He may indeed win.......and still only needs 270 EV's to do it......but I don't know how he "smokes" Hillary assuming her current support (women and minorities, especially blacks and Latinos) holds together and actually votes. Meanwhile, while I appreciate his speech last night fired-up his current constituency (pissed-off older white men) I myself don't know yet to what extent his message crosses over. But if Trump did nothing else, he probably convinced close to 100% of that current support to actually go to the polls and vote rather than sit out this election.
But whether or not you're interested in what she has to say (and I know you will be) Hillary does get the last word next week......which, after recent conventions, seems to make a difference. Maybe that won't be the case this year.
Just curious how many "lockstep liberals" you've "talked to" since Trump walked off the dais 12 hours ago. For the record, I live in the blood reddest area of the State of Ohio....an area which should be waving Trump flags and doing back flips this morning......and I haven't spoken with a single individual who liked, disliked, or was neutral about Trump's speech.
Of course, maybe you were speaking figuratively and not literally (or maybe you just know more people than I do).
Even though his speech isn't going to change my vote, I appreciated his attempt to be more inclusive tone towards groups other than the typical "old white men" stereotype that GOP gets labeled with.
"As a Republican, I'm so happy to hear you cheering for what I just said," he said.
That was one of the few times I've seen him on stage giving a speech where he truly seems sincere. This notion that he's a far right bigot/racist doesn't hold water with his personal history.
