“Everybody knows that walls work. You look at different places, they put up a wall, no problem,” Trump said outside the White House. “You look at San Antonio, you look at so many different places, they go from one of the most unsafe cities in the country to one of the safest cities, immediately, immediately.”

Bet that wall in Dallas is pretty effective too!

Maybe he watched Davey Crockett today and thought the Alamo was protecting the city when the Mexicans were climbing over.

only retards like Dave, Airport, chevytrucksalesman and 2007 could worship a dufus like this idiot. i am sure wvu82 will come up with some lame excuse for Trump and call us dumb. He will also say something about Hillary or Obama being dumb. Pelosi should let him do his state of the Union so he can continue to make a fool of himself.

Ronna McDaniel on Twitter: "Walls work. We've seen big drops ...
We've seen big drops in illegal traffic where we've built barriers w/ Mexico: - San Diego: Dropped 92% - El Paso: Dropped 95% - Tucson: Dropped 90% - Yuma: Dropped 95% @realDonaldTrump is right - we need border security.

Arizona Rep Debbie Lesko: Time's Up on the Border Wall
Walls work-when Israel built its border wall, they saw a 99 percent reduction in illegal border crossings. The fencing that is in place at the U.S. border has had a similar effect — San Diego, ElPaso, Tucson and Yuma, all saw 90+ percent reductions in illegal border crossings after their fences were built.

The White House on Twitter: "Building walls at sections of ...
Building walls at sections of the border in San Diego, El Paso, Tucson, and Yuma caused illegal traffic to drop by 90% or more in the years that followed. Numbers talk. Walls work.

Yes, because San and El are obvious homophones, as are Antonio and Paso.

Oh, and for you Trumpophiles, that doesn’t mean they like to have sex with each other.

I’m actually surprised he even allows cities in the US to have Mexican names. I’m sure there will be a EO to fix that.

Imagine still defending Chump for every little thing, I do believe he is their whole identity, well, that and he brought Coal back. He is a stable genius and WVU82 knows what he really means to say, They won the midterms too, or did Donnie mean to say you lost?.

Couple items here.

1. Obama has a BA from Columbia and JD from Harvard. Excuse me while I finish laughing at the likes of this board calling him a quote, idiot.

2. Totally accept that Trump misspoke. I am sure he got his city names mixed up temporary. It happens (especially with him). However, nobody is debating the fact that walls serve great utility where border cities meet. Especially dense urban areas. What is being debated here is a wall that spans the entirely of the boarder which would only serve as some symbolic gesture and make Trump's base voters feel safer at night for some reason.

In reality, the wall would likely save a lot of lives as it would keep them from trying to cross open desert and dying of dehydration.

This is exactly the point. The 5.7B this year is 1/5 of his border wall plan and represents just the start. Sure we need to beef up the border but not like this. Waste of time and money. It's just a symbol for him.

Heres the man with the plan, Rep. Will Hurd. Everything else is political theater....and something that Mexico might actually help fund if presumably its rural citizens could tap into it as well.
https://www.businessinsider.com/wil...idea-fiber-optic-cable-instead-of-wall-2019-1

This is political theater. A buried cable is not going to stop anyone from crossing that crosses now. A physical barrier stops some, and slows others down, giving Border Patrol, who have asked for the wall, a chance to intercept.

Sounds like he is in agreement with the current proposal by Turmp.

"A physical barrier in some places does make sense, when there's urban-to-urban contact," he said. "But it's not along all 2,000 miles of the border, and there's probably only a handful of miles where something like that is needed."

I agree completely. Hence... funding is needed to build walls at strategic locations and then enhance security with technical and man power measures.

Exactly. I also like that Trumpers are now acting as though the wall was always just gonna be in strategic locations, and not the entire length of the border. Security fencing for strategic areas was agreed to years ago...and is being built. Trump argued for a wall the entire length of the border.

And he is still alluding to it. I'm sorry to say, him making the stupid claims of Mexico will pay for it and all his actions towards Dems is going to cause problems with ever getting this settled. He has not led on this as something that is important. He has played games the entire time.

Again.... it doesn't matter what he promised/pledged/claimed in the past.... what only matters is what happens moving forward.

In order to reopen the government, spending bills must be finalized and therefore spending on a strategic wall will have to be included if there is any hope to get Trump to sign those bills.

It's always been 3 options.
1) Dems fund wall to a level acceptable to Trump.
2) McConnell jumps ship and Reps and Dems pass bills without wall spending and override a veto.
3) Trump caves and agrees to passing bills with no wall funding.

Pick your poison ladies.

I believe many on here have said they would support either 2 or 3. Don't know why it has to always be repeated.
