I know we absolutely don’t belong in the CFP but I think we would EASILY pound both of those teams. Meanwhile we will be playing either Tennessee or Vanderbilt, both of whom would also annihilate these two teams, but have no chance of getting in either. Something is broken to be sure

Iowa lost to Oregon by 2 on a last-second FG, to USC by five after, maybe, being a fraction of an inch from being first and goal in the last two minutes, to ISU by a last-second 54-yard FG after a flukey pass deflection, and to the #1 team in the nation 20-15 after being tied at 13 and missing a FG in the last two minutes. I would submit that Iowa has a better resume for the CFP than Alabama, to name one. If a three-loss Alabama is being considered, why not a 4-loss Iowa with its four losses coming as they did. Iowa is a handful of plays from being undefeated. Alabama? Not . . . so . . . much.

Appears they will both be in the CFP. This G5 non-sense needs to stop unless they're undefeated and it's clear they deserve a shot. James Madison lost to Louisville and Tulane got blown out by UT-San Antonio and Ole Miss.
Tulane could very well get another chancre get get blasted by Ole Miss. With JMU and Tulane both getting in, we're going to get two pretty good first round matchups and two absolute blowouts.

Bama also beat Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee.
Iowa's best win was 7-5 Nebraska
And Bama shouldn't be in the CFP

Iowa gave Indiana a tougher game than Ohio State did. 🫢

The system is flawed. It was flawed back when we only had the top 4 teams compete as well. That said, I like having 12 teams get a shot vs only 4.

There are certainly valid arguments for what the criteria should be for who gets in. Perhaps "quality losses" and SOS should have greater weight?

No matter what, you have to draw the line somewhere and that means some teams are going to miss the cut and us fans get to voice our opinions about it. It's sports!

It should be a 24-team field, which has been proposed by the BIG but opposed by the SEC. A 24-team field would put FBS in line with every other level of college football, from D III on up, on the percentage of teams who make the playoffs. No "deserving" team would be left out of a 24-team field, although there would still be some controversy, it would be minimal and indefensible. Not so much with a 12-team field. And if Alabama is included, I hope whoever they play blows them away.

Iowa lost 4. Enough with the "we were close" stuff.

I guarantee you that the SEC, the B1G and ESPN are not happy about this. I am guessing they all were very confident that no more than ONE Group of 5 would ever make the 12 team field.

oooops....

Tulane knocked off #10 USC in the cotton bowl 2 years ago. They play Ole Miss after the Kiffin drama, which is probably the best matchup they could have hoped for. I actually wouldn’t be that shocked if they pulled it off.

JMU is not up to snuff though.

I’m glad JMU got in. Strong record of success in spite of getting poached by that scoundrel Cignetti. They could pull off an upset. **** Notre Dame.

I'm good with 1 getting in. The only reason 2 are in is because there was a power 5 when the rules were written. That would be redone in any updated playoff rules.

That said, even when there were 2, we rarely had more than 1 other team truly deserving of a championship shot. This year we probably have 4 legitimately. So given that there are 10 power 4 teams, really if we're debating between 10 and 11...so be it.

Go Dukes, Go Wave. Prove you belong. OR it's basically like 6 teams got byes...I'm fine with it either way.
