The peak is not here yet.

Not yet. We will see a rise because results are days behind what is going on now. What is happening today is several days away. I’m not a fan of now but I’m believing in the future to stunt the most important stat and that is the death rate. Cases are scary but end result ( death rate) is what has to be reduced.
Politics aside let’s pray we win this early on the bad side.

its going to continue to rise until politicians actually make people stay home. i work for a roofing supply company. we were deemed by Louisiana to be "essential". yesterday there was a pool cleaning crew next door to my house. i asked them how they were working, the owner told me that pools keep citizens moral boosted so they were "essential" also. worst "quarantine" in history. they are making half the population stay home and the other half do whatever they want.

Only time will tell I suppose, but when looking at daily case rate data for China, Korea, and now even Italy, there seems to be a consistent peak 4-5 weeks after initial spread.

Korea has obviously had better success than most while Italy has been worse off, but even Italy has finally started seeing declining new case rates the last 2-3 days.

I don’t know what this means for the U.S., and the still rampant spread in New York is alarming, but I’ll also say that I’ve seen absolutely nothing in the data we have to suggest that we are still another month to six weeks away from a peak. I’m betting on a peak no later than Apr 12th

One thing I will say... when things eventually do start getting better, we cannot just go back to our prior ways and that is my fear. People are going to have a “it’s finally over” attitude when that will be far from the case. Limited group interaction, distancing, and sanitizing will be crucial for months to come

Correct. And no.

Has enough been done to blunt it?

I cant believe I'm saying this, but I dont fault Trump for trying to give people hope about relaxing the social distancing by Easter. But NO medical professional is advocating anything close to it.

The economy is a grave concern. But it's not his fault and he needs to let that go. If cases and deaths ramped up after relaxing things on Easter he would be personally responsible. No economic recovery would justify it.

55% of US population, 175 M people on stay at home orders. Over halfway there.

But those stay at home orders aren't much different than what is happening in places not under them. Most work is still going on; people still go to work; people still go outside to exercise; etc. Probably helps get some people working from home that otherwise wouldn't be, but none of them are very strict. Which I think is the right way to go; it's just that people shouldn't expect some dramatic stop to new cases.
