I don’t know about that . Should Foster or Evans return they slide into the 2/3 and combo slot with Foster . What if Proctor returns ? Henderson is starting I’d bank on that . Cameron and one of Brown or Big Pat . Duke is actively looking for a pg in the portal .
I put Foster coming back at less than 20%

If Pat and Brown return will one be ok not starting? Cause big Boozer is starting. If we won the title next year is a bonus so I will not worry.

Imo this season is a blue print for the depth and style the coaching staff wants to play moving forward. 10-11 guys who are capable of contributing on any given night, Defend at a high level, share the ball on the offensive end, and are “Together”.

If you are a “Me 1st type of player” then Duke isn’t recruiting you

My opinion doesn’t matter, but Foster and Cayden Boozer are enough to run the Point

I think if Proctor returns he will continue to play off the ball (the 2) unless the nba guys tell him they want to see him go back to running the point*

Then we have Evans/Harris/Khamania/Henderson for the other wing/wings

Frontcourt
Cameron
Brown
Ngongba

^ 10 capable guys up there

Harris coming back? Hmmm

I hope he does, I think he and Proctor will be the two biggest question marks in the off season

Guard and wing wise if 9-10 of my post above return then Duke is set at the Guard and Wing spot imo. Would just like to get 1 more shot blocker/lob threat to go 4 deep with the bigs of Brown, Ngongba, and Cameron

Oh me too. Carolina hitting the portal hard hosting the Arizona big man. They could have used him this year.

Harris coming back? Hmmm
Haven’t heard otherwise yet on Harris but there are rumblings of Evans and Foster. Evans a course has the trifecta . He could enter the draft, transfer or choose to stay . I agree with Bull. Cayden and Foster would be ideal . I think Foster however is more suited of the ball as a scorer.
Getting an established pg would be excellent. Especially with Big Pat and Cameron down low .

I don’t think you lose a ton of sleep over the Evans decision. He is fun but as currently constructed I’d prefer him as a 20 minute a night 6th man who cooks with a second unit. Obviously players grow but I think he has a lot of bad habits that will be hard to break. I believe you can find someone that fits the system better.

Then Duke will look at the transfer portal but I doubt we see a starting back court of a transfer and a freshman .
Maybe, but Cayden is starting next year. I’d love for Rese to come back but his stock is high right now and Foster you have to think is looking for more minutes.

But all that matters right now is the next two games.

Isn’t Cayden more of a combo ? Not really a pg ?

The transfer thing certainly varies from player to player, and it is much easier and lucrative to transfer now. Players do not always see things the way fans do. With a guy like Foster who knows. I have enjoyed watching him improve this year, but he is also a guy Jon does not seem to trust with major minutes. So he may see himself with a big role next year, or a guy who will come off the bench/get pulled quickly and seek a school where he can start. He could start for us next year, but he would have to become way more consistent. Guys hit the portal quick so we should find out next week, hopefully after winning a title. If we win a title this stuff won't matter as much to me. Duke does have a history of starting 5 star freshman over fringe rotation returning guys, so I am sure this factors in.

He is a volume shooter w/ sketchy shot selection and a below average defender who gets bullied due to body type. I think his level of interest on the defensive end came a long way and he seems like a good kid/teammate. Just not the type of player I personally want seeing 30+ minutes a game.

In his start against FSU he shot 17x including 13 three pointers in 24 minutes and was super inefficient. He shot the ball 7 more times than Kon and 8 more times than your NPOY while only getting 2 boards and 1 assist. He would honestly be perfect at Bama

I guess I’m in the minority it seems but to me Pat starts over Brown.

I’m probably also in the minority here, I love Evans as much as anyone but his shot selection is extremely iffy.

He is probably more suited to play 15-23 minutes, more if hot.

Two more wins 🙏.

I can’t see Pat not starting next year, Jon’s big thing is size and length. Prolly prefers Brown off the bench but he’ll still get plenty of pt. I think Evans will be the biggest piece to get back, our starting 5 is absolutely gone

You do realize right before that game Scheyer has been telling him to shoot more right? You do remember Proctor his freshman year wasn’t all that good on defense now he is one of the better on ball defenders in college. I’ll take Evans any day of the week starting . His only flaw is he’s skinny and when he’s on the court he is the only true three point threat most of the time unless one of Kon or Proctor is on he court . Teams play him close every game they don’t want him getting hot .

Think it's clear that Jon has given Evans the green light to shoot but at times Evans takes it to extreme lol. A second year would do him wonders with more ball fakes and driving to the basket as well as back door cuts because teams over play him to shoot the 3. It's up to him if he wants to be a second round pick this year or come back and be a potential lottery pick next year.

Starters
Cayden Boozer, Fr
Isaiah Evans, So
Nate Ament, Fr
Cameron Boozer, Fr
Pat Ngongba, So

Bench
Caleb Foster, Jr (or transfer guard if he leaves)
Darren Harris, So
Shelton Henderson, Fr
Nik Khamenia, Fr
Maliq Brown, Sr

Maliq, Shelton, and Foster (or a transfer guard) would be the first ones off the bench. Just a guess.

If you look at years we have advanced deep, 22 and 25, we had veteran grown men to compliment the freshman. Zions year we came close but needed a 3 point specialist.

Evans and Harris are going to stay especially with Evans playing himself out of being drafted. Which is good imo he’s too skinny to make an impact in the nba

Foster idk… think he was moving on for sure when he wasn’t playing but he’s back in the rotation

Lmao at unc they are missing out on their top portal targets 😂💀

Harris was completely out of the rotation. I hope he stays but would understand if he moved on

True Chris, Harris definitely helped his game by practicing with and against the 10 guys ahead of him this season.

If Harris returns he will be one of the Veterans along with Foster, Brown, Ngongba, Evans, and Proctor*

Would Love to see Harris return to work on his strength and conditioning as well as his defense.
