What little video I looked at today shows good sized o-line, looks like read option one RB spread style offense, pass d not real good, which doesn't help us much.

They have pretty good teams from time to time. This isn't one of their better ones. I wouldn't dismiss them though.

Hopefully our mountaineers are ready for a playoff run after an off week. Anyone know if we get any injured players back this week, I know we had a few out for the franklin game.

I heard Tuscola had put in a five wide empty backfield shotgun package for the playoffs. Any truth to the rumors?

Well anything is possible, but I dont see the need to abandon an offense that has generated 50+ points per game on average. I dont speak for THS coaches but I would bet things are gonna be done the same way they have been over at THS..

Well you know what they say. If it ain't broke don't fix it. They may be working on it for just in case they get in a come from behind situation .
I'm sure about evert team on the west side has worked on a few new wrinkles. They've had two weeks to do so.

I agree, hammering them to they quit or make a mistake. No mental mistakes and lack of turnovers will win this game.

figured it would be close and no sour grapes here but that was the worst officiating crew i have witnessed in the 34 years i have been watching football !!!!! this crew absolutely lost control and it was quite evident they were just worried about getting to their car as quickly as possible.whoever is over the refs should review these clowns and suspend them or at least take away their game check. well enough about that on to belmont hope the mountaineers show up.

You know, I hate to come on here and act like I am from Canton, where it is always the officials fault, but you are 100% correct about the officiating. In 40 plus years of watching sports I can honestly say without a doubt that was the worst officiated sporting event I have ever seen. That crew shouldn't call a youth league game. The State should be embarassed that they sent those clowns out to officiate a game. I went to the Robbinsville - Pisgah game a few years back and this was twice as worse, and I didn't think that was possible. Personal fouls, targeting, facemask (at least 3), 9 illegal motions I counted, numerous picked up flags on flagrant fouls. Were those soccer officials out there? Tuscola better play better next week or SP can bring the JV team in before halftime.

Absolutely agree, the refs were absolutely pathetic, just hope you don't get that crew next week. They nearly altered the outcome of the game in Anson's favor. That being said Anson was so big up front that we had trouble getting any push offensively or defensively, and the tackling was not up to par tonight. We were extremely lucky to overcome the poor officials and get the win. Sheesh!!!

At Hibriten game McMichael kid dropped a td pass and hung his head then the ref signaled TD. Pretty pitiful and it is a statewide issue.

What I saw at Tuscola was an Anson team that was just huge, physical and above all, very athletic. Weren't no "Billy Bobs" on that roster to be sure. It took a half, but they adjusted well to that long drive and what Tuscola was throwing at them. While their offense was never really in sync, they had enough athleticism to keep it close in the end. There were some officiating calls that had us scratching our heads. The phantom fumble early in the 3rd qtr was a puzzle. That cost Tuscola a TD that would have made the lead 30-6, but it sure gave Anson new life. On the other hand Anson had some strange calls go against them as well, and ever so many costly penalties. Bottom line, while Anson may have had the better athletes at nearly every position, athletic ability alone doesn't always win.

Funny, you whiny mountaineers were crying foul about the refs after our rivalry game too. You beotch as much as anyone if you think your befuddled Mounties have been wronged.

After Turner's pick, Anson got nervous and switched to a run game that was quite successful. Tuscola did ok offensively. Too many occasional trips to the well with Ferguson and Turner and Jenkins are not successful inside without some misdirection. Anson RB #25 was very successful, not sure why they are thought passing was the way to go.

The questionable fumble was a strip where the runner was stopped and nobody blew a whistle. The defensive block in the back call was on Jenkins but it sure like the flags were spotted where Monday got blocked.

I still haven't figured out the offensive pass interference on Napert. It didn't look like either he or the DB made contact with each other

That officiating crew was probably the worst I have seen in 25+ years, I honestly felt sorry for both teams.

This was on their last TD run. The entire stadium thought the flag was for an obvious block in the back.

The uncalled facemask, ref less than 10 feet away and staring at it, that would have all but ended the game, uncalled. The umpire rushing to the LJ to make him pick up his flag on an OBVIOUS hold on your TD... yeah, why would we think the refs cheated for you... again.

