Yeah, but part of that is playing in a rural area with little to no competition and opportunities to be evaluated. That is where summer AAU ball comes into play, and of course that was not an option last summer (after his FR year). He WILL BE a 4* after this summer.
Possibly, I just don’t understand why everyone is so obsessed with this kid. Nobody seemed too upset we didn’t get Mashburn Jr.
I really wanted Mashburn, even though I don’t think he will be as good as Sheppard. But what his dad meant to UK fans of that era, yeah I absolutely wanted him.

Did you see the recent event that Shep competed in? An event in which Shep more than held his own against elite 5 star kids that are at least a year older than him. Some of the top 5-10 players in the 2021 class.
Absolutely absurd that some UK fans are insinuating that he isn’t good enough to warrant a scholarship at UK. He’s better right now than Askew was last season IMO. Furthermore, a 3 star ranking is laughable.
Somehow, though, Cal gets a pass for not recruiting this kid. Unbelievable.

That's a crazy statement to make if your about winning. Some players aren't a good fit for your program.
You have to remember that many on here never played or played at a higher level or even have a understanding of b-ball skills. How a player can fit in on a team. Great teams are composed of players with different skills that mesh.
For many on here it all about how many stars are assigned by another person or how athletic someone is. Can’t see past it.
Bennett snuck into Indiana for shooter Kyle Guy. Looks like he wants to grab this one from Kentucky.
As a comparison. UK did “reach out”. Antigua sent a text that said, “what’s up”. Sounds more like a courtesy thing to me. I look for Cal to drop the ball on this recruitment.
The kid will probably go somewhere else and light it up for three or four years. All of us UK fans will be left wondering “what if”. You’ll still have some Cal nut huggers finding some way to defend him, though. Never fails.
I'm afraid this is much like playing Dontaie Allen last year. The more fans want it, the less Cal is inclined to give it to them.
If cal lets Reed go to virginia without even offering him. It will be the death blow for him in regards to fans supporting him.

Hell, it’s already happening here and on HOB. The Cal nut huggers/worshippers are the worst. Some people seem to think Cal made UK. UK made Cal. Simple as that.
I used to be one of the biggest Cal supporters that ever walked. After all the BS last season and the way he treated Allen and pampered BJ Boston. Let’s just say I’ve lost a lot of respect for that man.

I can relate. Those BS excuses he made up for not playing DA were ridiculous and just plain weird. I still support Cal but certainly not as fervently. I am curious to see if UK still gives Sheppard the almost cold shoulder when Cal finds out Bennett showed up personally in Shelbyville as well as Michigan’s Howard.
In the past, Coach Bennett, with the exception of foreign recruits, has not extended an offer to a prospect until he has had the opportunity to evaluate his play in person. Bennett and an assistant are doing just that today. For both of Sheppard's games. Unless he sees something he really doesn't like (very unlikely, IMO), I imagine an offer will be forthcoming. Most likely, as you suggest, it will come on his visit later this month. Coach Bennett may want to offer the scholarship with the whole family present. Make it something of a production.
They were extremely weird. Just because Allen wasn’t lighting it up in practice, he couldn’t get on the floor? Craziest **** I’ve ever heard. Nevermind that other guys couldn’t make shots in games. He also didn’t wanna take Boston’s heart away. Absolute BS excuses. Good for you for calling them for what they are/were.
Despite playing fewer minutes, Dontaie still shot higher from 3. Dontaie was a better player than BJ and cal couldn’t stand it. There’s a rumor Cal didn’t take Powell because he didn’t wanna hear fans beg him to play him.
I sincerely doubt UK is going offer reed. It’s unfortunate but I can’t see it
Does not seem like Ky has the interest in him like other schools, I think there is a good chance he will in up at the ville since they are recruiting him hard and already have offered.
Yet, the majority defends Cal on this. It’s totally absurd.
