Give Tubby time to get his players to Memphis.
Tubbys been busted since the day Keith Bogans left UK.
There's two more waiting in the wings and I've read the one who is a junior now is more highly regarded than his older brothers.
Memphis has a lot of talent in the city. The problem is (and what doomed Pastner) is all the distractions.
I think Memphis is still on the bubble but they have a tough road ahead. Their only easy win would come by playing Tulane at home. They play at UConn (7-5), at Cinci (11-0), at SMU (11-1) and Houston (9-4) at home.
Pastner got Memphis in with 6 conference losses back in 2014 but the conference was a bit stronger then. Should be an interesting last few weeks for bubble teams.
Our talent in this city is fools gold. Rarely do they turn out what their ranking shows. And Tubby is going to have trouble landing them anyway. Memphis has some of the worst handlers in the country. He wouldn't even deal with AAU at UK but now he's gonna deal with Memphis sewer rats? Man I doubt it. Memphis handlers want things, nearly every time. Even the parents here are awful for the most part. I was a coach at R. Egypt for 8 years. Good luck Tubby you're going to need it.

At the rate he's traveling down the career ladder he should be the High Point coach by 2019.
I don't either. They would have to win almost all of their remaining games to make it in, IMO. I don't think the NCAA is going to take more than 3 AAC teams.

Im not quite as obsessed with Tubby as you guys are since I dont hate the man. I'm nit about to breakdown Memphis' chances at the NCAA tournament because its nit interesting at all to me. My point is, saying any teams bubble busted on Feb 12 is stupid.

Because it bothers you and instead of just saying it you were passive aggressive about it. Why would he get a head coaching job at a school like Memphis with no head coaching experience or a reputation as an elite assistant? You're smarter than that.
Memphis will be set back 10 years whenever they have to fire him. Ask Rick Pitino.
As a UK fan, I hate to break balls like this, but he gets paid because he has the same number of titles as CAL. I know, they weren't his players, blah, blah, blah. Rick didn't win with a much better team the year before. The guy can coach. Maybe he can't recruit against the top 5, but he can coach. Plus, he is a great guy, and there are only so many of them in the game.
Alotta bitterness in this thread. Tubby's jersey will be in the rafters one day and he won a championship here. Yes he was ultimately not a good recruiter and couldn't land enough talent to keep UK in the hunt every year but BCG set us back further than anything Tubby did. Let it go
Cal has been here 7 years. And also has four final fours. Smith had one title and didn't get back to the final four again from 1999 to 2007. Part of that was playing his son Saul to the detriment of the program, who was a Morehead State level player. He isn't in the same league as Cal. As far as coaching, he did nothing at Minnesota and Texas Tech, taking their millions. Now he is doing the same thing at Memphis. And the way he left UK, didn't say anything to the players, was lame and a cop out. Then he didn't show his face at Bill Keightley's funeral. So you can love you some Tubby, I'm just glad he is another program's dead weight.
