Underground was the only place i felt threatened. My sons at the time where 17,13, and 9. I made a mistake letting them drag me into a clothing store in the mall. Dude walks past me and intentionally bumps me. Like anywhere, it has it places you should not be, but then again if you are into those things, you have witnessed stuff even in places like Lexington or BG for that matter.

How's Buckhead nowaday Don? I used to be in Atlanta all the time and my uncle went to Lakeside HS and played FB for UGA
Buckhead is relatively safe. Eat Street (Piedmont) is relatively safe. Fill up with gas so you are not doing that at some obscure 7-11 somewhere that is not safe. Don't do stupid stuff.

Can anyone recommend something fun to do during the day on Friday? No kids, just adults.
Don't miss riding on the Atlanta Trolley. That thing cost $100,000,000.00 to build (with Federal Funds.) Operating it and maintaining it is another $5,000,000.00 per year. If takes in less than $50,000.00 per year. The City of Atlanta is trying to give it to MARTA.

That guy was probably trying to pick your pocket.

CAN you smoke weed on the on the street without getting arrested?

Homeless and bad parts of town are hardly unique to Atlanta. Part of every city in America. Just need to be aware of your surroundings. And you can’t even legally smoke weed on the street in Colorado. Smoking in public/outdoors is illegal. Your supposed to get an OK from your neighbors before doing it in your own backyard. Of course as everywhere it’s tolerated at concert venues.

Atlanta is very dangerous. Seriously.
Atlanta is NOT very dangerous. Nashville has the same rate of violent crime as Atlanta at 11/1000 residents. That includes theft and everything else and car theft is one of the big ones in Atlanta. St. Louis and Memphis are MUCH higher and Louisville only slightly less than Atlanta.

Please stop with the drama - it's a huge city, there are cops all over downtown, midtown, Buckhead. As with most places, stay out of sketchy areas and you'll likely never have a problem. I've been here since '91 and lived in the city for the first 10 - no issues.

Buckhead is fine.

This is not the wild west.

Buckhead has some of the most valuable residential and commercial real estate in the South. It's a good place to send the female folk for shopping (Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza, and the relatively new "The Shops -- Buckhead Atlanta -- 'Atlanta's six blocks of style' ").

I’ve smoked weed on colfax right outside the Filmore next to three cops. Hell I got a buddy in the springs that’s a cop and smoke.

Don't do that. You gone get arrested if you do that.

Nope. Walk right into wall mart with it strapped on your back, you're good.

Now have a handgun without a permit? Not good.

This is why gun people get so angry with the discourse. Idiots make laws like this that make no sense whatsoever and then want more.

The Marta shuttle to Turner Field used to require you to walk through Underground (technically, you could get there from the street, but it wasn’t well marked).

That was the only reason I could ever find to go down there, and even that wasn’t much of a reason.

I keep waiting to hear how many Kentucky fans got murdered at the SEC Tourney. I was hoping to compare it to the number murdered during the regional this weekend.

Unfortunately, you can’t post when you are dead, so I haven’t been able to get a count.
