There's lots of stupid people who post online. It doesn't mean they're right. It just means they're not informed. Anyone paying attention back then knew that Kentucky had become a first weekend punchline under Calipari.

Let the haters spew. This is the same society that likes the Kardashians and Baby Yoda.

“It’s the fans fault Cal sucked. The crappy Uk fans ran him off.”

That’s the narrative being pushed in social media and probably soon to be national media.

This has to be one of the lowest days for BBN in recent history.
are they wrong? the year we ran cal off we were the nations 3rd in ppg, and 1st and 3pt %

it was a fun style with flashy gameplay and everyone in the country would love to habe cal as their coach, and we hire an "offensive guru" and our offensive numbers have gone down the last two years.... crazy!!!

Exactly, if the media runs with that, they can go back and read all the videos and articles they wrote about how he underachieved and choked yet again when it mattered. So who cares what they say?

Cal ran himself off. He violated the contract knowingly and didn’t care to even hide it. He wanted out. He was talking to other schools mid season. He checked out long before he left. So the fans are at fault because we were sick of his ******** and losing? Whatever makes you feel better I guess!

I think it fair to say, believing Cal would agree, it just wasn't working anymore and it was time for a change. Cal has been rejuvenated, but so far, our program may not have been. We'll see ..

I wish the embarrassment would drive boosters to do something to right the ship. Pay Pope’s buyout and move on. Get a new coach so we can start the healing process.
I wish you’d stfu for a day but that ain’t happening. Grown men crying over Cal are as bad as those defending Pope at all cost.

Long ago Cal started to believe his own BS and stopped coaching to win games for UK. He thought he was the program and his main job was to not win games but to get players to the NBA.

I’ll cry over the fact that he was sabotaged by Mitch Barnhart, even if he was in his twilight years.

I hope those same national media folks and social media randos will do like I'm doing with my bracket and have Arkansas penciled in as the national champion. Anything less should be viewed as a historic failure with all that 5 star talent, IMO. Acuff + Thomas = two Kembas! Just can't lose with that, I don't care how "random" tournaments are.

If Cal were here the last two seasons and had seasons that earned a 10 and then a 4/5 seed, calls for his head would be at a fever pitch.

Fans soured on him because getting 4/5 seeds or worse in the tourney were common place. That became the norm.

It’s good for him that he is at a place where he can feel successful.

Why is everyone acting like Arkansas is a 1 seed and undefeated? They barely beat 4-14 Ole Miss in OT before beating Vandy in the SEC conference tournament and will be maybe a 4 seed in the NCAA tournament. He had a miracle run to the sweet sixteen last year. His last game against a top 10 team they lost by THIRTY. I mean you think we’d all be celebrating with that? It would be as toxic as ever around here.

So what, we've been demonized forever by the media and other fanbases, we need to embrace it and be the villain of college basketball, stop trying to be nice and liked, hire a prick as head coach who is driven to win at the highest level no matter what and get back to kicking ***

It was much easier to “get players to the NBA” that were likely already going to get into the NBA. Much harder to win championships. That’s why Calipari picked the former over the latter. Path of least resistance.

Now he will be motivated to be one of the few coaches to get 4 teams to a Final Four. That is his motivation….that and to find a landing place for Brad Calipari.

It would be a very misinformed opinion. And anyone with said opinion would have never looked at this last 4 teams at Kentucky.

Who cares what the media thinks. They didn’t have to live through 2020-2024. A miserable stretch in UK basketball history. So it hasn’t worked out for Pope in many of the ways it didn’t work out for Matt Doherty who followed Dean Smith/Bill Guthridge. Guess what happened next? Roy Williams and 2 national titles in 12 years. The same can and will happen here.

Cal won the SECT and Pope has never gotten passed the quarterfinals. The “4-1 for Cal and 3-2 for Pope” line isn’t very honest.

The SEC tournament championship is definitely worth a lot in my book, but I wouldn't say Cal is exactly killing it at Arkansas.

Good luck pushing back on this narrative when the same people that feel offended by it are blaming the rest of the fanbase for the degradation of the program.
I think most people are really just saying in the community here or are worried that there’s a lot of fans who are advocating for keeping Mark. Not necessarily thinking they are solely responsible for keeping Mark in place if he stays. Hell I worry about it, I worry that I’d Barnhart gets enough support he’ll rely on that and keep pope here while the losses pile up.wont happen though, boosters write the checks and he’s already cutting access and they wanted Pearl anyway. They’ll make this determination soon. Barnhart wants to keep them out like always and as long as Mark is controlled by him he’ll be out.

But really I just can’t understand someone supporting Mark as the coach of Kentucky. Someone like you who probably believes it’s likely not going to work but you’ll support it until next season I don’t have issues. The ones fighting back and finding ways to act like he’s fine and dandy I have issues. But only issue here, I don’t think they’re talking about macro level power.

Not to be mean to anyone but there are some really stupid people out here these days. It’s gotten worse since the greats died off and the era’s changed. I’m alarmed at the stupid things I hear and I rarely say it but, the country is full of people who, if it weren’t for others around them pulling the weight, wouldn’t be eating.

Yes it’s just history repeating itself and the slow not able to grasp it. History. Repeats. Itself.

You’d think everyone would get it but

You look at those numbers, while slightly better than Pope, they still aren't close to our standard. The SEC tournament championship does have some luster, but we've got people on here acting like Cal has been dominating since he left Kentucky. Good lord.

I have no idea what they’re seeing. Calipari doing what he’s done at Arkansas after the 20-24 run would mean we still want him out. A sweet 16? Getting killed for 30% of his time there? No #1 seeds, losses to Mark Pope and a slew of other mid coaches? Blowing sweet 16 games with good leads? I mean sure the SEC tourney but honestly come on Florida threw that tournament to get out of it. Beating ole Miss and Vandy okay? He still hasn’t done anywhere near good enough if this was the result from 2020-2026. Add it up, it’s fireable at Kentucky. Tubby must really think to himself wow, I could have stayed 20 years if these were the fans during my era.

OP Drama queen
BBN is a good guy. Funny too, has some funny ways. He’s just a UK guy from the state that loves being embedded in it. It’s just a post on a meaningless message board. He’s not doing anything unordinary. The guy you responded to is the biggest drama queen here actually. Multiple Annan accounts, has more enemies that I’ve ever seen anyone have. I mean damn, guy is a nut. BBN is just talking about fans from around social media, I don’t see it as drama. Hell I wish he’d post some of that sht, funny to read.

How did he violate the contract?

And if he did then why wasn’t he fired for it?

Just because Matt jones runs with a story doesn’t make it true.
