Here’s an idea. Take all the money earmarked for football and basketball and put it into women's volleyball. Probably go undefeated every year and kick ***.

I hope Fred can turn it around, but by next year? Let’s be honest Fred and his assistant‘s have not recruited very well, my disappointment with Fred starts with him not getting one of the in-state top recruits(Hepburn,Sallis,Traudt,Green) this. Is not acceptable.

I understand this decision is because of the huge buyout, but Trev comes off looking like a leader who is very ok with losing. Fred is worst D1 coach!
We are a university and fan base okay with losing. How many accepted Frost coming back with one more season of historic losing than Fred has under his belt?

Will he return next year

I stand by my comment. I have seen numerous posts on social media saying doc needs to be fired as the asst coach in charge of the defense. Until this year, yes, he was an asst coach....and as with all the coaches .....the responsibility has to be someone's for the "**** show" that has been going on since Fred took over. But its crap that people are blasting Doc for the poor D....when they obviously aren't aware that his role changed this year....and he cant coach from the bench. Enough blame to go around......Fred, choosing to bring certain players in....and all the coaches for putting up with selfish play.
Agree that Doc doesn't deserve his pink slip any more than anyone else on the staff - Hoiberg included. But similar to the Frost situation, Alberts evidently feels he's too far under water on the head coach's contract to make a change at the top. That's why Fred will stay and others on the staff will be shown the door, because this team is too much of a total embarrassment to bring back the same staff to oversee it.

I'm confused, do we have talent or not?
we have IMO more talent than Miles ever had to work with and have had poorer results. This team is like the Island of Misfit Toys. Our big isn't big enough nor does he have any outside game. Our point guard turns the ball over WAY too much. IMO, we have 2 guys who have the potential to play in the NBA and at the very least be quality B1G starters. The rest are role players with holes in their games but even given that there's deeper bench talent than Miles ever had to work with. JMO. Not longing for Timmy back. Just wish Fred was getting more out of what he has because he has enough talent to be winning more games than he has.

You don’t think player evaluation is also a problem? You have guys on this roster who wouldn’t be legitimate Power 5 players if John Wooden and Chuck Daly coached them.
I don't know if it's evaluation or just being able to get enough talented guys interested in coming to Nebraska. Clearly there have been some guys leave the area for smaller programs that appear that they would have been better than some of the transfers we've brought in. That concerns me.

Who is the second guy you are referring to here (besides Bryce)? Just curious.
Trey is going to get a look. I know he needs to work on his perimeter shot but he's an elite athlete and good defender. He'll probably end up on a G league team but I think eventually he'll get signed to an NBA roster.

He should focus on turning himself into a Patrick Beverly clone. Has to significantly improve his shooting but the rest of his game could compute into that type of player.

Gotcha. I think he's too turnover prone and can't shoot very well. (But so was Banton, so what do I know 😀!)

Yes- guys can make a decent living in the NBA if they can play killer defense and knock down wide open 3's.

Speaking of Beverly, he'd laugh or puke watching the effort our guys give at times. He plays great defense primarily because of the supreme effort he puts into it. If I was Trev, that's the first damn question I'd ask Fred - why don't your guys always play hard?

I think it would be beneficial for Trev to have Cook join his executive team. I read somewhere that Cook had helped Williams with some issues. Maybe Cook could help other coaches too.

Might be time to bring Dani back...and let Cook transition to administration. Cook has coached both BB and FB. Gotta do something.....

Trev is taking his time and looking for the right coach, he isn't making a last minute desperation hire.

Good start against the Fightin’ Frans. Every trip I would try to get the ball to either Walker or the guy Bohanon is pretending to guard.

Trey McGowens taking it to the rack tonight. He's posterized Iowas's "lottery pick" twice now. Andre has played well so far.

What are the chances both Trey and Walker will be here next year...

Slim to none and Slim left town. Bryce will go to the NBA and I would expect Trey to go as well whether he's drafted or not. The G league pays well enough that he would probably rather do that than play on a losing team again.

goodness. Why did Andre with 4 seconds left run at a guy already being guarded 30 feet from the hoop leaving his guy open for a layup? Stupid.
