I can't believe you are back for more. You just don't give up even though you are not much of a challenge. Don't share this but I am going to see if ignoring you will encourage you to do something productive like punching yourself in the face.

Clown as always....

Many of us laughed about UNC hiring Davis; however, they might be having the last laugh. If Duke's replacement demonstrates that he can handle the job, we will really be in danger of falling behind the other blue bloods.
I will say he has turned around their season but they are on a heater. It’s to be seen if he’s actually great or is Kevin Ollie. If it’s the latter then this run may hurt them a bit because it will buy him a couple more years.

Wasn't saying that about Cronin/UK--talking of how Hubert was fortunate to get by a superior team in UCLA whose HC made that a loss. Wrote it awkwardly but the point was those who just assume Davis is going to be outstanding..let's see how it ends up. Kevin Ollie won a title too...he couldn't get a job anywhere right now.
Mike Davis of Indiana made the final game his first year too.

if we are going to throw players out that have zero experience rn the only one that should be mentioned is Rondo.

everyone that’s ever played w Rondo calls him a basketball genius and the smartest guy on the floor. Been successful at the highest level. Likely HOFer. Multiple titles

Ulis was great here and had a ton of heart but nobody has ever glowed over him being a basketball savant.
I believe you must be a college graduate to be a coach. I can be wrong about, of course.

Frank Vogel, former manager and videographer at UK from 1995-98. He was one of Bill Keightley's, so he definitely knows about the tradition of UK Basketball and he was here during one of our most successful periods.

There is a report out tonight that the Lakers have an interest in bringing Cal into LA to replace Vogel. Heck, I would make that trade RIGHT NOW!!!

This growing debacle created by CCC is all the evidence required that UK needs a homegrown coach to get us out of this mess. Unfortunately, this isn't likely to happen because UK doesn't develop former players into coaches. We need a head coach who loves the program as much as the fans so that the program regains the top priority instead of CCC and the players. It is clear that Cal has made UK third to him being first and players second. There is zero reason to believe that this will ever change because Cal has never considered the program and fans as his top priority. Unfortunately, there is a zero chance of a former player becoming the coach at this point.

And that’s a decent thought! He has been really successful and has only one losing season and that was in his very 1st year of coaching and after that his teams have been very consistent. At BYU he has went 24-8, 20-7 and 24-11. He would’ve had made the dance in 2020 with that 24-8 team. He made it in 2021 but then took a step back went to NIT this year. So he probably the most successful in terms of former UK players at the moment.

I think if you was gonna hire any past UK players that he should be considered but at the same time I do think Mark Pope is probably too nice of a guy to take a job like UK and when things aren’t going well I don’t know how well he could deal with crazy fans and expectations and pressures. I think he is probably gonna be more successful at a place like BYU. I know he loves Kentucky though and I doubt he would wanna risk all that love he has by taking a job like UK.

I may be wrong and a lot of ppl will probably disagree with what I saying and that’s ok, but that’s just my take on Mark Pope. I thought the same thought a lot of times over past 2years. I’d be all for that hire even though I think it probably wouldn’t be that smart of a hire. It’s not a home run hire I guess is what I’m saying.

And Dwayne Casey is not ever gonna be the coach at UK. No chance. Even though the NCAA lifted that ban or show clause that he had on him they still wouldn’t hire him because that would bring so much negative media exposure to UK. It’s ******** that Casey had to go thru these things if he was indeed innocent, and it’s ******** that he could never be considered to work at UK again just because ppl worry too much about how it makes the program look. That’s just the way it is though.

Zero reasons to hire anyone because of where they were born. Good lord.
I respectfully disagree with you on this. I mean not in all cases should it be considered like I’m gonna just go out hire a Ky guy because he was born Ky but if that KY born native is as qualified or has had success or close to it as a guy from let’s say Florida then I think that SOB from Kentucky should get the job at his home state school. He would probably have his heart more into it to be successful just because that’s where he was born and raised and also would want to win and take it more serious because he understands what it means to the ppl of the Commonwealth.

