We raised $1.3 million for Haiti. It would be kind of embarrassing if do not exceed that for our own people. It's at $150,900 as of this moment.

Agree.Issue is there are already countless number of donations setup throughout KY. A poor showing tonight doesn’t mean people don’t care, they have likely given elsewhere already as I have.

What a huge gesture by Holtmann....pretty cool
Yes, this is a wonderful gesture. Putting it into context:
Holtmann makes $3.1 million/year. The median household income in Kentucky is about $55K. So Holtmann's donation is the equivalent of the average family donating $887 to the cause.
An $887 donation from an "average" family is very generous.
Did take long. Hope your proud of yourselfHoltmann or Oats for next UK coach
Not to split hairs but since his tax bracket is 25% more than the average family the equivalency is even higher but point stands in his generosity.Yes, this is a wonderful gesture. Putting it into context:

Embarrassing for who? These guys are raising money to help people in need after a terrible event. Whatever they raise is a Godsend for the needy, not a comparison to something else to make the program look bad. Anybody who thinks there is any reason to embarrassed about whatever is raised has there head in the wrong place. We raised $1.3 million for Haiti. They're 2 different events separated by a decade. It's not an either/or deal. The fact that our program raises money to help people in need is awesome. Not something to compare and be embarrassed about if one event raises more or less than another was my point. This isn't political. I hate politics. It's helping people who need it. You think we shouldn't have had the telethon for Haiti? Is that really what you're saying? I hope not.Id rather that money go to my friends, family, and even people I don’t know in Kentucky. I hope the best for people from other countries, but we send crazy amounts of money there to begin with. It’s the American people we need to be concerned the most with. I don’t know why this is controversial. Every other nation worries about their own first, we’re being brainwashed into making our nation worse off.

I am just saying that Holtmann is like cal in that he is a charitable guy,Not now Richie
I’m trying to figure out who you were before. Any hints?Wheeler answered the phone for me the first time. I only gave $100 because he can’t shoot and turns ball over too much. When CJ answered the phone I gave $1,000. Thank God Coach Cal didn’t answer.
Victims are in my prayers.
UK has that guy nowyeah me saying he is a charitable guy who has all the qualities of a guy we would want at UK is bad. Stop quoting me, Richard.
This is CatsIllustrated, it’s not CatInCanuckLand. What difference does it make? Our team is 7-2. Oscar is playing very good. This is not a one-man forum. And that’s really a bad question!I’m trying to figure out who you were before. Any hints?
Been pondering that also.I’m trying to figure out who you were before. Any hints?

Damn!! Do some of you have to find negative out of everything posted. I’ll send my money and prayers and I’ll pray for all of us that seem to need conflict instead of just handing together for our Kentuckians in need. I apologize for my out burst but man there are times that demand love and cohesion.Id rather that money go to my friends, family, and even people I don’t know in Kentucky. That is very generous. This is really great to see. These people have lost so much. God bless all involved.Jim Beam just donated $1 million. With the match that puts the total raised to over $3.5 million so far!!!
