They were 48 last year. They lost nothing of value and add Jalen Hood-Schifino and a couple other good recruits. I could see them being 20ish spots betterIU at 29 is ridiculous. They've done NOTHING for the past several years. Yes, they look good in advance of the coming season, but 29?
This isn't the AP rankingThey were 48 last year. They lost nothing of value and add Jalen Hood-Schifino and a couple other good recruits. I could see them being 20ish spots better
Thank you for this. I like having a good laugh in the morning. We should be above Maryland who we have been better than and should be better than again
Indiana has been trading on Bobby Knight’s tenure since he’s left. They’re like the Miami in college football in that they have a huge name but aren’t any better than South Florida. Let them finish above .500 in conference play before they act like they’re relevant. Not even the best team in their state in their conference (and haven’t been for years).IU at 29 is ridiculous. They've done NOTHING for the past several years. Yes, they look good in advance of the coming season, but 29?
You obviously didn't read the criteriaThank you for this. I like having a good laugh in the morning.
You're free to start your own list of "Top 50 men's basketball programs of all time."Keep in mind the guy who put this list together has probably seen all of 12 years of college basketball. Which is probably why he is disregarding past decades: (70s, 80, 90s, etc.). He hasn't seen them.
Gen Z don't give af about the nineteen-hundreds.
The bad news is they have to play Rutgers every year. They were 48 last year. They lost nothing of value and add Jalen Hood-Schifino and a couple other good recruits. I could see them being 20ish spots better
Maryland literally was so bad their coach just got fired
Meanwhile Rutgers finished 4th place and got a double bye
Objectively one program is currently better
Big 10 basketball is overrated and it’s style of physicality etc is in many ways outdatedNot a lot of respect for the conference. No big 10 schools in the top 10, and only two in the top 20.
Iowa was 5th in the country in scoring last season, Purdue was 15th. You're barking up the wrong tree with those two coaches.Big 10 basketball is overrated and it’s style of physicality etc is in many ways outdated
Conference also doesn’t recruit well and the big flashy names go to schools in other conferences
Problem is this conference has too many Greg Gard / Matt Painter / Fran McCaffrey types who do well in regular season because of the conference style and then get exposed during NCAAs
Conference needs more coaches who can recruit better and install flashier more up and down systems whereby ncaa success is sustainable and maybe a championship that has alluded this conference in 20 years can occur.
That's been changing a little bit recently. 16 players out of the Big Ten in the last 2 NBA drafts. 20 from the SEC, 14 from the ACC.Conference also doesn’t recruit well and the big flashy names go to schools in other conferences
I don't think most people understand how important this is to recruits. It's HUGE.That's been changing a little bit recently. 16 players out of the Big Ten in the last 2 NBA drafts. 20 from the SEC, 14 from the ACC.
And without an offense!!! LOL ! Pike is da Man!Kudos to Pike for moving us up about 300 spots from when he took over the program.
A list of current top 50 programs would simply be a ranking of the top 50 teams. Nothing wrong with that at all. You're free to start your own list of "Top 50 men's basketball programs of all time."
There's nothing wrong with a top 50 list of current top programs. Much more relevant to me than who was great decades ago [Note that I'm in my 50s, not a Gen Z kid].
Should we include Depaul or UMass since they were so fantastic 30-40 years ago?
