I agree.
Turner- outstanding college point guard
Epps- excellent backup point guard
Sheppard- one of the best shooting guards in college that year
Padgett- played in NBA
Nazr- played in NBA
Magloire- played in NBA
Evans- one of the best 6th men in nation that year
Edwards- solid forward reserve
Mills- very good shooter off the bench
That's a very deep roster of interchangeable players. Tubby could go small and have the advantage. He could go big and have the advantage. He had outstanding shooters. He had outstanding big men. His 3s and 4s could hit the 3. His point guards weren't beat off the dribble. After 1996 and 2015, you could argue that team was the deepest, most athletic team in the past 50 years at UK. I don't include 2012 because that team basically played 6 players.

Peps graduated in 1997. 1998's back up PG was Saul.

Tubby has been gone for about ten years, thank God, and he is still dividing our fan base. Putting his name in Rupp' rafters would be a disaster because it would further divide us. Tubby is not a Kentucky Wildcat and as hard as some fans try to make him one. he never will be. If he needs his jersey hung let High Point do it or maybe Tulsa, Minnesota, Texas Tech or Memphis. Keep him out of Rupp. We made one mistake putting Rick up there and that should be a lesson.

I don't want either one of them in Rupps Rafters. So call me crazy, crazy, crazy. Or better yet call me anything your little heart desires. Neither one of them are Wildcats

This Keyser clown is obsessed with defending Ten Loss and his pants catch on fire when anybody disagrees with
his continuous absurd posts

I think you are mistaken.

Thanks for bumping the thread, Cindog. I just looked at Memphis schedule. Somehow I missed the loss to UConn on Thursday. Tubby trying hard to finish with another non-winning conference season. What is this? A shot at 10 straight???[roll]

Tubby was a good coach but you ain't got a clue WHO could have won a NC with that team.

I may or may not have a "clue" as you put it, but I certainly have an opinion to which I am entitled. Pls note my use of "IMHO" in my post.

Perhaps it would be appropriate for you to add "IMHO" to some of your posts rather than implying they are a statements of fact. :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

He DID donate a million dollars towards their new arena. The basketball court will be named after Tubby.

I still can't get passed people thinking the roster was bare when Rick left. LMAO.

Bare? What in Gods name has given anyone the impression that Tubby f'n Smith could coach up a team of scrubs to a damn national title? Cal has had elite pros and won ONE. you don't just up and take garbage and win titles. It doesn't work that way. That's why between UK, UCLA, UNC, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Uconn alone you've got FORTY national titles in what? 70 years???

That team had PROS. It also had veteran STUDS like Sheppard leading the team.

If you think a man that has been to 8 final fours and won 2 national titles couldn't win a title with his own recruits but TUBBY can, you've got an agenda and borderline delusion. Anyone that willfully ignorant needs to seriously think about what they're saying. Explain this position, and don't give me the BS that Pitino started "I couldn't have done it." Come with something other than that crap.

Tubby Smith, again, hasn't had a winning conference record since he left KENTUCKY. Tubby can go up in the rafters and help the UK legacy. 5 coaches to win a title. I'll even shut up about his shortcomings if the rubber tubber pumpers stop pretending he did Moses work in 1998.

Yeah, the Tubster won a Title with Pitino's team. Hasn't been back to the Final 4 since. He couldn't get it done with Rondo or Prince or Bogans or Sparks and on and on and on. He was somewhere between a decent and good Coach..but he was not great, turned into a terrible recruiter his last 2 or 3 years at UK and everywhere he's been since he left. You want a Sweet 16 or Elite 8, Tubby was your man. As bad as I hate BCG and think he sucked horribly as a Coach here, he really did come in with the cupboard bare..he had Meeks and Patterson..that's about it in terms of NBA talent..Meeks injured a lot his first year and Patterson injured at the end of the year. But BCG was still a joke..I'm just saying he had more of an excuse than Tubby did after 1998 and Tubby, by no means, came in with the cupboard bare. Lmao..WOW.
