There can't be any question about government waste. For decades leaders of both parties have decried wast, fraud and abuse. So this isn't a DOGE issue or republican or democrat. Everybody has been trying to cut these from the federal budget.
The "rubber meets the road" though when you try to cut something that has a political constituency: cut Snap, you starving poor little children: Cut Medicaid, you're the reincarnation of Adolf Eichmann: cut Medicare, throwing grandma off a cliff.....
IMO, as I've posted about a gazillion times, large government is not capable of managing large programs. We have a one size fits all approach and as a result there are anecdotal stories about a little girl somewhere who needs a certain food to survive just got cut from SNAP. And of course there are equal and opposite stories about the obese woman at the grocery store using SNAP to buy potato chips, little Debbie's, real cokes etc. In a perfect world there is something like an ombudsman who could analyze a case and make sure the little girl gets her food and the fat lady gets some nutrition help.
History is full of our politicians who decry federal spending until it impacts their programs.
People who complain about DOGE should be demanding more and better management of federal dollars. After all, we're the one's paying for this waste. Unless of course you're one of those not paying any federal tax.
My counter point would be this, There absolutely was a history of waste due to inefficiencies, but a former DOGE member has stated that they were shocked at how little actual issues there were in the government programs that he looked into.
I work in a medical field and quite literally the easiest Medical plan to work with is Medicare. They are clear on the billing and coding requirements, they audit improper billing, and don't pay until it's corrected.
When we assess our government, I don't want them to be focused on cost savings at the expense of the customer, who are taxpayers. My mother is 71 and my Mother in law is 81, I need for Medicare to make sense to them, I need for them to have support and have people who can help them through the process.
Some programs and services to me don't need to be solely profit focused. I don't want to see wanton waste, but the recent DOGE process has shown that there is less actual waste and fraud than the reputation and rhetoric would have you believe
too much contradictory information on this entire renewable energy debate. I hear how renewables will save money for consumers right after articles on how inefficient and costly renewables are. The whole debate seems to have been taken over by politicians instead of by experts who could provide factual data to make sound decisions.
All I know is that when I looked at adding solar panels to my Florida property we determined that the payback period, assuming no maintenance on the panels, would be somewhere in the 15-18 year range. To me, that's crazy. Who knows where they'll be in 15 years?
Same with EVs. With the amount of miles I drive annually, I would never break even on the premium paid for the EV.
I don't begrudge anybody who makes use of renewable energy. They make their own decisions. I would never buy stock or bonds in a wind turbine company. The government goes up and down on fossil fuels and who knows where the companies will end up when the music stops.
I'm on Medicare as well and for me it's a great system. I come back to one of my original statements, we need some form of ombudsman to deal with issues and make quick decision base on a common sense approach instead of the one size fits all approach. Agreed, I'll tell you this, from the provider side, it's not worth it to try and cheat Medicare. It is extremely well managed and they don't pay if coding is not correct. They will absolutely check and audit Doctors for billing.
As DOGE found out, there is far less fraud and poor management today then the reputation and popular opinion would lead you to believe.
DOGE is not a failure and they have already indicted multiple companies for massive medicaire fraudulent claims. Libs are looney.

No matter how you slice it, clean energy is the future and it's a travesty for us to abdicate our role in an industry we pioneered to the Chinese. Just because it hasn't been perfected is no reason to pull the plug on it, but let's be real, this boils down to one thing and one thing only, he wants to destroy an industry that employs and is strongly supported by libs. Fact, that's the whole nine yards.

I said nothing about Medicaid, but if we are finding fraudulent payments that supports what I said. Medicare and Medicaid are very well monitored and if you attempt to fraudulently bill you will be caught and it will be found out.
They constantly monitor doctors files and make sure that all supporting data is in the files. You can't claim an issue without a test to support that claim.

Exactly my point. If you try to cheat the system, you will be caught. These programs are much better run than their reputation would have you believe.
Did you get hit hard on your head? They are referencing over a trillion in fraudulent claims that were processed that they found after the fact. There are multiple active cases the doj is working now.
The DOGE audit uncovered it is my understanding of it.
