard. Look at the stats before you say there's no comparison. Athletically and NBA career, of course Wall is better, but for their college career, the numbers are close and Ulis actually has an edge in some categories.
To summarize, stats for Wall's 09-10 season and Ulis' '15-16 season.

It's very reasonable to state Ulis might have been the best "college" pg Cal has had at UK. He had arguably the best season as a sophomore of any pg Cal has had here. It's ok to disagree with that, but to say it's out of the question is just wrong.

When I see what the upcoming NBA Training Camp rosters look like, then I will be surprised if Ulis' name isn't on one. He's a winner. I think Phoenix was stupid to let him walk.

Ulis will be a short term fix for any team. They just won’t trust their team with his size.
But for anyone that does take him, and Charlotte should....he will instantly be a fan favorite.
So many teams aren’t going anywhere, but Ulis makes others better.

For a guy like Ulis to make it he needs to have a standout ability....excellent passer...crazy defense.....dead eye shooter...freak athleticism. Ulis just doesn't have that. He's just really good at certain aspects and that's not good enough when you're shorter than the average freshman in high school.

David Eckstein was a great example of a guy who practiced about 16 hrs a day to be able to be good enough to remain a pro.

When you're limited it comes down to work ethic. If 16 hrs in the gym isn't enough, you better go 18. If Ulis isn't spending nearly every second in the gym it probably won't be enough.
