Assuming weed would be in the other direction?
I’m cannot imagine life without a high school kegger every weekendThis is great news. Consumption is going down across the board.
I wonder why........If I recall you are against the legalizing of the reason. This is great news. Consumption is going down across the board.
Right, I'm 42 and still hit one up most weekends. It's where I meet high school chicks.I’m cannot imagine life without a high school kegger every weekend

I’m surprised. I thought this would be why.Negative Ghostrider the pattern is full. Here's a study by the national institute of health (NIH):
Past 15-Year Trends in Adolescent Marijuana Use: Differences by Race/Ethnicity and Sex - PMC
The potential for increases in adolescent marijuana use is an important concern given recent changes in marijuana policy. The purpose of this study was to estimate trends in marijuana use from 1999-2013 among a national sample of US high school ...pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
And for those of you that can't read for more than 1 minute:
Conclusion
Despite considerable changes in state marijuana policies over the past 15 years, marijuana use among high school students has largely declined. Continued surveillance is needed to assess the impact of policy changes on adolescent marijuana use.
DittoWow. I was there for peak high school drinking. Kewl.
Don't mind if I crack open another!?drinking is so fun

William Randolph Hearst and timber lobby say hold my beer. This is the answer. It's why the alcohol lobby fought legalization of weed for so long. Close second was the prison lobbyists
She asked me where my Tops are, Tops are.the paper lobby says hold my beer.
LEGAL WEED IS GATEWAY DRUG AND MOAR PPL ARE ADDICTED TO THE BEST DRUGS NOW MOAR THAN EVER
Nice spot and totally my bad. I was looking up articles on frequency of use for teens and there are a bunch of them. I picked a poor one as an example for sure. Here's a better one:That study is looking at a period ending 13 years ago (2013).
Legalization only began in 2012.
Not doubting you, but is there anything more recent?
The 70s had to be peak HS drinking in Iowa. Legal age was 18 until July 1,1978 when it went to 19. That was the summer after I graduated and unfortunately I didn't turn 18 until August so I had an additional year of underage drinking my freshman year of college!Wow. I was there for peak high school drinking. Kewl.
consensus at least on this board (edit: i meant hrot but it appears to apply to hopot as well) is that cannabis consumption is largely beneficial and nih appears to very much support this take. at the same time nih is against adolescents consuming cannabis, which does intuitively make sense particularly since it apparently affects brain development during growth years.Nice spot and totally my bad. Cannabis Use in Adolescents - PMC
As cannabis legalization expands across the United States, its use among adolescents remains a pressing public health concern. This analytic essay analyzes the current prevalence, patterns, and consequences of cannabis use in adolescents. While ...pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
This one goes through 2024 and is even more instructive. There's real risk of teens using marijuana as shown in this study. That's why NO ONE thinks teens should be using. BUT the point is that with > 50% of the US population living in states where there is Adult Legalization, marijuana use has remained low among teens.
-----------------------
The evolving landscape of cannabis legalization, increasing product potency, and diversified modes of consumption present complex challenges to adolescent health and public policy. In contrast to adults, cannabis legalization has not led to a dramatic increase in adolescent cannabis use. However, it has resulted in greater social acceptance and reduced perceived risk in adolescents. While cannabis offers therapeutic potential for certain medical conditions, there is overwhelming evidence to demonstrate significant health risks associated with its consumption in adolescents.

Here's a news release from the NIH as well:

Reported use of most drugs remains low among U.S. teens
Abstention from drug use remains at historic high, NIH-supported survey finds.www.nih.gov
Personally I've got NO FREAKING IDEA how teen use hasn't increased, but there you go... It's counter intuative as hell.
Good questions. First of all, you should know that in no way shape or form am I an expert in this. So my opinion (although in large part formed by peer reviewed scientific articles from reputible sources like the National Institutes of Health) should be treated as just an opinion.consensus at least on this board (edit: i meant hrot but it appears to apply to hopot as well) is that cannabis consumption is largely beneficial and nih appears to very much support this take. at the same time nih is against adolescents consuming cannabis, which does intuitively make sense particularly since it apparently affects brain development during growth years.
however studies (basically the article you linked) also claims "Adolescent cannabis use is associated with adverse outcomes in ...mental health, and physical health including its effects on the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine systems of body.....with no FDA-approved pharmacological treatments." if all these are true for adolescents, is it silly to worry about such effects in adults as well?