Now though if he not as qualified or it’s questionable then give me the other guy who has had the success and a proven winner.

We want a genuine Coach, we actually got a genuine NBA scout who just happens to dabble in Collegiate Coaching.

This is what I'm believing.

Prove me wrong please.

For me it’s like people who clamor for home grown players. I don’t care where they are from if they can play. I also don’t care where the coach is from if they win. If they all come from the moon but get the job done, then I’m good with it.
There’s also no data that shows if someone is from here then they will take it any more seriously than if they are not from here.

Hands down, the most woke, cancel culture, defeatist, moronicly applied logic phrase used on here, by the people I just described is…

“He ain’t leaving _______ to coach at UK!” LOL LOL

You mofo’s are pathetic losers! UK has $9 million reasons why you clowns are horribly clueless! This isn’t IU, UL, UNC, or even Duke we’re talking about! UK’s coaching position is the #1 job in all of CBB!

Only a stooge would turn down the opportunity.

How about Travis Ford. He has been very competitive everywhere he has been. With UK resources he would not loose a 1st round NCAAT game, but I think he would win it all within 5 yrs. You don't get much more home grown that Travis Ford.

For those clowning on the thought of this, i mean it’s basically what Carolina and Duke have done, Duke especially. And they seem to be in pretty good spots. Both staffs full of former players. Let’s go ahead and just get a dream staff of pope/ford/pelphrey/and rondo as a recruiter. Maybe one guy couldn’t do it alone, but together? Who says no?

Coach K and Williams loved their universities enough to groom their replacements well ahead of their departures. What is CCC doing besides turning it into a joke? When CCC leaves, we will be in worse shape than when Sutton left. To make it worse, there won't be an RP type coach in waiting to keep things together until the talent level can be rebuilt.
k and williams kind of had to in order to keep the dirt hidden!

That's not true.

Ford has ONE NCAA Tournament win his entire career and that was back in 2009.

He was innocent. If he wasn’t innocent he wouldn’t have gotten the multi million dollar settlement from Emery. He took the bullet. He would be great and he’d turn it around quickly. He’d have 1,000 % support of the former players and others

Yeah I mean I wouldn’t be against it personally and I think he would do fine. I wasn’t trying to be negative. I just thinking that he probably wouldn’t never get hired at UK just for the simple fact he was still tied to the whole Kentucky shame mess. I know he won a settlement and all that. I know he took the bullet as you say but sometimes them bullets can do alot of damage even if it’s unfortunate.

Don't disagree with you...all I know is that a lot of former players who played under other coaches are done with Cal and Shidler's comments yesterday about the program is about winning championships is very reflective of the vast majority sentiment if not 100%...Dwane would be a great person to bring back everybody to the fold.

He has been okay. Solid but certainly not spectacular.
Not on an elite trajectory anymore at all which is why he hot pushed out of Oklahoma State and down to St Louis.

It isn't over for him, the Bilikens are doing fair but not good.
If he wasn't a native and a former player I don't think he would come into the discussion.

Folks are just grasping at every familiar straw they see.
I think UK can push a coach from a Final Four level to a Championship but NIT to Champs is really beyond reasonable to me. He has one NCAA win.

Kentucky is a major advantage but not magic.

I’d rather have Brad Calipari than Travis ford. This entire thread is just too much. Are you people seriously this out of touch?

I understand players and fans both are tired of him . I’m tired of him too. I’m probably not hating on Cal as bad as the rest of the fan base is but I’d be ok if he step down.

The college game has gone to hell altogether in my opinion with the portal and one and done and guys coming and going constantly. A lot has changed. I’d like to see somebody come here that has some connections to the program and cares more about winning games and a we need new energy anyway. If a dude like DCasey would even come back I’d be for it.

He has a career losing record. You’d have Kentucky hire a guy with a losing record? When did we lose our freakin minds?
I think that person was being sarcastic. I’m not sure he was but I hope so. I replied to it too but I was being sarcastic about it.
