You should calm down and realize that win or lose, none of this matters. It’s a huge waste of time giving this much energy and emotion to people that don’t even know you exist.

Whether they would’ve gone to the Final Four or went winless, the only thing that changed was you didn’t have a new t-shirt to buy.

The season was over after starting 1-6 or whatever it was. "Wail til March!" "UK will grow and get better!" All that BS means nothing when you have killed your shot at an at-large bid ... UK was going to have to win the SECT far earlier than people wanted to admit. So I had no expectations of making the tournament as far back as December. It's been much easier to deal with the rest of the season ever since.

I’m sure it’s killing Cal as much as you - I feel confident he will construct a much better roster for next season
He will get a point guard
Two more shooters
And tougher & more physical players

Why do you feel so confident? Our incoming class is ho hum and we will inevitably lost 5-8 guys and 70% of our scoring. We may bring in a couple transfers but...?

I saw today where Duke is listed the second 4 out. How ridiculous is this? I hate to say it but Memphis would certainly deserve being in there over Duke having just played Houston twice at the end of the season with nail bitters. So would several mid major regular season conference champions who lost in their league tournaments. Duke's big win was at home against Virginia otherwise they have been lousy and non deserving. Oh, they were on a roll in their tourney? Really? Beating last place Boston and mid level UL? Avoiding playing Florida State gets rewarded?????? No they better not be in it.

Now to the OP. I agree 100%. Normally at this time of the season has always been exciting. Remember this is Kentucky we are talking about. OK we didn't come in first place this season, so we can say we are spoiled. But, we did come in second. No? Wait, third? No wait? See this is beyond unacceptable for Kentucky basketball.

I have been a fan of Cal and keep wondering am I in the "fair weather fan base." I really think not. I want Cal to right the ship and consider this season as bad decisions in recruiting, playing, etc. But, there have been severe exposure of things we kind of knew with Cal. He has to have elite talent, a big defensive center, and an elite point guard to run the offense and implement his style of basketball. He better somehow achieve that next season or I definitely will be on the band wagon for his ouster. I do like Cal and have felt he is a good fit overall but I respect the program more.

March is always my favorite time of year because of college basketball, but the last year put a lot into perspective for me. The outcomes of college sports are so trivial in the grand scheme of things. Life is too short to have so much hatred for our basketball coach or to put your entire life into a game.

I’m so pissed at Cal right now. Ruined my favorite Sunday of the year. Just got to watch a panel of douche bags talk about wether Duke deserves a bid. F this ****.
I think what is making everyone so sick is not only the worst season in UK history but it being “at least” 3 calander yrs since UK played an NCAAT game (circa March 2019-March 2022).

So Ratface initially wanted to just call off the whole season. AD said Duke’s season was done. Now being reported Duke is OK to play in the NCAAT. What a self serving flip flopping piece of **** hypocrite.
I predicted that from day 1. They didn’t want to risk another loss to blemish their record. And with the NCAA saying you only need 5 to play, there was no doubt they would crawl in and look like media darlings! 😡😡😡😡

No doubt that last season being stopped just before the tournament has exacerbated these feelings for the fan base.

Just chiming in as I saw your question...

1. I won't be confident of a major turnaround if we lose more than Fletcher, Sarr, BJ, Clarke or Mintz.
1a. I think we get one of Mintz or Boston back fwiw.

2. Part of my confidence stems from the fact that Cal just posted the worst record of his 33 year HC career. It is near equivalent to what he produced in his first year at UMass. He won't tolerate this level of mediocrity and will do everything in his power to turn it around big time next year. Including re-recruiting players (something they've talked about in Lucas role).
2a. Roy Williams was 14-19 in an actual full season last year and even with covid crap and a bunch of new players has them at 18-10 this year....not that this is great, but it is a significant 1 year turnaround.

3. See point 1. I think we will get more back than people think. We could be bringing back a similar percentage of our scoring that we did in '10, '12, '15.
3a. When UK returns this kind of scoring/experience under Cal we have historically had our best seasons under him.

4. This season was chalk full of the "perfect storm". This is on Cal- no excuses, just reality...we returned Brooks only this year who was very limited in contributions as a Freshman...COVID wrecked team chemistry- none of these guys knew each other and had little time to interact, no summer, etc. This also affected conditioning, player development, etc. Boston and Clarke were busts this year...Sarr was meh... Lastly, lost Payne and Peevy, big blows to Cal.

Above is my line of thinking. If we return 20% of scoring we won't be successful IMO. We need guys back...the core. We need to bring in a couple more additions and maybe shakeup the staff.

Ultimately, I don't see a world where Cal doesn't go foot to the floor to make sure next year is a MAJOR turnaround.

Come on Dr. Phyllis. We know that. It’s just that this is a interest/hobby/passion that we care about. A distraction from real life. And Cowardpari ruined it

Agree with what you're saying and have tried to look at it that way so many times before. Never fails I'll start to apply that to all things that are a source of entertainment without a personal aspect that effects my life at all to justify not having. Always revert back at some point but have slowly cut a lot of sports/entertainment out of my life since the start of the pandemic when you learn what life is like without them.

If you think like that then why watch? I chose to make it really important. That's why we are UK.

Why are people on this message board that don’t have a true passion for UK basketball? UK fans and the love of their team is what separates our program from others.

Furthermore, you being in the minority of Ho-hum UK fans, coming here to lecture, shows your lack of awareness and what a true d-bag you are.

Have a good day being a better, more well rounded human being than the rest of us.

I guess some people have different priorities in life, and different reasons to be angry. I’m happy, healthy, enjoying my family, doing OK financially, and loving life. I’m not about to get worked into a lather over a part time diversion that I like to follow. As was said earlier in the thread, don’t matter if they went 0-31, or 40-0, or if the season had been canceled, my life wouldn’t change at all.

I’ll save my outrage for something important.

Hatred? Just because most of the fan base on and off this board heavily criticize and no longer respect and support John Calipari (for a variety of reasons) doesn’t mean they hate him lol. I don’t know him? I don’t HATE him. In all actuality, I can’t really think of anybody that I hate.

You seem to hold resentment and anger for the majority who no longer support Calipari or like his model. Again, just because majority of the fans have harsh criticisms for John Calipari doesn’t mean they hate him.

This is right of course, and I'm starting to think I might just give this all up. Of course, this is the mentality at every school not UK, Duke, Kansas, UNC and a few others. Then, we won't care about UK basketball anymore. It won't be one of the first three things people mention when they talk about our state. The is right. And that will be Cal's legacy.

I do not see much change in the future I think Payne was what made this ky team go , I wish we had a coach who was more concerned about winning titles instead of getting players to the pros.

Re point 3

Cal added some real talent to what was returning in the years cited. Not so much so far for next year