Thanks for validating what I said in my earlier post. THS had a 17 point lead at halftime, 54 total yards in the 2nd half, 1 first down and only 3 points in the 2nd half. Yeah, keep on whining about the refs if it makes you feel better.

Diana got a great photo of it. Of course in the Bar Den, it's nothing. Maybe they need another trip to Robbinsville. Never heard the like of piss and moan in my life as that road trip.

I see some are still replaying the Ths PHS game. IN THE PLAYOFFS. That was in fact, "just another game." This is something different. I would advise both teams to concentrate on the game coming up, 2nd round NCHSAA playoffs, or be content to play basketball starting next Monday. As for a rematch of that regular season game: The chances of both teams losing next Friday are better than both winning. Think about that.

Ran into a gentleman in an Anson hoodie and hat this morning at the Sunoco in Dellwood. He spent the night somewhere, Maggie I guess. We talked for a bit. Nice guy. He was very complimentary of Ferg. He said Anson #7 did not play as well as capable. I told him that from what I saw of #25, they were pretty well off with him. Had they went to him more, and less of that deep, sideline, out of bounds passing, things could have been vastly different last night. The middle screens worked pretty well for them too.

I talked to several of their fans last night. What nice people. Very familiar with Anson County and we knew some of the same people down there. Saw a guy at the concession stand and he was buying a cup of coffee. I bought it for him and thanked him for driving 4 hours to the game. That was a good crowd for them to be driving that far. What stud athletes they had. Looked like a D1 college team out there.

If Tuscola had won the "just another game" they would currently be awaiting a home playoff game with a team that they already put 68 on this season. Instead, they will take a three hour bus ride into the unknown. I don't know about you Mule, but I'd rather make them come to me. Especially with them knowing that earlier in the season they got hit by a locomotive with a T on the side of it when they came to Waynesville. But alas, it was just another game. It didn't have any playoff implications, home field advantage implications, outright title implications, undefeated season implications, etc, etc. Nope. Just another game.

If Tuscola had won the "just another game" they would currently be awaiting a home playoff game with a team that they already put 68 on this season. IF a bullfrog had wings, right? IF THS did this, PHS did that, and the moon and the stars aligned just this way or that. Because of that one game, Hindsight is always 20/20. Next week''s game is not with Pisgah. It is against South Point. Pisgah's is with Patton. A loss in the next game will end the season for Tuscola AND OR PISGAH while we keep replaying a game of weeks ago. When taken in that context, which game is "just another game," and more or less important at this stage?

Just trying to make the point that every fan base pisses and moans about referees at some point. Rulz singled us out in an earlier post. No one fan base holds the exclusive rights.

Must have been that Robbinsville crew that worked your Anson game, blue. Sounds like the calls were similar in both games:)

As for photographs, Bill has a great photo showing that the overtime td call was correct, as the ball was over the goal line before the knee touched the ground. That was the referee complaint that I heard the most from THS fans after the game.

Never argued that call. Only thing I saw wrong was the ref wasn't on the goal line like he should have been. IMO, all the ball had to do was nick the edge of the goal line and it probably did. Pisgah would have scored on one of he next two downs anyway at that distance.

I had Pisgah fans looking for the address and telephone number for the NCHSAA after the trip to Big Oaks so no, it wasn't quite to that level.

I guess I am pointing out that you're no different than us and we are no different than you. We lose a game we should have won and you lost a game you should have won. This can go on forever.

Both teams and fan bases better button down and worry about Round 2. We have our job cut out for us and Patton will be no push over for you.

THS and Pisgah have a year to kick the results of your 2016 malay around but you better look ahead. I tried to warn a few Cougar fans how good Hickory Ridge was before Friday's game and they blew me off. I knew both teams.
I will say this to Pisgah. Patton is for real. That doesn't suggest they are Hickory Ridge either. The game is Pisgah's to win but it should be no cakewalk.
As for Tuscola....SP will have a huge struggle with you. Don't see any weaknesses on this Mountaineer team. SP will come prepared with the best they have to defend their legacy.
This game will likely be 3A's best match this Friday night.

We Haywood County fans multi-task. We can discuss the future, while complaining /bragging about the past, all in the same sentence. :D
