YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I was waiting for the disclosure of a renegotiated contract with a lower buyout when I saw the headline about him coming back. Now Fred's got a year to prove it or leave. Move Doc to an assistant AD for basketball of some type which only requires him to drink with boosters and tell jokes. Hire a young guy who is a balls to the walls defensive assistant. FIND A TRUE POINT GUARD AND BIG MAN... Sorry for yelling.

the renegotiated contract should be for zero dollars and only available after sufficient public begging and groveling

Impressive!!! Nebraska is saving money on coaching salaries in the midst of the highest inflation since the 1980’s.

Got to have the players just like in football. NU has not had the players for years and years. Of course a few past coaches not so great either. When you are at the bottom of the basketball teams in colleges it is hard to get up.

He's got enough players to be better than what they've shown.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

So glad we have such a smart competent highly experienced AD at Nebraska, a fellow Nebraskan and a Husker! All Fred needs is our full support and praise. With some new assistants, some new transfers, and a few new recruits, the off season will look highly promising and hopeful for next year. Fred has proven he can go to the Final 4 as a coach so we have that to look forward to in the future.

Just a really stupid move. Keep the worst coach in college hoops around for more of the same. As I stated yesterday, as long as Ronnie and Trev are happy it doesn’t matter one iota about the fans.

I have mixed emotions about it. Trev appears to have some nice additions for next year but his inability to get these guys to play together is perplexing. Frankly I think Trev realizes that Nebrasketball doesn't move the needle with most Husker fans and that saving nine million might be more important than going to the dance next year. IF Fred turns things around, he looks like a genius. IF Fred doesn't turn things around, he's a hero for saving the U a truck load of money.

I expected it to take a while to see results but admittedly did not expect to be almost done 3 seasons in and not have any positive tangible results. I'm glad they reduced the buyout. I'm hoping this means they'll be spending more to upgrade the assistant coaches and "hopefully" get this program on the right track.

I admit, I was more upset that they brought Frost back for another season than I was finding out they're bringing Fred back. What a disaster the two main men's programs are.

I like Fred and hope he can in fact run things around. I'm just astounded that NU is as bad as it is with some of the talent they have on this team. Sadly I think we might only have 2 guys on this whole roster who could start for another B1G team but then that's what Miles dealt with and he still won more games than this. Miles won more games playing walk ons after kids quit than Fred has won with a full slate of scholarship dudes.

Maybe Trev is the one we need to be replacing. Combined 10 wins between football and basketball this year.

That’s a great way to put it.
I’m shocked its ended up this way myself.
could it be better with a slightly different roster?
sometimes it’s a guy here and role player there.

One talking head I was listening to a while back thinks it's primarily psychological with this team this year. He thought the early losses and that beat down to Auburn destroyed any confidence this team had and then they lost Trey who he thought was the lead dog. Losses piled up. More confidence lost and malaise set in. Now they're just playing out the year. I do think the B!G is a meat grinder this year but we should still have been able to win more games than we have.

Trev didn't hire these guys or give them the huge contracts. Now he's trying to limit the damages that Moos incurred by "opening the checkbook".....

Is 7 million that big of a deal in a situation like this? I’m all for keeping him with staff changes and a restructured contract but I think we should have done a lot better than just 7 million less.

I do not understand why people keep mentioning Doc...Doc is not one of the 3 asst coaches. Doc was demoted before the season ever started when they brought in Nate. Doc has some some title like special asst to the head coach. Doc has not been coaching defense from the bench. From.the looks of it....no one has been in charge of defense during games. Doc cannot coach from the bench per NCAA regulations.

That said....staff has to change. Who of the 3 assts are kept? And again.....Doc is not one of those 3.

You’re trying to make a point about attendance. I get that; however, I’m curious when this photo was taken. It’s Penn State. We didn’t play them this year in Lincoln(?). Last year was Covid. We couldn’t attend last year.

If you’ve ever attended Husker games, as a general rule, we are notoriously late to get to our seats. There’s 15 minutes+ before the game. Not unusual for a lot of empty seats at that time. Note, the people in the expensive front row seats attend the games. Like clock work. Even this year.

Trev is a genius!

He still has not had to hire a coach and so he is still not "on the clock", amazing!

Fred's first team at least played hard. They couldn't make FTs or layups, but they ran an offense and at least gave effort on D. This team would beat that team by 30 in a pickup game, but is somehow worse to watch.
