I have enjoyed I am the Night, but it pales in comparison to True Detective.
Season three has been tremendous. And I always chuckle when people say Season 3 has dragged a bit. Every scene in that show is meaningful. Every camera angle has its motivation. Every sentence is carefully crafted. There is nothing wasted. And the acting this season has been incredible. Ali's ability to portray Hays in the different decades is phenomenal. I think his old man portrayal is the most impressive thing he's done as an actor, and the man won an Oscar.
Also, when Stephen Dorff was first announced as signing on, I laughed. I thought it sounded ridiculous. Hell, Dorff hasn't been relevant for 20 years. But damn, he is really nailing the part of Roland. His tearful display at the end of episode 5 may just earn him an Emmy.
