This team has no clue right now.

This same scenario happens every year and every year I post that it happens every year and why are some still not getting it ? We need fans that improve as time goes on , I'm crazy relaxed about this team . Things need to be worked on but who didn't expect that given that IT HAPPENS EVERY TOUCHING YEAR AND IT WILL HAPPEN NEXT YEAR TOO . The overreaction will happen next year too so I guess it's when will I learn .

I didn't think you understood but, you do.

Geez.....I feel like I am reading about our football team instead of the number one basketball team in the country.

Guess people never stop complaining regardless. Getting really old!!!!

I am surprised how many are panicking. You are right, outside of last season, we have seen this every single year Cal has been here.

We don't have nearly as much room for error as we did last year, and we aren't the prohibitive favorites to win it all like last year, but I feel extremely competent we will be right in the mix of things for the title once again come March.

No kidding.

I think the big shocker to some was the contrast between a team with a point guard with some seasoning and a point guard with little experience to fall back on. I frankly think last night was an excellent experience for the club. We will NOT win the NC depending on Ulis. At some point, foul trouble, fatigue, injury or perhaps even a bad match up will take him out of the line up. The team got an entire game against a respectable team to emphasize areas needing attention when Ulis is not available. We will need a solid backup point and yesterday helped develop just that.

Pulease....nothing wrong with telling it like it is. This team will get better, but they are not hitting on all cylinders yet. Don't need to peak in Nov-Dec. They have work to do, a LOT of work !

So you're saying these UK players are bad and horrible. I understand now.

Not facts---your perception or maybe anticipation. Facts are they shot 63% as a team.(Nearing the great 70% as a team that MOST strive for nearer the END of the season...) Another poster gave you comparable percentages of past seasons. If a Debbie-downer is how you want to feel go ahead, don't blame or resent others for having a happier outlook. (Debbie-downers may even call it pumping sunshine..that's okay. This team is worth being happy about along with the school and the Coach...) Be Good

Get off of the Debbie-downer BS. I'm tired of so many people complaining because someone posts a thread that isn't positive. Not everything about this team is positive. At the present time there are some negatives so get over it. One negative as you state is 63% FT shooting. So in essence we miss 4 of every 10 FT's. So if we shoot 25 FT's we've left 10 points off the board and worse than that, last game we missed 17 FT's. No way to spin that in a positive fashion for you so accept reality and hope we correct it because FT's have been a big problem all season.

So can we ban the troll yet?

You need banned. Posters like you need to get real. I'm not bashing the Cats at all. I am simply stating facts and issues with the club at the present time. I have faith that we will improve as the season continues but, it is concerning.

OP have you ever considered, maybe, it's not what you said but how you said it? We've all discussed the concern with free throws, among other things in a manner where no one got bashed for their opinion. Your thread title, for example, is very off-putting. No, you aren't saying anything no one else has said; but to completely eliminate ANY positives, not to mention recognize this is nothing new to early season Cal teams kind of puts you in a bad light.

Just some friendly advice

Watched the game and was there at Rupp, so, as most of you know, you get more of a sense in person for athleticism for both teams. First, two freshmen guards led us in scoring against a team well-suited to guard us, but ISU didn't do a great job of that. Two, our defense once again on the perimeter was pretty darn good for this far into the season. It was good down low as well. Three, more than any other year, we are going to see some real instances of parity in college basketball. There are more people now, and many more good basketball players spread around the country. Illinois State is a collection of very good players, and though they lack some height, are a good team (who Cal says will be in the tournament). Finally, it is still early, but in my view we have a first-team All-American and a great supporting cast for our young team (so yes, our team DOES HAVE A CLUE) and they are now arguably the one of the best teams in the nation (a nice thing since their returning about 15% from last year and in some cases look in mid-season form). Let's take more samples before we start putting them in one category or another.
