Hold up for a second which Mountain teams you talking about cause my understanding is that a SMC school team been in the state championship ever year between 2010-2020 and you want to say mountain team Mitchell was in it in 2021
I'm talking about from 2000 to 2008 when Thomasville was in 1a. Don't recall any mountain teams when I was in high school from 2000 to 2003. Murphy and MA showed up during the playoffs around around 2004 and 2006 but that's it. Wasn't till 2010 before mountain teams dominated 1a again, because all the good teams moved up.

Mount Airy won the 1A in 2008 and runner-up in 2009 losing by 1 point in OT and going 15-1 in 2009 & 16-0 in 2008. Going 31-1 in those 2 years. It depends on which 1a you talking about because in 2001 they made 1a and 1aa. The SMC was all mostly 1a and Thomasville and Albemarle was 1aa. the early 2000 in 1a was ran by swain and Elkin. So it wasn't because Mountain teams was bad or yall was so good. I think from 2014 until now, you’d be right. Prior to that, I like Thomasville’s chances. Allen Brown retired at the end of the 2013 season.
Our worst years was 2000 to 2007.
We had a new coach every year but starting in 2008 we got a coach that's still here.

Well in1999 Thomasville beat Reidsville and only lost one regular season game to Jordan Matthews. Robbinsville put Thomasville out of the playoffs 35-22.
Yeah, I was at that game. Was a fun ride despite the results. Think you guys lost the week after. Surprised we didn't see Robbinsville in the playoffs in the 2000s, wanted revenge.

Yes sir. I was there too and it was a good game. Thomasville had a pretty amazing stretch from 1987to 2011. 268-55. 7-1 in state championship games. Four undefeated seasons and five more with one loss. 44 game win streak.
Thomasville took a couple steps back when Coach Brown retired but hopefully we’re on the way back.
Love to meet in the playoffs again, but hope it’s in the Chair City this time. My wife and I slept in our SUV in a campground last time and almost froze to death.
2008, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2018 till now would be good games.

Our 3 2A championships hold more weight than your 15 midget league trophies.

I'm looking forward to Robbinsville at Mtn Heritage in 2 weeks. It will be my first time at that stadium. Not sure who I will watch week 4 but I'm not going to Alleghany.
Week 5 is open so I gotta find a game that week
Then week 6 vs Rabun with 11 D1 players.
I was wanting Draughn in Rville during the playoffs and now I'm really wanting Thomasville.

If the Bulldogs don’t develop a quarterback, you won’t be seeing them. Four interceptions, one a pick six and zero passing yards.
To me it’s more of the offensive line. Poor qb was running for his life and was getting hit everytime he tried to pass. Offensive line would just be turned around watching their qb go down…it was sad to see.
You’re probably right. I missed this game and you were there. The sophomore showed a lot of talent last year as the jv qb. Hopefully, they’ll get the problem fixed.
I know it’s a haul but Different from last year I think Alleghany will be more than competitive this year. Looked really good against north forsyth in a scrimmage and beat up a not so good surry central team last night. Not saying they will have anything for y’all but could be a better game than expected

Probably but I could see a 10-0 team traveling to a 9-1 team depending on SOS and the silly ranking system we have.
Thomasville and Draughn not much to go off of. Interesting one for me is ER losing pretty bad. They always have so much talent so you know they will be around, but that was a pretty lop sided score.
Rabun Gap beat Chattanooga Baylor last night. Baylor is defending champs in TN’s highest private school class. If Rville can hang with Rabun Gap they can hang with anyone 1A will throw at them.
Eastern Randolph was playing Eastern Alamance. Same result this year as last. Traditional 3a power. I will say with a healthy Davonte brooks last season ER was another kinda team. But with that said I think last night’s results were as expected in ER vs EA. The cats will be good. But the other results are telling me it’s the mountains vs MA this year. That would typically make me nervous as a bears fan. But this years team has plenty of depth to sustain a few injuries if they occur and they can match anyone in 1a /2a football in a physical smashmouth football game. Time will tell as the season goes on. Just hope the Smokey mountain teams don’t beat each other up and if so a couple of those teams have enough depth to sustain. Looking forward to a fun November if it all pans out. Best time of year indeed
ER lost to Eastern Alamance 42-27 last year to start season. EA went on to #1 seed in East 3A. This year score was 35-15. Difference being this year one TD more.
Not sure how good/bad ER will be going forward. They do play an all 3A/2A schedule which aids them as far as RPI.
We shall all see I guess.
With a heathy Davonte was the key last year yes sir. On both sides of the ball.

Both teams lost to bigger schools that will be playoff teams. Those early losses will hurt for seeding but go a long ways towards preparing them for playoffs against the Robbinsville, MA, Draughn, Murphy, Mitchell and other good teams that they will see come playoff time. Thomasville has a stretch of five games now that will decide their playoff future. Three non-cons and then back to back dates with Salisbury and N Rowan to begin conference play.
That’s why it’s hard to take much from these non conferences games a lot of times. ER, Draughn, and Thomasville were not really expected to beat the teams they played Friday night but like you said it really helps them mentally when November rolls around and they have those high competition games already under their belts. It’s just hard for us in the rest of the world to judge those three off their games cause we don’t get to see the teams they are playing that often. Trust me I’m not doubting them three at all I don’t care if they start out 0-4 lol I know they can play
