Davison speaks about the future. Nice read
I agreeI don't like that he's publicly criticizing current players like this. It's fine to be honest with them face-to-face, but telling the media that "character wasn't looked at enough" and we need better players isn't going to help the current guys buy-in.

DID HE NAME PEOPLE BY NAME? IF NOT, NO PROBLEM WITH ME...I agree
Exactly. He didn't put anyone's name in the paper, but he sure did send a message. He's not saying anything Frost didn't say to them on Day 1 from the sounds of it.DID HE NAME PEOPLE BY NAME? IF NOT, NO PROBLEM WITH ME...

See my post above. Making it public will only increase the motivational factor. Not sure if Matt needed to air this publicly, but it's pretty important the this type of message was communicated to the kids on the roster. Going forward, the kids that buy in now will hold those who come after them accountable.
Propaganda machine in full effect. Had the last staff done this, the same people praising it ITT would be screaming mad. It's put up or shutup for quite a few. Lamar Jackson comes to mind directly. For those who dont think this team was made to be soft as pillows under Riley- see what Frost and Co are doing. They aren't taking any prisoners. Look for lots of new faces in the starting lineup- JUCOs, Freshmen and those who choose to buy in
“The coaching staff is going to make sure if players aren’t doing what they’re supposed to be doing, there will be consequences,” he said.
“And they’re not going to like it,” said Davison.
And not everyone is going to make it with this new staff, Davison said. That was the message from day one under Frost.
“Stood there the first day and said, ‘Here’s what we’re going to ask of you. And it’s going to be a heck of a lot of fun for those of you who stay and make it and are a part of this deal. Some of you probably aren’t going to make it, and that’s OK because we’re going to get rid of the guys who can’t make it,’ ” Davison said.
The roster needs to be “flipped” Davison said. It needs guys who are willing to compete.
Last staff = .500% lifetime coach who promptly through stupid game decisions had a losing season his first year, Current staff = coached a team to an undefeated seasonPropaganda machine in full effect. Had the last staff done this, the same people praising it ITT would be screaming mad. Hilarious

IMO it would be more unfair if they didn't tell the kids that their previous level of effort was unacceptable and just blindsided them with consequences for failing to meet some invisible standard.
he said :“I don’t think character was something that was looked at enough. I don’t think fit in Nebraska was looked at enough,” Davison said.Effort is one thing, but talking about previous staffs not recruiting kids with good character is another. Those kids are still on the roster. Also, I don't think Frost has made comments like this to the media, sure he has made his expectations clear to the team, but I couldn't imagine him calling out their character to the media. I can't doubt he is happy with MD's comments, but I could be wrong.
Thats' why I lean to keeping such communication in-house and not aired in a public forum by a FB admin. Not that big of a deal though. In any event, Riley took over a nine win team from a 5 win team who had two conference wins. Pretty hard to lay down the law in that circumstance.Propaganda machine in full effect. Guess if I'm in the room with those kids I take the, "If that doesn't describe you, then you don't need to waste any energy trying to get upset about it" angle.he said :“I don’t think character was something that was looked at enough. That does not say that any of these kids have bad character just says it was not driving the recruiting

He is not calling out the names, but he is calling out the subset... I have zero problems with this. This is big boy football. Mommy and daddy no longer gonna protect you from the evils of the world. Better to face and cope with it in controlled environments than later where there is no second chance. All part of the education process of college.
Tom Osborne. Keep it in house Davison!
Ears burning? It's a fact, and your "like" on this post is as guilty as any. But then again, hypocrites cannot be consistent. It's not your fault, it's just what you are.Face it, there are a certain number of players on the roster who won't be motivated and will transfer/quit/not play. The sooner those players are gone the better. The guys who know that they're giving it everything they have are nodding in agreement with his comments.
If the last staff had made public comments criticizing the commitment and effort of certain players, we would have been screaming mad? WRONG. Just like ALWAYS (i.e. every single effing topic posted on this board since the beginning of time) there would have been a mix of opinions spanning the spectrum of agreement/disagreement. Stop acting like you know everything. It's pathetic. You constantly refer to this imaginary group of "the same people". Take off your tinfoil hat and join reality.
Like what? Propaganda machine is cranking at full speed.Tom never had to deal with the crap Scott inherited.

I would not take the approach of making public statements on how some players may not make the mark and indirectly criticize the previous staff. But Frost and staff has earned some credibility and they have chosen to play things this way. We will see if they have the funds to back the checks their mouths are writing. The previous staff failed and did not put the kids in a position to succeed.Like what? Propaganda machine is cranking at full speed.
