25+ years ago I used to lift at a place called Nautilus Plus on Collinsferry Road @ the bottom of the hill (Evansdale Campus) in Morgantown. Teddy lifted there. He was huge in the upper body. He could press 400 and was just a thick strong beast..

Teddys legs were total toothpicks though. No leg work ever. It looked freakish and strange. The physique was a good reason to work lower body too.

I seriously doubt someone would be kept 34 years as a ref if he were inept. "A clown," maybe, if you go by his antics. But he must have making most of his calls right or he never would have lasted 34 years. And that crack about West Virginia native and clown is typical down-your-nose attitude that outsiders have about my native state's residents. Stereotypical and ignorant, of course. But typical.

But we have bigger fish to fry: Lassoing the Longhorns!

Slow down a step. TV Teddy is indeed a clown. I simply didn't know he was from WV. There's clown shows in every state. If you took my post as stereotyping, as well as being ignorant, then you took it the wrong way. I'm from WV as well, and I even have most of my teeth, and often can be seen wearing shoes a few times throughout the week.

He was a clown and too often made the game about himself.

I don't think the OP was in anyway, forming an opinion because he was from WV. Doubt that he was using him as a representation of WV either. That's not a fair statement when you consider VMF/Pride is also from WV.

In the early 90s I saw Teddy at the gym 4-5 times a week and his upper body looked like that of a bodybuilder. He was as strong upper body as many of the former WVU Oline man who lifted there. At the same time, I have seen more mass on the legs of an old persons walker than that on his legs. His physique was definitely clownish looking.

He also drove a blue ford ranger extended cab with a step side bed that was clownish looking.

He was a nice guy though

That's damn near any gym these days. Guy goes to my gym and looks like Johnny Bravo.
