Not sure of the longevity though with their record last season. Thought Zac was fortunate to survive this off season. Here's hoping Burrow can help turn things around for them.

Burrow should honestly pull an Eli and refuse to play for the Bengals. No one can turn the Bengals around with their incompetent ownership.

Apparently Texas A&M is a connection between Taylor and Walters. Taylor was a graduate assistant for the Aggies when Walters coached their wide receivers. So a guy who was a GA while Walters was a position coach at TAMU, is now an NFL head coach and Walters boss. I still don't get Taylor's ascension through the NFL ranks to that role, but more power to him. And to think it all started because he dated (and later married) Mike Sherman's daughter.

Could have sworn it was Elway refusing to play with the Colts when Frank Kush was the head coach..

But carry on..

nepotism is everything in the NFL. But it was his time with Sean McVay that landed him the HC job. Say what you want about Zac but Goff liked like crap in 2017 & some what in 2019. Taylor was with him in 2018 when he looked elite

Ztay is a really bright WCO mind and the trend was to bring in young cute guys to run really fun offenses. It worked in LA for a year and they are trying it in Arizona. Also, the Bungles ownership literally couldn't convince anybody else to come there. As long as the Brown family resides over that place they will stink. They hit on about 10 draft picks in a 4 year span and couldn't win a playoff game. That was after whiffing hard for 25 straight years. Feel bad for Walters, it is a paycheck but coaching for the bungles is a step down from NU...he will have crappier facilities for sure.

Goff has never been elite. Todd Gurley was a big reason he had so much success in 2018 . Todd Gurley was having One of the best years of any NFL back ever until the playoffs, when Goff and McVay got to cute with the pass in the Super Bowl!

Taylor’s quick rise to HC in the NFL was seriously due to him being at the right place at the right time... the NFL is very much a copy cat league and teams were all looking to catch lightening in a bottle like the Rams did, Taylor was I believe the rams OC at the time, and the success that was being had by young offensive minded coaches blinded the owners, they think/ thought Tayler could do the same since he worked under mcVey (not sure on that spelling)

Thing is, he wasn't even the OC, he was the QB coach in 2018 and WR coach in 2017. I would think a team would want their HC to at least have experience as an OC (or DC) in the NFL.

I’d buy that if Gurley had carried them to the super bowl, but he didn’t. Gurley was hurt during the playoffs and though TG did play, it was mostly CJ Anderson who was the main back. Todd Gurley started the year at a ridiculous peace, but for the last 4 games of the regular season and 3 games in the playoffs, was not a factor. Downplay it all you want but Goff was a top 5 or 10 QB in 2018 and Zac Taylor did have a lot to do with it. I think winning the NFC kind of proves that. And they really did win it without the use of Gurley in the playoffs. That really did happen

what you have is called selective memory. How long you had that problem?

that’s right, I couldn’t remember if he was the OC or not wasn’t 100% sure.... but I agree I’d think they would have wanted to had seen him be an OC before taking the head job... but I think they seen the progression that was made with Goff, and credited it to Taylor... I don’t know, I felt that they reached at the time and was actually a little upset that Taylor took that for his first HC gig... I feel that will be a career killer for him...

Taylor was a good Husker and has been a good ambassador for us. Really hope he succeeds, either at Cincy or elsewhere!

He could be our future head coach....he'll flame out with the bungles next year, get a nice OC job in about 3 years...and we should be ready for a new coach in about 6 years...we are into nepotism so...

Being Sherman's son-in-law didn't hurt him. Playing QB for BC didn't hurt him either. BOTH of those guys are widely respected for their offensive minds by most people in the NFL. The bottomline is that he's had great timing, works hard and no doubt interviews well. Top shelf guy. His brother Press is the QB coach and passing game coordinator for the Eagles. Bright guys.

He's an assistant to an assistant coach... big step down.

I would guess very similar in status to being on the honor roll, and the assistant to the assistant manager at the movie theater. If that guy can't smell his qualifications, then who needs him, right?
