I don't know if I could take a SECT win. I have a heart condition and my doctor has already warned me several times this season about watching games that upset me. I told him that I wouldn't be watching any games with my Cats if I did that. I'll admit I have had to turn off some of the games and then rely on you guys and gals for the post game analysis and comments.

Go Big Blue!

Guard play is everything. We simply do not have it this year.

I would argue that Mintz is a good guard any year. Askew is young but Mintz offersets his deficiencies a lot....now.

Keys to this team:

1. Mintz continuing to play well & Askew just be average.

2. Jackson continuing to excel

3. Consitency out of Sarr

4. Consistency out of Boston. He has shown glimpses. His defense has improved immensely. Just need greater consistency offensively.

5. Keion & Toppin just need to keep doing what they do.

First, let me say I honestly think UK will win the SEC Tournament. That's right...I do. But if you don't agree that's OK, but hypothetical say they do. How far do you think this team could go if they keep improving & win the SEC?
We won't know until they play the sec tournament, I think the talent is there but winning two games in row against vandy and tenn is not enough for me just yet.

What about winning three in a row over Auburn, at Vandy and at UweeT by 15 biguns or naw?

I love Mintz effort and hope returns. the reality is hes a backup PG and is being asked to do more than he can. Not dogging him, thats just the truth. He reminds me of Julius Mays I t hat regard. Frankly I like these kinds guys more attitude wise because they stay hungry, as opposed to the coddled OADs. Several of which we have the poster child of on this roster.

If UK runs the Gators off the Rupp floor Sat to win their 4th straight game there will be little question that we are a threat to be taken seriously, not only to win the SECT but to do major damage in the NCAAs.

Really Auburn just got their doors blown off by Florida, lets just pump the brakes and let them play a few more games, I wish they could have played A&M hope the layoff doesn't hurt.

I sure hope this late season run doesn't come as a surprise to most of you as Cal’s teams do it just about every yr at UK.

I tried to preach SOS, close Ls, the mass exodus that resulted in 3 transfers playing significant roles, key long term injuries to Brooks and Clarke plus all the Freshman but you guys would rather kick me in the nutz than agree with me.

Florida is in big trouble Sat afternoon.

I could see me dying in the future if I’m in this same position. I couldn’t turn off a postseason game and I would probably bite the big one after a close win/loss.

If we can't win the SECT, what is the point? If we DO win the SECT, we are a dangerous team in the NCAAT and no one will want to see us in their bracket. We have had some hard times, bad luck, growing pains, stupidity, immaturity, and improvement. Our guys have talent, athleticism, size, exert effort, play defense and make free throws! Yes, we have a big problem at the guard position, but we have a lot of positives. This could be painful OR it could be fun. Fasten your seat belts...

4 games will haunt all offseason if Kentucky can't pull off the miracle SEC tournament run to the championship.

64-63 Notre Dame
62-59 @Louisville
63-62 @Georgia
81-80 Arkansas

There are other frustrating games as well like being up late on Kansas and at Alabama and not being able to pull them out but those 4 games are the difference. Basically all 1 point losses. The Louisville game was 3 points but we had a shot go in and out in the final seconds before fouling them to end the game.

Notre Dame if we shoot the ball like 1 second sooner the tip in at the buzzer wins the game.
Louisville the 15 footer goes halfway down and comes back out
Georgia Askew at the line for a 1 and 1 up 1 and missed the front end then we give up the game winning layup at the buzzer.
Arkansas up 1 and foul them with 4 seconds left on a questionable call they hit both FT's and we throw the ball away on a chance to hit the winner.

A 12-9 Kentucky team would be on the bubble right now we would have
5 quad 1 wins
5 quad 2 wins

Tbh, most teams get better throughout the season and the better programs are usually at full stride by tournament time. Good examples are UConn 2011, UConn 2014, Nova 2016, Nova 2017 and UVA 2018.

But we're 8-13 and are in a position where we have to win the SECT to get in and while this team is getting better, the damage is done and you aren't telling anyone anything they don't already know. The SOS bit you have been blasting for weeks, only holds water if we have enough wins, so stop patting yourself on the back.

As far as Florida, we damn well should run them off the floor, we have NBA talent, we have the size advantage and we have home court advantage. Not only that, but we're a team playing desperate right now.

Florida at home is one thing, Ole Miss next weekend and the SECT, are another thing. Ole Miss is really hot right now and are fully capable of busting our run.

But I'll say this, UK Brass needs to find a way to fit games in. We get no mid week game this week and that's a mistake. If UK wins up until the SECT finals, then loses in the finals, we could end up 13-14, when we could have been 15-14. Doesn't sound like much, but a 15-14 record with our SOS, could have gotten us in. You never know.

Totally agree Jeff. I was pizzed Cal didnt add one this week but lets look at it like this:

I think Florida poses more of a problem for UK because they have an offense, Ole Miss does not.

I dont think Cal is as worried about Ole Miss for 3 reasons: No revenge factor, next to no fans in Oxford and Ole Miss ranks #111 in offensive efficiency per Kenpom.

Cal wanted this entire week to prepare for Florida and beat them. If UK wins Sat. it was the right decision and extends are win streak to a season high 4 games. If we lose its an epic fail (for the record I believe we win).

I personally believe this rematch with a good UF team will be our toughest test until our 2nd Rd (hopefully) SECT game.

So Im saying UF will pose more of a problem that at Ole Miss, the 2 make up games hopefully AM and S. Carolina and our 1st rd matchup of the SECT.

I think Cal made the right decision.

Florida is played well the other night. No gimme for sure. And Ole Miss is probably playing better than any other team in the SEC right now. Two tough games. And you are right, they better add two games. A&M will probably not be made up- I don’t know what the hell is going on in College Station. They better play USC and add a non conference game. The absolute best news is UK controls it’s destiny to the NCAA tournament. And it isn’t an impossible task.

SEC tournament seeding is somewhat irrelevant for UK this year because we have to win out. Whether we play Bama in the 2nd round or the championship, there's a good possibility we will have to beat them.
Maybe things work in our favor but I'd just as well beat that *** and have it help our cause.

Are they extending the regular season? Seems like some teams are making up games at the end of their season, but I guess that’s because they dont have a conference tournament. (Big 10).

They should have found a way to get a game going today or yesterday. By not doing it, it tells me they're putting all their eggs in one basket. UNC is playing Marquette right now, scheduled it 4 days ago. The SEC probably won't allow that, but there were options.

One game that definitely has me worried is ole Miss, that is a really good team right now and they always get up for UK. They want to get into the NCAAT too.

That 111th ranking for Ole Miss is not accurate based on how they are playing right now. Same with our offensive numbers. We are much better offensively than our overall number shows.

Trust me, Cal isn't so worried about Florida that he needed a week to prepare. He said his team was "exhausted". That was his reasoning, but this is crunch time and this team needs every game and win they can get.

Seeding does matter if your goal is to win it. You would much rather go through UGA/LSU/Arkansas/Bama, then to go through UT/Florida/Ole Miss/Bama right?

Your opinion, like mine is worth about a penny. Auburn is a 500 team at best they way this season is going to play out for them.
Without Cooper, UK would have blown the doors off Auburn both games.
He's an NBA level pg, highly skilled and has a high bb iq, without him, they can't get into any type of offense. They aren't a very good team either way, but with Cooper, they are a couple notches better.
